Back here in 2024....as a 64yr old.
It's my go-to when l need a bit of Ska nostalgia!
Hell yeah 🤘

i would spend hours trying to get my hair to look like this ,, and im a gal lol
Unbelievable ! I'm back here, unwittingly ! I'm 62 and so dancing to it (fortunately, no one is seeing me). It takes you out of any possible funk.
Same here, I'm going to be 63 on May 5th. I've been doing a lot of musical reminiscing 😊
Dancing too, can't forget that. My kitchen is my ballroom
My husband loved this song, every time I hear it..I think of him.. us, I miss the good ole days so much. 😕
Good times
👐 🙌 👏 🙏 🤝 👍 these days will come b a c k one day . . . as Goethe once said . . .
You are not alone. I miss the days when we could laugh and if not agree then
cordially agree to disagree. And laugh and poke fun at each other. It DID use to be this way before woke hatred and insanity along with division of society for wicked motives.
I saw Ted Nugent's band do this once
Right there with ya, dear 👊
I'm 69 & won my transitor radio in a coloring contest at a local drug store. I loved my little transitor radio. Thought it was so cool I could pick up WLS from Chicago late at night! Listened to it every night. This song & all the great bands. Bring back the 70's! ☮👩🦳🎶
Well, if you gave a teenager a transistor too day ,they would laugh in your face, FANTASTIC AND BRILLIANT 👏 AND BEAUTIFUL 😍, TAKE CARE 😢😮
Remember "Animal stories" with Larry Lujack and "Little snot nosed Tommy on WLS"? And "Beaker Street" on KAAY from Little Rock Arkansas? Wow! Great times!
At first I thought you said that you won a transistor radio in a coloring contest when you were 69 hahahaha
It's a transistor radio.
WLS!!!:)) EPIC!!
Who first heard this a small transistor radio in the early seventies?😎
First heard in a gremlin on eight track.
I was 9 and loved listening to my little red transistor on ckrc AM RADIO here in Winnipeg, Canada.
Saw them on top of the pops!
I had the 45.

Released in the UK 50 years ago today 14/09/2023 Still a great record........... Thanks guys for all the years of listening pleasure.................
I'm turning 58 soon, not regretting much except missing their music, they contributed so much in such a short time. If you listen to other bands from late 70s to 80s you will hear their influence.
Noooo! Don't say that. 50 years ago was just the other day. I'm sure of it.
The 1970s were terrific.
We survived being with friends

ETC.ETC. Music, movies were all the cutting edge. Unfortunately today all a rehash withdrawn society. Hope we change and really enjoy new things. We all deserve it.

I am mad the Queen has not knighted them postumasly, and Andy Scott, in a live version!
@@lisamcbride8921 Never had the world wide fame as the Beatles!

And mr. Andy Scott
I was 8 at the time, I'm 57 now, I've heard tens of thousands of records by now, and this is still *easily* in the top 10 of best sounding tracks I've ever heard. Yes, it's silly - so what?
check amazing Tia Carrere's cover of this track, very cool
hurrah!! this song has been in my top ten as well for decades
58 myself and I agree with you completely...
I'll be 59 on Saturday I agree wholeheartedly
not at all i am same age as you and still remember being blown away at age 8 (except blockbuster was my fave)
70s music never gets old. ❤
I'm here because this is the music I grew up with and it still KICKS ASS!!!
Me too! But we're being overrun with kiddos who just heard it for the first time on some movie and now think they discovered it. LOL
lisalu910 is that really a bad thing though? These kids are enjoying music they would never usually know about because of those movies, you should appreciate that at least
No, its not a bad thing at all. Its good that they are hearing some of the music from the past that has stood the test of time. Its amusing, though, that they have just "discovered" these songs that have been there all along. Maybe they'll realize there's a lot more where this came from!
Lori....they suck.
We want Sweet, always been my favourite glitter band..
I saw an interview with Brian just weeks before his death, and he was an absolute gentleman. He wasn't big headed or ego ridden, just a humble man with a great history we all heard, especially on Top Of The Pops in the 70's.
RIP Brian, a good bloke and a great singer.
@betty davis The true professionals are, yep.
Brian was such a good singer and did appear very down to earth in all of the interviews i have seen.
All the good people are taken to early.
With an absolutely sexy voice.
I think Brian was already very ill during that interview. He was literally shaking because of his alco abuse, but my father still loves him
I listen and look it ever and ever - a golden age of music, youth, mankind...
Golden age of lipsyncing??

