I dont like it, I prefer when Starscream was a rival to Megatron. After all the abuse that Starscream suffer by Megatron's hand, see he being 'loyal ' to him like that, It seems like Megatron have domesticated Starscream.

Gotta love the little touch of Shockwave's eye dimming when he says Unicron and the aftermath result og his survival of the terracon-preds. He definetly did show a hint of fear even if he has no kind of mouth visible. The eye and head antenna's are more than enough to signify things with him.
He was scared shitless and couldn't think straight. Instead of using his big brain, he acted out of fear and starting blasting. Just mere moments ago, the God of death was literally before him.
As cold and unfeeling as shockwave is most of the time I felt bad for him here you could tell he was afraid and it even shows in his eye. While he survived the encounter imagine how he felt when all the teracons started piling on him
It makes sense for him to be afraid since he knew what's gonna happen. He knew he had no chance of escaping and Starscream literally ditched his ass just like before during the Autobot assult on his lab.
Considering WFC and FOC are in the same continuity, I just imagine Shockwave was *seriously* regretting switching out from a weird Jet-thingy to a Tank after he saw Starscream cut and run.
I think of it this way: Grimlocke taking his arm was such a shocking event in his life that his thought process changed in order to prevent it from happening again in fear of something worse happening to his body. So rather than getting a new arm like starscream he altered his body to tower over cliffjumper (as when he tried to fight Cliff and Jazz in FOC he had to run unlike in many instances of prime) rather than just being a little taller, gave himself a new gun arm akin to a fusion cannon like megatrons, and a heavily armored tank alternate mode so he's less passive in combat. This to me is also an excuse for why Shockwave isn't voiced by Steve Bloom in Prime. Unfortunately this scene was the Grimlocke situation X alot, and he probably had a mental breakdown

Shockwave was scared frozen the entire time after he realized it was Unicron! Especially when the Terracons were coming after him. His antenae just kept jittering around, while he was still taking the situation in. Hes always been devoted to keeping Cybertron alive, so that may be why he fears Unicron so much. Its impressive to see his expressions when he lacks facial features!
Now I think about it: Shockwave joining Team Prime would be a game-changer. It may be hypothetical, but to have the top Decepticons in the scientific/medical field would exponentially tip the scales in the Autobots' favor.
It would have definitely tipped the scales, not only is he a brilliant scientist, he is the only one who holds the other side of the synth-en formula ratchet was attempting to recreate, they would have had infinite fuel, had they had shockwave with them to help crack the code

His logic tell him these creature gonna threatened Cybertron. Just because he work as scientists for megalomaniac Megatron doesnt mean he want his own planet to be destroyed. The most logical things to do is to slow them all down
Pretty sure zombie dragon bots broke his brain. There was no way to wrap his scientific mind around it, and he was too stunned to do anything other than try to shoot them down in a blind panic. Rare for Shockwave, but it was under rather rare circumstances.
