- Matty Beniers and Eeli Tolivanen headlined a massive night for the offence with a goal and an assist each as the Seattle Kraken defeated the Dallas Stars 7-2, to take a 2-1 lead in their second round playoff series.

When they spend 20 seconds on the 1st period, you know it's gonna be a crazy game.
Sportsnet highlights go brrr
Wish there would be like 15mins+ highlights showing some little scraps, intense shifts, good passing plays etc
@@Finnglishh To be fair, there were so many goals in this one that there really wasn't time for much else.
@@rockinmel1 thats why I would want to have 15mins+ highlights you feel me. Feels like it has to be all wrapped into 9mins. For example I had no idea about makar hit after whistle (after watchin highlights) and someone asked me "well makar is suspended 1 game did u see that hit?" and I was like hmm no? So that is 1 example. There is surely so much stuff true hockey fans wants to see. And im finnish + have a job so I dont have time to watch every game afterwards
@@Finnglishh Yes, that would be great - I know there are often 15-minute highlights for soccer, so it can be done. Sometimes the league might not want to put a bad hit on their videos, but more great plays that don't result in a goal would be nice (we do get those when a game is 1-0 😀).
“The all-important seventh goal” cracked me up quite a bit more than it should have I think.
No lead is safe. 7 minimum.
As a Penguins fan the 7th goal has a deep tradition here starting back in the Lemieux days. Off and on local food joints have rotated giveaways. The 1st was Wendy's way back in the late 80's. 7 goals meant a free bowl of chili. Even to this day the 7th goal to a Pens fan is called the "Chili" goal. McDonalds for awhile gave out free Big Macs. Now Eat N' Park I hear gives out a free bowl of chili the day after a 7 goal game.
@@joeheid2776interesting, I did not know that. I was kind of wondering why he said the important 7th go myself other than it sealed the game. The game felt like it was already over
Gotta convert that PAT.
I can't help but root for the Kraken with all the ex oilers on that team. Also, just love their commitment to each other. They're playing as a complete team, playing for each other. I don't know much about Seattle but Edmonton is a blue collar town and all we ever want is for the our boys to work hard. Kraken fans should be so proud of how hard these boys are working. No matter what happens, they can be proud their team leaves it all on the ice every game.
Great comment
Seattle is a limp wristed skinny jeans town. But there are some blue collar folk that reside there. It's quite possible that every single one was at the game last night.
All edmontonians want is more meth. Rogers is surrounded by tweakers. It's a sad sad city.
@@whiskeymonk4085 Ignorant. Boeing still has huge plants in the Seattle area, and there is a massive maritime/fishing industry based here. Construction has a large presence in this City where dozens of 40+ story buildings have been constructed in the last 10 years along with highway and rail tunnels.
@@absea7918 Ok soy child.
The amount of blow outs in this playoffs already is really amazing. It's like teams take turns taking complete nights off.
Are you talking in NHL general or this series? game 1 OT 2nd game even though Dallas won by 3 still feel like it was a closer game. This was the first game one of these teams just got tourched. In NHL in General your right never know what were gonna see each night. Benerad goes to Anahiam/Van. If he goes to Van calling some shanigians
Are we watching the same playoffs? There have been an incredible amount of overtime games or games where the goalie is pulled and one team is trying to tie it up in the last minute
@@GR-bn3xjOilers 5 zu 1 vs Vegas