Never Underrated by music lovers The Sweet still stand today. Their appeal easy to define - great musicians - loads of charisma and they loved what they did.
The best of all Times to growth up, with all that great music... no mobil Phone... no Internet... ;-)
That was a golden era and of course the sweet were our Heroes...so fuckin great Band...!!!!
A quick reminder to those who consider this band underrated: they sold over 50 million records worldwide. Misunderstood perhaps, but hardly underrated.
Yep - when Fox on the Run came out you couldn't turn the radio on for more than about 5 minutes without hearing it again in Australia.
If I could have a tenner for every time I have seen that word 'underrated' in a sentence describing singers/bands that were anything but I would already have retired!
@@maxxuman9915 In Uk, it was ever Sweet Slade or Trex on the radio every 5 minutes

I was nine. I put several quarters in a couple jukeboxes in restaurants my parents took me to. As a kid it was that high melodic break that got me. Of course the chunka chunka ALWAYS got my attention.
As far as I'm concerned The Sweet were the Kings of Glam, their appearances on Top of the Pops were legendary, and Steve Priest was hilarious with his naughty boy antics! Ahh, happy, happy days never forgotten.
Yes, indeed!
I don't know, it would be a tight race between them and Slade.
Nah T-rex were the King's of Glam Rock
Yes, sweet and Slade, i think noddy holder was a better singer and a writing machine with jim
These guys just blew me away as a kid - there was simply no other band like them in the UK at the time - their musicianship and vocal prowess was off the charts. Then their B Sides!!!! Oh my!!!!!!!!
They were skilled musicians. What an era…

That drum riff is classic and unforgettable !!! The people in the studio enjoyed themselves....
I personally like Brian's hair
Somehow i don't think the drummer is really playing live though. Could be wrong of course.
@@Buster_Piles Well, he's playing real well near the end of the song after he threw his drum sticks away.
and I love the end when Mick throws his sticks and plays with his hands - basically just mocking the show for making them lipsync and play-sync!!

Very British!
Adorable British😉👍❤🌹
I have never seen anything like this. Whenever something is portrayed as "the 70s", it is just shown as little things. This video is crazy because it shows what it actually was like at that time as opposed to just people wearing bell-bottoms and colorful clothing. This video feels like a time machine.
Everyone seems so happy and energetic.
Totally agree - it was a fabulous time - everyone naturally moving and not trying to show off dancing like a stripper - genuinely enjoying it.
great days.. the beginning of the end...
There are lot's of seventies videos on CZcams.
Soul Train and American Bandstand videos.
And concert videos like Midnight Special and Don Kirchner's Rock Concert.
Also late night TV shows like Tomorrow with Tom Snyder and others.
Then you also have British shows like Top of the Pops and German shows like this one.
Tons of great stuff if you just look for it.
That looks like so much fun. This is one of the pinnacles of rock n' Roll. It's uplifting that individuals in the seventies, when economic turmoil was so low, grey indistinct hardship form every turn and government followed the trend. How this short of music and culture has outlasted our fear, forever. Why do we make our life's so complicated?
@@nigeljohnson4880 Huh? These are young people having fun. I guess you are British. Nobody was thinking about any of that stuff in America. At least young people weren't. Positively was in the air... Best decade for culture and music.
I have a 79 Firebird that I am currently making into a time machine. I can't wait to get back to the seventies!

