Jim Reeves a legend that will never be forgotten ..Johnny Cash is sounding out and got more masculine! Felon Husky is an oldie and awesome..Great entertainment is what I'm getting listening to these legends..thank you
I'm 86 and happy to say this is real country/hillbilly music I enjoy. each singer I like had a distinct sound that was their trademark so to speak. I surely miss all the graat ones who left us at too early and age. Thank God we can still enjoy them her on you tube.
The voice from beyond. That's how we got 'hooked' on Jim Reeves on hearing about his untimely death in 1964. I was only 12 years old, but it was my mother who inspired us to become followers of this gentleman with the best singing voice God has given any man. Jim was best listened to at night when the monsoon rains beat on our walls, back in Sri Lanka. He has been an inspiration for generation after generation. They still play his songs on Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation airwaves. Rajan Navaratnam. Alberta, Canada.
I know Jim Reeves' music because my parents Always played his songs...I still love it..Country music is still a great style of music with many different vocalists...You cannot compare Jim Reeves with Johnny Cash...I like them both.
For those who are offended by this video find something to be offended about that is serious this was intended to be funny and it actually is.it shows the talent of the late Jim reves
Wonderful impersonations but I couldn't help noticing that in every one of the impersonations, as good as they were, sudden flashes of the deep, rich unique baritone voice of Jim came through which only reinforced my conviction that Jim and only Jim Reeves was The Best. The True King of Country Music!
MY MOM AND DAD WERE BIG FANS OF JIMBO .. AND NOW IM OLDER I LOVE IT TOO.. OLD SCHOOL COUNTRY KICKS ASS OUT OF NEW COUNTRY..SO MAN GREAT SONGS AND SINGERS BACK THEN..
You are exactly right... No other singer in history could out sing Jim Reeves... Jim Reeves made international fame years before there were internet and big tv or radio... No telling where he would stand in history if he hadn't died so young...
That was a treat to hear Jim Reeves do the impersonations. He's really good! I also love Jim Reeves being Jim Reeves. Wonderful guy with that satiny voice.
Jim had the most perfect, timeless, voice of any man.. never get tired of his music, and he must have had the greatest personality possible, in a man, you can just see it in his face.
Fantastic piece of history. Jim Reeves on Stage, one of the best albums released (although the full concert was never released). I always thought that 'One by One' was with Leo, but in fact was Jim singing both parts.
Bit of trivia you may already know. Jim Reeves got his start on the Louisiana Hayride, He was an announcer and an act didn't show up one night for a talent show. Jim Reeves offered to take their place but was told he couldn't perform if he was employed by the Louisiana Hayride. So Jim Reeves, said "I quit!" and went on to perform and wn the talent show. However he was singing in a much higher register sounding similar to Webb Pierce. It wasn't until later that he was in the studio with Chet Atkins when Chet asked him to try a song in a lower register. He did and that's when he discovered his beautiful baritone voice that we all knew and loved. There will never be another Gentleman Jim. He's buried, with his dog, just outside Carthage Texas on HWY 79. The town maintains a very nice little memorial and has an exhibit dedicated to him in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Carthage.
Pretty funny...didn't know that Jim could do impressions of great country singers and get away with their actual voices...I guess he could do anything as a performer...thanks for posting!
Definitive word! Jim is/was having fun with these artists in this exact order: Ernest Tubb Webb Pierce Red Foley/Kitty Wells Johnny Cash Simon Crum (Ferlin Husky) Lefty Frizzell He was such a wonderful entertainer, with such a spellbinding voice. The Lord won that voice for the Heavenly Choir when He took Jim Reeves. We miss you Jim!
Here's a thought, slightly removed, but it has to go somewhere. ; ] I turned 53 at the end of this summer. 'Gentleman Jim' died less than a month before I was born.
OMG...shocked, had no idea he had this impersonating talent ! I grew up in the rock n' roll era of the 50's and 60's but also leaned very much toward traditional country music. I think I have every song (as an mp3) as well as cassette and vinyl, Jim ever recorded. Thanks for the upload. He passed to young. Also a big fan of the late Patsy Cline. Wanda Jackson never got the recognition she should have...another great voice.
Wow Daniel fantastic my friend this one is a definite on my fav list I never knew that Gentle man Jim was so good at comedy and doing great impersonations fantastic Daniel a definite on my fav list thank you from your friend Phil .
I have loved these songs since a small child in the early 40's. My Mom used to sing along with them. Such happy fun music. and Jim Reeves, always loved, so much as a teen.
Thank you Phil! Yea, most people view Jim Reeves as a serious and all business kind of person but they say had a great personality and he could be quite onry at times too... Thanks for listening my friend!
Robin Rothschild Almost, but not quite. Ferlin Husky was in there, but he was the one doing his "alter ego" Simon Crum, a comedy character that came strictly from his mind. The gentleman, and he was all that and more, singing "One by One" was the late, great (greatest) Red Foley. Red and Kitty are known for the many duets they performed, and cut at least one LP together, if not more. The mention of Ozark Jubilee should have given that one away, as Red was the host for it's entire run. We had such awesome talent back in those days. Listening to those folks... or Jim's impressions of them... makes me glad I was old enough to live through that time. To the poster of this one... thanks a million. I had never heard Jim do impressions, and he's not bad... not as good as Merle Haggard, but pretty good all the same. ☺
Daniel, I never knew that Jim could impersonate some of the legends and must say he is not bad. Not a Merle Haggard but certainly passable. MY OPINION.
Just love this little show....never heard this before...just a FREE style of show....love love love this....I knew all of the artist he imitated...quite the character he could be....beloved artist that he was....the Late Jim Reeves.... Thanks Ken / Orlando, Florida
The world missed out on some absolutely beautiful music due to this mans untimely death. He was so damn smooth... what happened to Gentlemen Jim is a shame.
So true. Sadly he was one of those guys who always thought he knew better than anybody else & ignored advice from the Air Traffic Controller & subsequently flew into a serious storm that ultimately, along with pilot error, bought the aircraft down.
When I was 12 years old I met Mr. Jim Reeves and he was so nice.
Jim Reeves a legend that will never be forgotten ..Johnny Cash is sounding out and got more masculine! Felon Husky is an oldie and awesome..Great entertainment is what I'm getting listening to these legends..thank you

It amazes me that CZcams flagged this video as inappropriate. Wtf?! Somebody at CZcams has lost their mind
Effing a right!
Can you appeal it? It may be a genuine mistake
@Va HOSS. SO RIDICULOUS! Jim Reeves is a sacred monument to American classic country music. He was a great actor too! ex. This video.
its about hating white people and their culture full stop
Inappropriate? That the youtube should even exist with this kind of ridiculous mindset is what is inappropriate.
The best ever. When I was little, we lived next door to Jim Reeves mother.
lucky you !
R. I. P. Jim Reeves. it has been 50 years today since God called him home.

Yep!! I couldn't agree more... As much as I like all the people he imitated, Reeves sounds better singing their songs than they do!! lol!
