@@PoM-MoM I think that what the OP meant (and what was on my mind from the moment I heard about her family background) is that, through all her life, Charlie was exposed to a very particular interpretation of the concepts like "honesty", "justice", "frankness", "morality" or "ethics" (this list is not exhaustive).
My gut feeling tells me that her upbringing might let her to believe that these concepts are much more negotiable than most people consider them to be.

@@PoM-MoM - Parents are your first and most important moral compass. Their professions are less than ethical, so the morals they taught their child is questionable. Hedge funds, for the most part are iffy investments, with goofy and often over complex structures, that have a whiff of fraud. Life coach is a made up job for "Karens" with a superiority complex. If you're a life coach, this is directed at you !
It seems shockingly easy to perpetuate fraud on a massive scale. I wonder how much JPMorgan would pay for my Christmas card list, which includes data on 4.25 million of my closest friends and family members.

Having dated one, it's amazing how narcissists sincerely believe they're the smartest people they could ever comprehend, yet are often below-average in intelligence and talent.
I wonder if that is true, though. I have an eye for psychos and narcissists, having been bullied, abused by them in the past. When i was finally 'equipped' with knowledge, i was able to spot red flags on spot. Maybe it helps i am a shy introvert who loved literature and psychology. Once i met a guy who i found very suspicious, the problem was he befreinded my best friend, an extrovert. I was like, please dont hang out with this guy. He presented himself as 'the talented guitarist, great chess player, strong, smart bla bla guy'. He once almost broke my arm bragging he used to be among best in martial arts in army. I told my friend he is at least narc. My friend said he is 'fun'. When we started to play chess, i saw he is a little better than beginner and all other braggins were probably a facade too. ( I am a chess coach in homeless shelter and know a thing or two about chess). Imo, he knew he sucks in fields he was bragging, but portrayed himself as awesome as my friend is very nice, rich, capable.. He was in need of supply i think.
Some narcs really are super talented and fantastic at their job. I've met super stupid narc coworkers, as well. Both types are arrogant, bullying, manipulative and difficult to be around.

@@urospeteh2637 I've studied psychology too! Got my university degree in it in fact. The thing is, narcissists are easy to spot, their behaviour (generally) is predictable. They have a conversation on a date, or at work or whatever, and they quickly can tell someone is empathetic and a people-pleaser. But then they act very nice to that person for a bit, get them to be a friend, or in love, but it's just baiting the trap. Then they'll say things such as "don't you agree?" or "I have no filter" "I have no patience anymore." Once they know they have that person, they flip the switch and become abusive. My narc ex even admitted she was abusive to me, multiple times, but said it was from her own abusive childhood and "if I can't handle her at her worst, I don't deserve her at her best." - but there was no "best" anymore after a few months. I called her out on things, the fights were epic, but not what I wanted in a relationship so I just left it.
If you ever have to actually ask, " _Is this legal_ ?" then it is probably better to assume the matter at hand is *NOT legal* .
Or at least ethical.

Well honest the difference between illegal and legal is the legislators who make the laws. I believe the question is it moral?
One does have to wonder if this could have been his rather kind way of asking her to reconsider... I doubt many people asking such a question are expecting a truthful year answer. More a rhetorical device. "Is this legal?" is a CYA + not directly saying "f- you, I'm not doing this."

I read she paid the professor 2x his asking rate and had him sign an NDA. They also told him that it was some kind business research, like artificial data for modelling or something, although I'm not sure he bought it with all the secrecy. They ended up paying him $50,000 overall, including for the augmented second data set. And Javice actually offered him a job to join her at JP Morgan (not sure he took it).

Fun fact! My boyfriend and I had two cats named Charlie and Frank. They were our BFFs, and they both passed away in the last couple of years. This story brings shame to their memory. 😢😢

With a "life coach" and hedge fund manager for parents, this poor girl had zero chance to grow up to be an ethical, well-balanced, stable adult conducting a non-fraudulent business.
It reminds me of this one kid at school who always bragged about building her business from the ground up which is cool I guess but she always left out the fact that her parents are multimillionnaire and fixed it so she never had to really work. Her business eventually folded but oh well she married some rich Korean guy.
She probably had the ethics of someone like Gates except she got stopped early on.

I'd be interested in studying the pathology of people who are born incredibly wealthy, because so many of them seem to have this insane level of confidence and can fake it until they make it (until they're caught)

Her parents might have come from a not so rich background and had to work for everything they got. She did not. She's considered a rich folk who has no clue about what it means to be poor but attempts to serve the poor, or not so rich, i.e., the ones who need financial aid to attend school. I am drawing parallels with her and Sam Bankman Fried. Mainly her parents occupations and how it helped her in her grifting.
I’m a student and filling out FAFSA is really not this long complicated process like she’s making it sound. I don’t know how you could speed up the process because everything they ask for is important personal information that they need to estimate how much student aid you receive. Once you fill out your FAFSA once it saves all your info for each semester. You don’t have to do anything but resubmit it unless your info or school has changed. Even then you just update what’s changed and submit it.

As a student who just renewed my FAFSA, I have literally never heard of this person or company before watching this video. I chuckled a little bit when you stated that her goal with the company was to "streamline the process of applying for FAFSA," because the hardest part of applying for FAFSA is digging out all your tax information if it's not in the system yet; the IRS seems to be the only civilian federal agency that has any idea how to program a functional computer system and website. Of course, it does check out that the kid of a hedge fund manager and a "life coach" would think the process of filing for student aid is difficult, given that she's been coasting through her whole life on mommy and daddy's money. 🙄
Anyway, this is a bit of a tangent, but I couldn't help but think of Major Frank Burns from MASH whenever i heard the name of the company (my mom loves the show and got the boxed set, inb4 anyone asks how a zoomer knows MASH).