When I was a teenager, too many moons ago, this was our secret weapon in home parties - people shied up, music playing and nobody dancing - then The Ballroom Blitz would come to the rescue and everybody jumped in!
I once had to grab the bike and drive some 40 miles to go pick the 45 rpm magic single, to salvage a totally dead party with some 40 people in a complete cold stasis, and it woke them!
Thank you Sweet!

fantastic energy and an unforgettable vocal by the late brian connolly.
I remember when this song came out, it knocked my socks off in 1973-74! It still makes me dance crazy, a little less now however...old age is not my friend.😆
The spinning drum sticks..he was brilliantly at this..
He definitely enjoyed a little twiddle, every now and then.
@Jim McCracken guess he didn't think he needed extra drum sticks when the band is lip syncing
Twas very cool.
Yeah, the late Mick Tucker was ace with those sticks.
He was actually a fucking top notch drummer

I have to agree with many other comments that the Sweet were criminally underrated. Their look was super-cool too.
Drummer was awesome.
Even when he throws his sticks away 3:14 and just starts randomly slapping the skins with his fingers?
Yes, Paul, he was outing the fact they were lip syncing this time around. Then he tossed the cymbals and the drums, as the beat continues, driving that point home. He was having fun with it. He is a great drummer.

Mick Tucker, is the best drummer I ever listemed to, he is very profeesional and his stick control is the best in the world.
May you rest in piece....
LOL That was the most unauthentic fake drumming I've seen in a long time. The best part was when he "hit the crash cymbal" like he had a stick, yet there was nothing in his hand, and the cymbal didn't move.
Your kidding right??Were you stranded on a desert island with just a sweet album and this 45?
I enjoyed the fact he'd had enough of the BBC's format of mime and demonstrated against it. I mean it is a bit shit getting any kind of rock band to mime a song with their instruments, then put it on tv for millions of people to see.
@@fukkingusernames totally loved it when he launched the sticks into the audience, drummed with his hands and then threw the lot overboard, even Steve was applauding, and the audience going wild! Sweet just didn't give a Sweet Fanny Adams ;)
@@broeheem2804Either you don't know much about Mick or you don't know much about TV in the 70s. Of course they were playing to a backing track because they were made to. It was a lifetime ago but Brian is still the one I could listen to for hours! So tragic for so many reasons. Keep trucking Andy, you're what we've got left!
I can't believe how old i am gosh still today I love and sing this to myself, and it will always stay with us, a classic song
Such a weird ass song, I remember being 9 years old and remember the "Ballroom Blitz" and all the lyrics to boot. Growing up 70's indeed. Let's not forget "Love is like oxygen" and of course the fabulous "Fox on the run". I was called a "Fox" in the 70's a couple of times ;) .
How brilliant were they? Way beyond their time and I loved them.
R.I.P Steve Priest.....thanks for your distinctive vocal input and bass playing in one of the 70s Greatest Glam bands. It was such a pleasure to listen to you and your bandmates that was THE SWEET...now enjoy your rest fella.
One of my all-time favorite songs and it's older than me by 5 years. I love this song so much it just makes you want to jam
No auto tune or synthesizers. When music was music. These guys ROCKED.
ROCKED is RIGHT
? plenty of great bands use synths, what kinda comment is that? You don't like Emerson, Lake and Palmer or anything?
I've just now started exploring these guys deeply. Totally underrated band. They were spectacular.
One of their most underrated albums was - Off the record.
Dj supported them several times. They’re bubblegum sound overshadowed their tight harmonies etc
They were deadly, live. My first gig, at 12.
indeed
Welcome on board the glam boat :)
Very sad to lose another member of this awesome underated band! RIP Steve! 🙏☮️💗😰🎵
Hi sweet hope you're okay?
They were Good. We must not forget them!
Years ago, I enjoyed listening to this song when I was a teenager. Now I am glad they still play it on CZcams. It sounds a lot better then listening to it on the record player.

the 70s when music was great
The range and dynamics of the vocals in this song is pure genius. And what a hell of a rhythm section, the unified wall of sound they produced from what was essentially a 3 piece band is incredible.
Класс
Sang this song for karaeoke. I was able to do all of it except for screaming YEAHHHHHH YEAAAAHHHH. Cannot hit that high
They were top class musicians and vocalists live.
Entwistle/Moon/Townshend could do this too.
@@gunternetzer9621 I was about to say the same thing! Great Minds Think Alike.
Another fantastic song from my school years , music like this is in my memories of those days
This song is timeless, it's so original it really doesn't fit any genre so it doesn't fade with the times. Just really far ahead of everything else from the time and just true creative genius.
YES!
That's because they didn't have genres back then. Everybody listened to the music. Watch some of the old Woodstock clips. There wasn't any segregation. They all enjoyed it.
What a stunning drummer Mick Tucker was, great!!
