The best places in Helsinki are found in a wide variety of neighbourhoods. To show you the best Helsinki has to offer, I'll show you my fav places. First up Katajanokka!
By hazzard (facebooks usual ramdomlike manner by putting up stuff on my wife's page) did we stumple over your video. Just a great think to happen after reading that our usual place for coffee in Helsinki, Kahvitupa, a bit further out from Arabia, is closing. Great videos and nice comments. Katajanokka was and still are our number one area in Helsinki - have stayed in the prison3 times! For your 'collection' a fine say typical finnish joke. Nearly 30 years ago we (railway-employed amateur photographers) was staying at a hotel in Rondane, Norway a Finnish colleage enjoying Carlberg (Danes always bring ekstra beers knowing nothern prices!) became philosophical: "What are the best things we've got in our countries?" "Denmark - beer, like this Carlberg!", "Finland - our blondes, all Finnish girls", "Norway - just look our these windows - nature, their mountains" here he pointed in the direction of Jotunheimen - long break, "Eh Sweden, yes what about Sweden", longer break "Oh yeah of couse - they've got great neighbours". Everybody - except the Swedish colleagues had a laugh - but leave it be they don't even understand nor Norwegian or British humour and Danish irony even our selfirony is nonsence to them. Sorry a bit long and from before political corretness from USA via Sweden invaded Scandinavia.
My aunt used to live in the light yellow building on the right at 0:43. I spent my days with her in the early sixties while my parents were working. Lovely neighbourhood indeed.
I haven't been there in a long time but according to your video and Google Street View that street looks pretty much the same. My aunt moved away from Kauppiaankatu in the '80s and if she were alive she would be 100 years old next summer. She also took me to play at the park that is now known as Tove Jansson's Park.
"It is a beautiful Finnish autumn day" and the video was published in March. It makes you think that Finland is in the southern hemisphere, maybe somewhere close to New Zeeland? 😁
@@VeryFinnishProblems Yes, I've been few times since it was just downstairs. :-D But it's a small world indeed because now I live in Ullanlinna and, if I remember correctly, it's actually in the same block where you live! I realized it after a video you posted some time ago. XD
Sorry to say, but Skatudden is absolutely not a beautiful neighbourhood in Helsinki - really not close to one of the most beautiful ones. Cramped, no nature, windy, not that interesting really. Sorry!
Toinen Osoite Well, beauty is apparently in the eye of the beholder, so while I hear what you’re saying I have to disagree. At least part of it has really beautiful architecture, imo 👌
@@VeryFinnishProblems As you say, it is all about IMO. I do respect your thoughts about the architecture - or at least in some parts of Skatudden the architecture is really nice. Otherwise, I unfortunately have to stick to my original point :-)

Fantastic! Thanks for the funny story and the kind words. Happy to hear you and your wife love Helsinki as much as me :)

Cool! I Has it changed much since those days?

I'm impressed with an Englishman being so au fait with Finland and good pronunciation of the language as well.
Kiitos paljon! Although I should be pretty au fait, I've lived here for 16 years :)
@@VeryFinnishProblems I still admire you as it's one of the most difficult languages to learn. Keep up the good work!
That Wellamo looks great. I have been too few times in Katajanokka. Usually just in the Viking terminal.
You should def check it out if you have the chance. It's got cool old school decor and food's pretty good too! :)
Brilliant video! Looking forward to heading down to Helsinki
Irish in Finland Kiitos paljon! You should def check out Katajanokka, if you have the chance. Super beautiful 👌
As soon I have the opportunity I'm going to visit 👍
Great vid! I used to live in Kruununhaka but didn't know half this stuff 😂👌
Kiitos tosi paljon, Mikko! One of the great pleasures of doing these videos is doing the research. :)

Lol! We all know seasons makes no sense here (he says while watching snow fall in April)
@@VeryFinnishProblems Yes ,well, true that. There's nothing like a vappu picnic with a snowflake slowly descending in your champagne glass 🧡
Me, i prefer Alppila by far! Good connections to everywhere in Helsinki and close enough to center!
My old neighborhood!
Yeah, it super beautiful and really charming. What street did you live on?
@@VeryFinnishProblems Literally in the house with the funny frog you pointed out at the beginning, in Vyökatu. 😁
@@Pedro_99 No way! Small world! Did you ever go to Wellamo?

You missed The Rahapaja - The Mint !
I stayed in the prison!
Cool! What was it like?
