His British accent was pretty much flawless throughout the whole series - I was so impressed (I'm British and was listening out for any slip-ups but didn't hear any)
Only when he called it a sweater twice in the same scene! Even though Sophie had called it a jumper in the very same scene.
He understands the differences between southern and northern accents in England! So good to see an actor who respects that and doesnt just go for the stereotypical posh southerner. Would love to see him do a Yorkshire accent where i am from, "Eyup, i'm Dexter Morgan".

Just watched 3 back to back episodes of Safe. His english accent is superb (and I'm English). I'd go so far as to say that is the best attempt at an English accent I've ever heard.
I'd say John Lithgow is just as good.

I think the detail he goes into with the explanation alone shows you why he was so good at it. There's an interest and a passion there. I feel like the general attitude from the US can be encapsulated in the term; 'British accent'. There is no British accent, there are too damn many across these isles to generalise them under one header lol.

He did a great job on the accent. I only found out after the first episode that he was American, and I'm fairly expert on accents. Although, Emma, his accent had nothing to do with Manchester; it waas more South-East.
You two never watched dexter!?! Series 1, 2 and 4 were awesome! He also used to be in a show with Andrew Lincoln which was quite good

Digital Box Emma, I'm from Dorset and all I could get from his accent was posh sussex. I didnt hear any Manchester at all.
As someone born and raised in London, England I have to say the accent is terrible. To say that it’s “slightly posh Manchester” is laughable. It’s a really bad attempt at a generic southern accent. Manchester is in the north.

As another Brit. Yeah I was fooled. I'm Northern so I don't hear much Southern accents but he fooled me. I hear a decent amount of Southern accents but I can't pick them apart like Northern ones. He deffo pulled the wool over my eyes. Add him to the list of Americans that can do English accents lmao.
I gotta say Michael C Hall is an amazing actor and would be a brilliant voice actor if he was to get a roll in voice acting 😊

Anyone saying the accent was off and it was terrible is an absolute bell end, it’s probably because you’re used to seeing him in dexter and it’s hard to get you’re brothpot head around that! It was spot on I had to google to see if he was English or American!

Loved this guys acting skills in Dexter, and watching interviews, he puts so much thought into his characters it’s incredible to watch!

If you have ever been to Manchester no one sounds like that and I am Canadian married to a man from Rochdale. He sounded and acted like a phony idiot. Dexter was one of my favourites.
I'm from Manchester and I have heard a few people who sounded like Hall did on Safe. It's an accent indicative of someone who went to a boarding or grammar school.
It took me 3 episodes to get used to his accent

The accent didn't sound entirely natural to me but it definitely wasn't bad. If people think it's "bad" I'd urge them to differentiate between "bad" and "not perfect". But I think if you know Michael as an actor and you've seen him in Six Feet Under and Dexter and the like, it takes you a little while to get used to him not sounding like himself.

If I didn't already know him well from other things he's been in, I as a brit would never have known he wasn't British! Well done 😊 as there's some shocking attempts out there, same as some brits have failed terribly at American accents.

When I decided to watch Safe I was like oh I think his guy is American it’s probably an American show then I realized it’s a British show I was wrong he’s British but just now I realized he is actually American. And that’s why he looked familiar because he was the Dexter guy. His British accent is very believable. I’m American btw

The ‘generic’ accent threw me off. It doesn’t seem like the sort of accent one would deliberately put on, so had to double-check whether this accent or the Dexter accent was fake 😂

As an english speaking european who has been working and speaking with english people from all over the country for the past 14 years, I can honestly say that his accent is so... vanilla. Maybe that is exactly what is wrong with it. The simple fact that you can't really tell where he is from ends up being the missing piece. It doesn't sound authentic to me. And that threw me off. But that's just my opinion.
There is no such thing as a "British" accent. There are English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh accents that vary widely depending on the region of that particular country.

His accent was horrible, totally bland and none regional. I've heard worse from Americans but still it's easy to hear it wasn't authentic. Tatiana Maslany is the standard for American British accents, absolutely flawless.
A northern accent wouldnt work , it would just be another coronation street and this show is set in a posh middle class place ....i think michaels clear bbc style accent was perfect . .... He speaks better than most british people lol

A British accent is the same as american one just without the american sound but you need to know how it sounds and what words to say,the British Accent in Safe sounds from the south east cos we don't have a broad accent.some Americans have British descent just like Canada and Australia. Donald Trump has Scottish Descent that why he is the way he is,they are hard Bastr%$"s,Micheal in Dexter was brilliant,it weird seen him as British.He will always be Dexter to me..so in a way this is what has happened to Dexter,he has moved to the UK and pretending to be British..lol
