Easy. The wife and kids loved the first batch right away. Now I have to make a 2g batch every Saturday morning and everyone helps themselves all weekend long. Kids love the homemade taste as an alternative to the fake drinks they used to drink. Really glad I started doing this.
great video!!Very clear instructions, whenever i try doing something i always end up missing a step and messin it up,haha, but this was real easy to understand,i will definitely be making some sun tea now,ive been looking for a good video so ill know how to do it and do it right the first time!! Thanks!
awesome video . ive been doing sun brew tea for a while now but i have never thought of putting lemon in while it is brewing big big thanks for the idea.
Did you know that the Rastafarian recommend consuming all herbs by making sun tea? I was learning about this and how the chemicals herbs release vary depending on the temperature, basically you shouldn't burn or boil herbs. Then I looked for a vid on the best way to make sun tea because using the sun to make tea just sounds effing cool and has benefits apparently.. So I found your vid, great stuff and awesome jar you have there sir 👍
i tried to search up what the heck is the drink my dad is brewing, tastes like carbonated apple juice and its brewed in a jar with a pancake shaped "animal"floating and at the bottom is some kind of yeast looking-like "dust" and its carbonating the water
thank you so much. my grandpa used to make this almost every couple days, I just remember playing in the front yard (i was about 4-6) and having to make sure not to knock over the jar of tea he head brewing on the front porch.
@@carriefindingout1094 Tea in general shouldn't sit in the fridge more than a few days. It being in the sun while it brews makes it more susceptible to going bad.
Thanks for the video. Wondering how to make tea like my grandma always did. Wondering though if you could use loose leaf tea with a infuser or something?
I used one gallon with ten tea bags and it was still too weak. I also added sugar. Do you drink your tea without sugar? Hey, my friend, thanks for the great video.
I love sun tea. We've made it every summer for years. BUT I feel it's necessary to point out that you need to be careful when making it. Make sure your container is extremely clean and try to use filtered water. Making tea in the sun doesn't kill bacteria in the water like boiling it does, so don't leave it out of the fridge for long and don't make more than what you'll drink in a day or two.
I use 8 tea bags per gallon. Then again, I’m a tea drinker... a full gallon fills six 16oz jars plus an extra 16oz or so for drinking... (it really fills 8 jars but nobody ever fills the brewing jar that full)...

Layron Doyal Great!
that was very helpful I thought u had to boil the water but now I know u don't have too. thank you very much
The hotter outside the better. Enjoy.
But you would still like to used distilled or filtered clean water.

Love it greetings from Germany
Nice.
Thx I also used to drink those bottles of tea I’m about to try this
Great. Please let me know how you like it.
William Quinn sorry it took me so long to reply I almost forget but It was good I actually made it again about a day ago
@@ineedaespresso306 That's OK. Hope you enjoy it.
Nice and easy
Yes it is. The more sun the better.
i love sun tea
Nice.
I love doing this with green tea i find it so much less bitter than if i use hot water
Nice.
80C temp. water for green tea to avoid bitter taste. Some do with 100 C temp to extract enzyme = deeper bitter taste. *♡~
Thanks man, those bottles of iced tea are full of chemicals. Giving it a try today here in Austin.
si!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I guess in Germany were its not that hot (maybe 29 degrees max a few days in the years) it will be hard to sunbrew?
thanks
You are very welcome.
Foodwishes?
After the sun tea has been brewed, how long can u keep it for before it goes bad
Never happens because we drink it so fast.
Will using an empty pickle glass jar work??
I am sure it will.
What size are the tea bags, Small or family size?
I used to small packs.
How long does it stay good in the fridge🤗
Unknown. It doesn't last long at all.
I’ve never seen a 2 gallon glass jar. Interesting!
Walmart
Can you use a plastic pitcher?
Yes.
Can i use a plastic lid instead of a metal lid???
I use a metal lid. Plastic should be alright.
How much water do you use?
This is a two gallon jug.
Can u leave this out side still after u take the tea bags out of it.
I would put into a cooler to keep it fresh.
@@billyq12001 ok ty. I just wanted to keep it under the sun and moon for energy.
@@ChadRider12 Give it a try and see what happens. You can reply with the outcome if you wish.
Wow, only 5 tea bags, I have been using more.
You can use more it you wish.
Wow five in 2 gallon. I use 10 bags in one.
Use to your taste.
I heard normal was 10-12 bags per 1 gallon thats how much lipton would use!
So about 3 hours to make tea?
Depends on how hot the sun is.
I read you gave to use 8 teabags per gallon. Do you really only need 5 bags for 2 gallons????
It all up to how strong you want your tea.
si☺!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also the uv keeps the bacteria out!
Agreed.

Darren Leung kombucha!!
Only problem with this method is waiting 3 hours for my tea haha
Think about all of the things you can do in three hours.
Why did you add cold water? Pointless! You could have gotten a faster brewing with room temperature water.
Really doesn't matter in the heat.
You save so much plastic and so much money.
So true. Thanks.

MsAshG Why not. I did it with loose green tea leafs.

Lemon and now sugar. The sun is high and hot here in Maryland. Solar panels are hot too. Enjoy.

Question after 3hours brewing can you store the tea in the refrigerator?? For week or so??
Until cold. Normally overnight.

Thanks for the post. Container is cleaned before filling with filtered water. It is a must that you do not leave it out overnight. You may forget it.
Taya3211 Umm...actually it does. It’s called “SODIS”. Look it up. The uv rays from the sun tear apart microbes in the water.
