JAPANESE LIGHTHOUSE IN CHUUK【 Micronesia 】

- The lighthouse was built by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1937 on a mountain in Haru-shima, Truk Lagoon (now Weno Island, Chuuk State). The lighthouse can still be reached by taking a sightseeing tour of the island offered by the hotel.
The lighthouse had been neglected and overgrown with weeds and accumulated graffiti over the years, but the Chuuk Visitours Bureau has now begun cleaning and beautification activities.
The weather was not good that day, but on a clear day, you can see all the way to the edge of Chuuk Lagoon, and the green of the island and the blue of the sea make it a very beautiful spot with spectacular views.

懐かしい〜！ 5年前に潜りに行った時、チュークを離れる前日に観光で行きました。
丁度ホテルでバイトしてたチューク人の大学生がドライバー兼観光案内をしてくれたのですが、
車を降りてから灯台までの道はジャングルを分け入らねばならず、私たちだけでは到底辿り着けなかったと思います。
確かあの時も、灯台に1番近い家までは車は入れなかったはず。
(灯台の敷地に入るための代金をどこかの家に払いましたが、それがこの家だったかは忘れました…)
灯台入口の綺麗なタイル貼りがある場所から上がっていき、あの鉄梯子の上へも登って絶景を眺めました。
8月の天気の良い日だったので本当に眺めは良かったです。(縁に腰かけたりしてましたw)
因みにあの鉄梯子はその時もガタガタで、上部のボルトは外れていて既に無かったと記憶しています。
映像中にも観光で行ってほしいという話がありましたが、いつかまた上まで登って展望を楽しみたいです。
