This is my dads dad I'm so grateful that this was recorded because I get to hear my papa sing, he'd always sing to us grandchildren we'd all sit around him and on his lap and sing songs and open our gifts he'd bring back from his travels ❤️

Jessica Katae, I love the East Coast Spanish Song. Stumbled on it one day a few years ago, and loved it ever since. My mum, Aunty Maebe, and a lot of our tupuna are in this video. ( I'm Maebe's, daughter Annette) My mum had a special fondness for your papa. She took care of Douglas in his infant days, strapped him to her back, in a blanket Maori style, Aunty Connie was teaching school in the Whakaniangi valley. We will always treasure your papas Waiata and his ability to inspire our whanau. Also Just got to say a big thanks to Ming for giving us this memory and his devotion to the welfare of our East Coast whanau.

Adelante para Siempre..Ka rawe..I am also of Manuel Jose Whanau.. My mum's side is Goldsmith, my grandfather 'Hare Goldsmith was the grandchild of Manuel Jose... . I am always grateful for he was in my life growing up..he also had some of those strong 'Paniora traits'..charismatic, strong, handsome, hard worker, quiet & reserved but with a sense of humour, determined, generous.. I am flying back from being in Oz 30+!years.. Back to Tairawhiti, entered into highly desirable Bachelor Degree in Maori Visual Art (stars Feb2017).. I am a very proud Maori -Paniora..

Didn't Ngati Porou start out from Taranaki? Taranaki tribes were responsible for the extermination & denationalization of pre-maori: Aokealoa Sovereign Kānaka.
