  • Dr. Phil continues his conversation with Ashley and Megan, who say they were sexually abused for years by their step-grandfather. And although he has been convicted, the siblings say their grandmother, Peggy, continues to deny that the abuse ever took place. Peggy insists her granddaughters are lying and have ruined her life. Is there any hope of fixing this fractured family? Hear from Ashley and Megan’s mother, Brenda, who says she is furious with Peggy, whom she trusted to care for her daughters. Did Brenda ever suspect anything was going on? How can Ashley and Megan begin to heal the wounds of the past and move forward? Plus, Dr. Phil shares information every parent needs to know to keep their kids safe. This program contains strong sexual content. Viewer discretion advised. (2213302)

Is it possible that she dosen't know the real truth because of what the grandma told her friend? Many people don't understand the complexity of sexually abused and the psychological ramifications that it has on the abused, the abuser and the other people around them. Because I have been sexually molested, I know when another person has been sexually abused or raped. They don't have to say anything some how you just know.

Right? The friend is the worst! Being sarcastic and "reminding" the grandmother of things that were said or helping her to fill in the gaps of her own memory - why would you run to the side of a woman who calls her own grandchildren liars and goes along with this all to say the whole trial was rigged? You people are not important enough to set up - this isn't the trial of the century, this is unfortunately family molestation that he was convicted of. A grand jury saw the evidence and considered it probable cause to go to trial, the jury decided it after weighing all of the evidence - evidence I bet they STILL don't know all of and these two wrinkled prunes just self-righteously sit there looking smug like they know everything. When the grandmother said her husband was "in-fa-tint" I just shook my head. Molesters or rapists for that matter don't always use their genitals, it's about power and manipulation but these two old bats don't know enough about seemingly anything to get that.

She should be talking to the grandmother and getting her into a better place instead of starting a fire all the time with anger. There was so much anger coming out of her seat. This same thing happened to a friend of mine. After her farther would SA her, her mother would pray for her to be ok. When my friend told her best friend she told her mother and they called the police. Charges were filed and my friends mother testified against her when she saw and knew it was happening. She is more angry with her mother for doing that than she is for her father SA'ing her over and over. If I knew for a second that anyone touched my kids or grandkids you would see a Tasmanian devil come out of me protecting them and putting the piece of garbage in jail. 🌪

Sadly, many survivors of Childhood SA want validation from those who should have known what was happening to them and should have been protecting them from the monsters! It’s nearly drove me crazy (literally) trying to get that validation, until one day I came to the conscious decision that I was never going to get it and decided that was NOT my burden to bare!! That was on the one who should have protected me! I was the innocent child and I would love and nuture myself !! My mental health improved dramatically! The one thing thing I learned about scars, is that means the wound is no longer open and festering…if the wounds are scarred it means they’re healed

For this wife. This mother. This grandmother to even allow a ‘maybe’ would devastate her. Her entire reality of her marriage. Her motherhood. Her grandmother hood is on the line here and she’s like a dog w a bone! For her to be so entrenched in her position that she cannot even allow a ‘maybe’. A ‘what if’ speaks to me of an entrenched mindset of denial that been curated over decades. If anyone could pierce thru this it would be Dr Phil. A very wise educated highly skilled human being who has dedicated his life to helping people. Last opinion I think this grandmother will take the truth of her husband’s sins to her grave. Why? Because she’s made it all about her. Not those girls.

Fact: Those girls are solid, stable, and their minds remained focused even as emotions and the audience went wild. You don't gain that ability by backing lies, as evidenced by gma's flights. You gain that fortitude by facing the darkness and building yourself back despite other's doubt and naysaying.
Regardless, a grown man with his hands on a girl's legs is inappropriate no matter what occasion. Even firefighters and EMS will apologize and make boundaries clear after rescue if they had to save a life by getting private. And anyone who doesn't have anything to feel ashamed of would denounce and apologize for any part they had in such misconduct.

These poor girls that were molested need to understand that they will never get what they want from their grandmother. They are wanting her to acknowledge what happened to them and feel sorry for her part in it. But the type of person that allows that to happen in the first place is not a good person. She's twisted and sick, just like the molester. So she's never going to feel sorry because she's broken. She's not normal. I hope they can find peace without her apology.

Grandmother knew in her heart he was molesting her granddaughters. Unfortunately the era of the grandmother age puts her in the age of society "keep your dirty laundry at home!" No one talked about sexual abuses when grandma was growing up.
I grew up in the late 60/70's ect. I had two very touchy uncles they were my mom's two sister's (my aunts) husbands. My mother, my older brothers and sisters would tell us younger siblings to stay away from these two uncles. They would tell us not to get close to them and not allow them to get close to us either. One day my mom and older sisters were out grocery shopping and my uncle perverted George stopped by our house. I answered the door told him my mom and sisters were not home that pervert chased me around the house and as i ran outside my family pulled in the driveway. I ran to my mom and told her what uncle George did she kicked him out of our house and called her sister, my aunt. The whole family knew what these two uncles were like, but that time people did not talk about molesters and molestations. If it happened today these two uncles would have been in jail.
