1. If the decision was difficult or really close, you have to give the point to the clearance/expiring one. 2. You should have randomized the order of tasting when it came to fresh vs expiring. 3. You should have done it blinded to which was fresh vs expiring. 4. Batch inconsistency could explain variability too, so a better method would be either more sampling over a few days or weeks OR buy from one batch fresh, taste some of it, taste more later past expiration date, compare scores. 5. When are we getting the Erik The Electric collab/competition involving both endurance sports and eating challenges?

If you followed us on IG you’d know that Nate has been recovering from an Achilles injury and hasn’t been able to run in over 2 months now. Also, Erik himself has said he probably won’t be doing endurance spots x food challenges as they don’t perform as well for him. Never mind the fact that we are currently experimenting with different types of videos while Nate recovers and aren’t focusing on challenges. 👍

Very interesting dissection of expired foods. Really enjoyed it. It seems like the more dense and buttery the food is, the better it holds up over time. As good as the wal mart bakery is, theres one sad aspect of it I think we'd all agree on. Their donuts are definitely not worth it, lol. Looking forward to next time! P.s. Last night I discovered they had these cream cheese filled pumkin blondie brownies you might like to try.
You’re absolutely right - the cake & cookie style goods definitely hold up better then the pastries! Yeah, we’re not typically picky when it comes to donuts but they’re not the greatest 😅😅 we thought the apple fritter was decent but the cruller was down right offensive 🤣🤣 also, we actually did just try that pumpkin blondies! Strong ginger flavor and could use more texture maybe from some white chocolate chips in the base but pretty good. The real winner was the pumpkin white chocolate decadent cookies they just released 😍🤤 those are a new favorite!

Very interesting this one! Almost every items can be eaten after expired date. I think we have to trust our smelling, observing and tasting capacities to evaluate if they are still good to eat! Great video guys 👍

I think some sort of blind version of this where only the other twin knows which is which (fresh or expired) would be a fun way to truly test if there’s a difference! Great video though!

I know I am years late with this comment lol but sometimes items don’t look the same because different people make them. I used to work at two grocery store bakeries and you can always tell who did the baking that day lol
Loved this video! It was so unique and some of the choices you made really surprised me. Although most videos you guys like the same things, as a future video idea, maybe guessing each other’s top five bakery items. Similar to how your did your desert island video where you hid them. I think it would be interesting what the other twin thought of the items you picked

Great video! I work at Walmart and the Bakery has some really delicious items. The Decadent cookies are amazing along with the muffins! Some of the pastries you had I have not tried but will have to, I'm thinking that they must have different things in different states, since I am from Minnesota. Hey Nate and Pete, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I thought all the products other than the banana bread would be better fresh because that is dense and can sit for a couple days, probably tasting similar. But the flaky stuff, for me would have to be eaten fresh. I’ve never seen cowboy cookies, let alone heard of them before. I don’t think I would buy any bakery items on sale unless there was a significant discount (more than fifty cents). For me less than that, you might as well buy the fresh. Keep up the good work. 😆😆 we’ve certainly drawn some attention to ourselves shopping for some of these vids. The best was when we were shopping for our cake rematch challenge and the cashier said “hosting a party I see…” and we just looked at each other and said “YUP!” and then she looked back at us with a bit of distaste and continued ringing out the order. When we left we were like “what the heck was that about?” And then we remembered that there was the whole “no large gatherings” rule that was being pushed on the news all day every day around the holidays because of the pandemic and the whole “getting ourselves out of having to say we were going to eat all the cake ourselves” plan backfired 🤣🤣

Lol! Yeah it was interesting seeing the difference side by side because we often purchase clearance stuff because it still tastes great. Turns out in some cases it’s not as ideal as others though! The cowboy cookies are good but they have better options available if you’re buying fresh such as the decadent pearl sugar cookie and decadent white chocolate chunk pumpkin cookies which are favs 🙏 Achilles is doing better with time. Gotten a few jogs in so far and introducing some load baring exercises. It’ll get there slowly but surely.
Was surprised with some of the expired winning items, goes to show that you don’t always have spend the extra money and that fresher isn’t always better! You guys should do a branded v non-branded snacks at some point be interesting to see how many non-branded items are better as oppose to the branded items

I mean look, if the clearance is only slightly worse than fresh I go clearance all the time. Money is important, I ain't gonna spend more of it just to get SLIGHTLY better food xP.
If you can't choose or they are that close you need to choose the expired. That is the whole point, that clearance is just as good as fresh in that case. In several cases you praised the clearance and then didn't give them the point or negated it by giving the fresh a point too. 🤨

Very interesting dissection of expired foods. Really enjoyed it.
It seems like the more dense and buttery the food is, the better it holds up over time.
As good as the wal mart bakery is, theres one sad aspect of it I think we'd all agree on. Their donuts are definitely not worth it, lol.

