Reuniting with romanced Spawn Astarion after returning from Avernus

- My Tav went to Avernus with Wyll and Karlach while being romanced with Spawn Astarion, thus leaving him behind. He seems okay with that, but hopes there is still something to look forward to in the future.

This is the same dialogue you get if he's unromanced. So it looks like you're just broken up.
yeah, it's bugged, bc If you romanced him why he can't join you and Karclach in Avernus, or at least have some discussion about it, break up, distance relationship, not go to Avernus, or go together.
I don't like everything about when Astarion run away from the sun, romanced character ignores him, but at least we can see them together after, but if you his friend, you haven't seen him for 6 months after the scene at the pierce, so what kind of friend would do that?
and the same bug with Ascendant Astarion, just lines like friends, he doesn't follow his spawn in Avernus, he doesn't compel not go etc
In the endings a lot of such kind of bugs.
Most likely, in patch 7, this will change, the Dataminers have already found dialogues where your romance with Astarion will continue if you go with Karlach to Avernus.

Also dialogues of other companions being a lot more realistically concerned for Astarion. The Gale one of him screaming Astarion's name and urgently saying he needs us now more than ever is very sweet.
The thing I don't like about going to Avernus is there's no option to check in with the person that was romanced.
Pretty sure this is unromaced dialogue so they've broken up. I wouldn't expect a person I romanced to leave me without a word for a period of time only to pop up on a mutual friends party to still be considered my significant other either
@@aHan-ex5rm as of right now I can't say as far as Unasceneded Astarion, I didn't test it on that run, but that's how it goes with Ascended. It's vague on if they're still together, (though they should have to be since my Durge got turned), and no option to inform him about possibly getting Karlach fixed soon.
EIther way, it's kind of like chosing to evolve, or become full illithid. It feels like something that the PC should get to actually discuss with their SO, before making a decision.

A lot of endings are bugged, especially with Karclach (Avernus) and Lazel (Astral).
Astarion breaks up with you if you go to Avernus. Understandable tbh
Yes and no. There is a dialogue in whitch he talks how he gets why you went with Karlach and that when it’s done, you know where to find him. BUT there is a bug so right now there’s no option to trigger this properly, other than looking into game files.
It's better to have Wyll going with her tbh

He would not allow Tav to in this scenario. They smell of sulfur and buning flesh. He declines gracefully. He will allow Tav if they did not go with Karlach.

I’m so proud of Astarion and his growth 😭 I romanced him and stayed with him until the end in my playthrough (Wyll went with Karlach to Avernus), but I feel so proud that my boy can find happiness and meaning in his life even on his own, and that he can gain a happy ending on his own terms. Shows the giant evolution he went through on his journey with Tav and everyone else. Love this vamp boy to death.

I love the idea of Astarion out being a hero: Yes, you can applaud. I deserve it.
Astarion as hero makes as much sense as Wyll as a villain.
@@Deadpan_SnarkerI mean that depends entirely on how you approach the character. Iirc in EA Wyll tortured a goblin and none of the characters were likely intended to be completely rooted to one side of the moral compass over the other
For Wyll... He sold his soul to a devil which is already problematic, but also leads to a devil invading the camp on a semi regular basis, which is certainly not ideal
He does briefly argue to try and convince himself to kill Karlach despite seeing that she isn't what he believed her to be
He is arrogant and naive and very focused on being seen as a hero sometimes at the expense of actually doing the right thing
He will casually ask Astarion how the rat diet is working out for him which is a bizarre thing for a good aligned character to do knowing Astarion's history with them. Tbh the only other characters I can remember specifically bringing it up in such a manner are Auntie Ethel, Cazador, and potentially Tav.
His reaction to Astarion nearly being kidnapped is also less than sympathetic
Which even if he just has a bias against Astarion himself still shows
Wyll has the potential to be callous and cruel almost as much as Astarion has the potential to be heroic and honorable
As much as I love his romanced ending the best, I love this so much for him. He's so genuinely content and happy and free. I would classify this as a good ending for him
WHY would you chose to go to Avernus with them if you could spend the rest of your life with Astarion? Sorry, but Astarion will ALWAYS win on that choice.
Tbf, before the recent patches, you had to go to Avernus with Karlach if you wanted her to live. So glad they changed that and made it so Wyll would go with her.
@@amberh709 You SHOULD be able to choose to go running after Astarion to help him or to stay with Karlach. It's ridiculous that they force you to stay with her while the love of your life runs off to hide alone in pain and fear.

So it’s still bugged. Every romancable companion has a dialogue about Avernus, including Astarion (both versions). There is a dialogue in whitch he talks how he gets why you went with Karlach and that when it’s done, you know where to find him. Unfortunately there is a bug so right now there’s no option to trigger this properly, other than looking into game files. But this is not the intended response.
If romanced you get SO LITTLE....it's critical good stuff, but so very little. This is nice to see, but the idea of not romancing him is ....well, it's impossible for me. That's my wife, period.

If you let Wyll become the blade of avernus u can even hav karlach go back to the hells with wyll and then u r free to stay with whoever you want

@@ChiticariuLaura I got him to become the blade of Avernus with both breaking his contract (which I don’t think u hav to do but not certain on it) and saving his dad. I think the only thing that triggers its choice is finishing the fight with Ansur. It triggers some dialogue that gives u the chance to suggest he becomes the blade of avernus, then on the dock he will say he will go with Karach and u just need to persuade her to not die instead
@@lilylollielegs34 wow I never knew this, I played several times and he became either Grand Duke Ravenguard or in the last one where I saved his father without even trying because I allied with Gortash for the brain fight and also broke Wyll's contract earlier, he just kept being a hero, but without the magic from the Hells, I never went to Ansur in the last one tho

For my run I:
- Allied with Gortash immediately so didn't have to brawl with the steelwatchers in the streets all the livelong day
- Rejected Mizora's pact for Wyll
- Killed Ansur
At this point Wyll was still fairly certain his father was dead which prompted a somewhat unhinged moment where he put of the blue began saying he should take his father's place.
I picked the "follow your heart" equivalent dialogue option, at which point Wyll did a complete 180 and declared himself the blade of Avernus.
- Went and rescued Duke Ravengard
- Killed Gortash
I'm not sure if Wyll would have still opted to become blade of Avernus if Ravengard had died or Gortash had lived, but the Ansur battle seems to be the main shatterpoint for that decision
On my first playthrough I felt sorry for Karlach and went with her to hells... I was so sad when this scene played so I opened the last save, watched Karlach die and enjoyed the time with Astarion :D Noone can step between us, not even Karlach
Wow...I don't think I could ever make a choice that would make him burn in the sun again.
I mean, his choices are burning in the sun or LOSING HIS SOUL. This is the only path he has, other than ascending (which takes his soul and makes him an empty, evil husk). So, like... Personally, I would argue his soul not being devoured is the better ending.
