The name's Bond... James Bond...
007 is ready for his incredibly popular first person shooter for the Nintendo 64. Rather than taking the usual stealthy strategy, secret agent 007 treats this first person shooter like any other and runs around shooting things with a complete disregard for human life, including his own.
While this run seems to be slower than the previous run ( tasvideos.org/1007M ), it actually plays all the regular levels faster and also plays two additional bonus levels!

My favorite part of the movie was when Pierce Brosnan pulled out his 3rd arm to shoot a gun while firing his laser watch.

I'm sure this game introduced the idea of speedrunning to a lot of people since you had to beat stages quickly to unlock cheats

He's like World Of Longplay. You don't know who's behind the control, yet he is good at the game.
Let me tell you about Tas. He don't have a life. He spent his time playing game and beat any record no prob.

TAS is an acronym that stands for "Tool Assisted Play". With most emulators of popular retro consoles there are many tools for the player to record and re-record inputs and go frame by frame and in some cases even look at the code for potential RNG (random number generation) manipulation. It is *NOT* AI simply playing the game for you. AI and deep machine learning is still a long way off from simply playing a game and quickly learning how to master it, even if it's a simple retro 8-bit 2D game. TAS is a player, or multiple players working on the same project in some cases, that painstakingly goes through the game editing the inputs for the fastest possible playthrough. All the program is doing is simply playing all the recorded inputs in a single sequence.
@@mariobros68 World Of Longplay is low-rez low-framerate crap these days. I highly recommend Longplay Archives, they basically do the same thing, but in much better quality.
Also, I don't know if you're joking or serious, as a TAS is an input recording playback, it is done by many people. That's like claiming a sport like basketball is played by a single person every time.😅 Just look at who is getting credited to know who did the specific TAS. It takes credit away from hard-working people to claim that TAS is a single nameless person or that TAS is simply some AI playing. I notice most people talk about TAS these days with a severe case of the Dunning Kruger Theory effect.🤦♂️

I love seeing TAS breakdowns by the creators and how they delved into the code or the environment for potential skips. It's great.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a faster tas in 11 years. There's no way there haven't been some time saves since this tas was recorded.
I had got all the timed cheat code finishes as a kid, it's nice to see all the levels lined up like this.

For those who don't like how much this looks at the floor for saving time on loading, you can look at the older, obsoleted run by Rising Tempest which doesn't do this. Slightly slower (well it takes less time because it doesn't have the Aztec and Egyptian). It is at v=4z_45lpmPaU

One subtle thing I appreciate is that you pause at the mission clear to show the times you got on the missions

Great execution. Too bad "going fast" also means "looking down". Another good example of "What really matters is the travel, not the destination".

Segmented - takes the best take of every mission
Tas uses slowdown and rng manipulation to make more precise actions and get desired results. In goldeneye that would be enemies hitting you from behind to give you speed, missing you in front so you keep momentum, and presumably being able to out maneuver/get lucky misses from turrets

Basically he's forced to stick around to protect Natalya so he has nothing better to do. All the doors to the other objectives are locked until she's done if I remember correctly.