You’re absolutely right - the cake & cookie style goods definitely hold up better then the pastries! Yeah, we’re not typically picky when it comes to donuts but they’re not the greatest 😅😅 we thought the apple fritter was decent but the cruller was down right offensive 🤣🤣 also, we actually did just try that pumpkin blondies! Strong ginger flavor and could use more texture maybe from some white chocolate chips in the base but pretty good. The real winner was the pumpkin white chocolate decadent cookies they just released 😍🤤 those are a new favorite!

Haha, yeah a good 50% of the comments are people telling us we should have done it blind folded. We have another video planned very soon we will be doing blindfolded so intentionally didn’t do that for this one. So glad you weren’t disappointed though and thrilled you enjoyed 😃😃

Very interesting this one! Almost every items can be eaten after expired date. I think we have to trust our smelling, observing and tasting capacities to evaluate if they are still good to eat!

I think some sort of blind version of this where only the other twin knows which is which (fresh or expired) would be a fun way to truly test if there’s a difference! Great video though!
Half of this comment section is people saying we should have done it blind folded 😆 we have another video planned we intend on doing blind folded so intentionally didn’t do that for this was. We went into this pretty objectively and could clearly tell the difference in certain cases. 👍

I know I am years late with this comment lol but sometimes items don’t look the same because different people make them. I used to work at two grocery store bakeries and you can always tell who did the baking that day lol
Loved this video! It was so unique and some of the choices you made really surprised me. Although most videos you guys like the same things, as a future video idea, maybe guessing each other’s top five bakery items. Similar to how your did your desert island video where you hid them. I think it would be interesting what the other twin thought of the items you picked

Great video! I work at Walmart and the Bakery has some really delicious items. The Decadent cookies are amazing along with the muffins! Some of the pastries you had I have not tried but will have to, I'm thinking that they must have different things in different states, since I am from Minnesota. Hah we have have two blindfold videos planned in that exact method which is why we chose not to do it for this one. Those are being done soon and we don’t want everything to be the same and feel get stale.

Hey Nate and Pete, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I thought all the products other than the banana bread would be better fresh because that is dense and can sit for a couple days, probably tasting similar. But the flaky stuff, for me would have to be eaten fresh. I’ve never seen cowboy cookies, let alone heard of them before. I don’t think I would buy any bakery items on sale unless there was a significant discount (more than fifty cents). For me less than that, you might as well buy the fresh. Keep up the good work. 😆😆 we’ve certainly drawn some attention to ourselves shopping for some of these vids. The best was when we were shopping for our cake rematch challenge and the cashier said “hosting a party I see…” and we just looked at each other and said “YUP!” and then she looked back at us with a bit of distaste and continued ringing out the order. When we left we were like “what the heck was that about?” And then we remembered that there was the whole “no large gatherings” rule that was being pushed on the news all day every day around the holidays because of the pandemic and the whole “getting ourselves out of having to say we were going to eat all the cake ourselves” plan backfired 🤣🤣
Great idea for a video….maybe it would be cool to do a blind taste test and vote for which one you like best without knowing it’s expiration date? Just a suggestion but it’s awesome either way!!!

Yeah it was interesting seeing the difference side by side because we often purchase clearance stuff because it still tastes great. Turns out in some cases it’s not as ideal as others though!
The cowboy cookies are good but they have better options available if you’re buying fresh such as the decadent pearl sugar cookie and decadent white chocolate chunk pumpkin cookies which are favs 🙏
Achilles is doing better with time. Gotten a few jogs in so far and introducing some load baring exercises. It’ll get there slowly but surely.

Was surprised with some of the expired winning items, goes to show that you don’t always have spend the extra money and that fresher isn’t always better! You guys should do a branded v non-branded snacks at some point be interesting to see how many non-branded items are better as oppose to the branded items

Ngl sometimes i do be buying the clearance stuff to save some money haha so glad to see sometimes the quality is kinda hand in hand with fresh ones (obvs with cheesy stuff fresh ones are always better cause of the melty cheese and also in most cookies because they're still soft)

I mean look, if the clearance is only slightly worse than fresh I go clearance all the time. Money is important, I ain't gonna spend more of it just to get SLIGHTLY better food xP.
If you can't choose or they are that close you need to choose the expired. That is the whole point, that clearance is just as good as fresh in that case. In several cases you praised the clearance and then didn't give them the point or negated it by giving the fresh a point too. 🤨