Most schools also have counseling just for this process, as it’s to their benefit, however now more than ever I hope people go into it knowing what career they plan on going into, and the outlook and pay, etc. associated with that given field. To me, that’s the real lesson, and to complete schooling in a way that will result in the highest earning power and least amount of debt, as by now, sadly so many have heard stories of people that can’t find a job with their particular degree, and worse off, went to private schools, etc. let the debt accumulate until it seems hopeless for many to ever pay it all off. Only 30 years ago...when I was getting ready to begin college- that piece of paper meant something. They just GIVE the shit away now because entitled parents who think the instructor is wrong demand that their baby gets a good grade. When I went a "c" was basically an "f" & there were STRICT standards. Not anymore when there are majors like "gender studies" & other bullshit.
We had to dummy down college because the X-Gen couldn’t pass anything and foreigners of 3rd world caused a lot of lowering of standards in everything and especially education! Horrible what we have become. 🤦♀️

The problem is foreign students from 3rd world countries sell their possessions and properties for their kids to go abroad. It is a Prestige and image up lift. When the kids come here parents are out of money and they can’t support them. They end up taking low paid jobs or work cash in hand. It is usually work from someone with their same background who pays them less in comparison to a local. Nepotism is involved here. 😊Hence they don’t have time to study and already from a spoiled rich background they were never into their studies. Only foreign students who are good are doing masters or phd through scholarships. I have even heard stories where dean has asked the tutor to pass the international student. Most people are passing universities through reused assignments. Locals too. It should be more exam based. Universities have become businesses. It’s not like before where societies intellectual elite will go to attain a degree.

Sadly these days the world seems full of Charleys - clearly many seem to be working at Morgan Stanley. This obsession with youth in so many organisations is behind why many large ones are riddled with poor practices
Two areas that stood out to me:
1) That third-party 'data validator' better have a f-ing great set of terms & conditions caveats in their contract agreements. Their assurances were disastrous.
2) I can see very well why JP Morgan 'overpaid' for info on 4m+ students. The future lifetime cross-selling potential is enormous.
Indeed, I wonder if she would’ve continued to grow her REAL data, and attempted to sell once getting closer to a million, she certainly wouldn’t have made 175 million, but surely would’ve made enough to retire on, while also getting a cushy job had she sought one as a part of a (smaller yet not fraudulent) deal. Moronic. Instead she will have plenty of time to think of her next genius plan, likely in the very orange jumpsuit she was so adamant that she’d never have to wear.

The FAFSA process is not at all complicated. But hedge fund babies (including those vetting the deal at JP Morgan) would have no clue. They'd never done it. So it seemed like a good idea to them. Maybe they should try hiring some people with actual life experience.
Seriously. It's genuinely easier than filing taxes, and the online form is especially remarkable for being a functioning government website. 🤣 The hardest part was getting my mom to dig out her tax form, it's so easy.

FAFSA messed up in my case. My name is very similar and my SS# is very similar to my sibling's info. So they denied me. But it was not too difficult to correct.

Dr Grande is quite brilliant with his videos. It mimics to me...without I'm sure being aware of it....a show in Australia called Media Watch....which is a go to programme of all media students...because of its breakdown of news reporting and their loose opinions published as fact. As i see these children today glued to their phones and tablets and not even thinking about going outside to play, much less do any kind of chores, I suspect that when they grow up, they are going to be perpetually dependent. Obviously, JPMorgan setr her up, and she walked right into the trap. Somebody has been watching her rise, there is always somebody watching. She came on the scene like a big player, they showed her the game she was really in. .. My guess, is that young people at schools like Wharton, who are outspoken about unscrupulous business practices being the norm. Things like - Wall St being a feeding pool for sharks in minnow suits, dishonesty the main game, ruthless greed but manipulate the public media to look like a community person, etc. Because,, some people are like that, they think they are playing a game, and are proud to be there doing it, without much thought about morals, because to them, that's the world they think they are in....
Which, that may be right or wrong, but there is a well oiled machine working it, and it's not open for outsiders to come in and run their own grifts. It's not a platform for financial criminals, it's just that it is 'money', and a highly complex system exposed to every tiny office on the planet, and highly susceptible to criminal infiltration, and many, many of them do time. Martha Stewart did time, probably thinking the same way, once she started making friends on Wall St.. She only saw the JPMorgans, aand Goldman's, who have been engineering their own grift for centuries, and thought it was a free for all. I get a strong feeling that's what's going on here. It's like, one too many dumb choices, and someone said, 'Shut her down'.

When I was a kid I attempted to get out of writing sentences by gradually making my cursive less and less legible, and sentences 50-100 were scribbles.
It didn't work.
I can immediately identify what she did wrong. She 1. tried to hire an engineer to cook books, then 2. tried to hire the professor to cook books. What normal fraudsters do, is NOT hire professionals to cook books, they hire people who have no idea what they are doing. If a person must be skilled, the lowest skilled, such as a bookkeeper. Not an accountant, in this example.
She should have opened a OnlyFans page if she wanted to be recognized or fraud people for money that badly.

From my experience in financial aid for higher education there are many resources for free guidance to filling out the FAFSA from colleges, high school, some state organizations. It is not uncommon in my state to have free resources to fill out the FAFSA. Start out by checking with your high schools or colleges if you have FAFSA questions.