@@woibdoubs1011 there have been 61 games played in the playoffs so far. Over 20 have been 1 goal games. This doesn't even include the games that were one goal games in the final minute where an empty net goal was scored. If you add those in, then you've got half the games are coming down to the final minute. Yes there have been a few blowouts specifically the devils and Carolina have been over by the third period in each game. But you have a 50% chance the game is going to come down to the last minute and maybe a 15% chance it'll be a blowout. The rest are somewhere in between. Every year will have it's share of blow outs and OT games. What is a lot is subjective, as you may think 10 blow outs is a lot and I think it's not. I just have not thought there have been an unusual amount of blowouts compared to past years.
@@GR-bn3xj There were lots of OT games in the first round but also an equal number of games that weren't even close. Look at the Rangers/Devils series. Rangers won 3 games 5-1, 5-1, 5-2 while Devils won two 4-0 games with only one game going to OT. Then yesterday you had 1 OT game (Panthers/Leafs) and 2 blowouts (8-4 Devils and 7-2 Kraken).
WIth the amount of blowouts so far, this NHL playoffs feel more like baseball playoffs where depending on the pitching rotation, a team can win 8-2 one game and then lose 7-1 the next.
The hurricanes and Stars both slept on the job today
New jersey is better than caroline
@@tompson3444 not even close
The canes got screwed with basically being 5 on 3 for almost 3.5 minutes. Definitely wasn’t their game tho
@@pyrobandicoot5383
Yeah, the refs were horrible,
Devils played well though…
@@PeteWaan big time devils and hughs, and wood had a hell of a game. It’s nice seeing a competitive game, it’s been a while since the hawks looked good lol
Kraken look like the most complete team this playoffs. All 4 lines scoring No big superstar taking all the points. Solid team effort, playoffs be crazy tho.
This certainly looks like the Kraken's first ever statement win in the postseason. Jake Oettinger got lit up in the second period.
Let's get another win on Tuesday!
Oh my God, the deep was loud as hell tonight let’s go kraken yeeeeeeeeehawwwww
6:38 I love how the whole arena is like *oh* when Dallas scores their 2nd goal
Crazy night of hockey. Panthers up 3-0, Devils score 8 and Kraken 7.
Kraken hitting all cylinders. Awesome! LETS KEEP GOING KRAKEN!!!!
I'm not a Sea-Krak fan, but I do love those unis. Whoever designed them should get an award for great design and color scheme.
As a fan of the Cthulhu mythos, I completely agree. They are amazing and Seattle's form is doing those uniforms justice.
Man that Eberle goal was a Dang It all the way around. Heiskanen drilled in the face with the initial shot, then Eberly breaks the lens of the goal cam on the goal.
HAHAHAHAHA YES
I would have never bet Oettinger would look rattled like this. Seattle just flew past the Stars tonight though. They carried play for close to a full game. Have to give him some help to get home back in the game there.
$$$$$
forgive me if im wrong because im not the most knowlegable in hockey, but it looked like the defense in front of was sloppy. but at the end it definitely looked like he was rattled
@@botboi4334 oh yea, they did not play remotely good team defense. Usually Oettinger has been unflappably calm though. Like that Soucy goal is just one of being shell shocked. He does not let those in often at all.
He actually looked like that in the G1 also. The number of goals scored with simple and straight shot without screen or one timer or anything, it’s just too many.
Awesome game Kraken, that's the way to do it.
Got an awesome team there.
4 goals in 6 minutes... WOW! The Kraken just couldn't be stopped on this night. The first goal (where the Stars player got cracked in the face) was some good stick handling. Kraken fans rejoice!
Just goes to show, the Pacific division was a lot stronger than people thought. 3 Pacific teams still going. 1 Pacific team eliminated by another Pacific team.
Kraken got a touchdown when all they needed was a field goal.
LET'S GO KRAKEN!
Now that some good Kraken hockey baby! Send the Stars home for the summer!
As an Oilers fan I want the Kraken to win so it will be new team vs the Oilers in the conference finals if we beat Vegas

The NHL finding out what Seattle fans are about! Bring the noise! LETS GO KRAKEN!
Uncharacteristic off night for Oettinger. I don't know about anyone else, but it looked like he was really shaken off his groove when Heiskanen got hit in the face with the puck right in front of him. He was simply not the same after that.
I think the entire Stars team was thrown off when that happened. I don't agree with the refs letting the play go on after a player gets hit in the face with a puck. It should have been immediately whistled dead, and no goal given on the first one. Poor officiating not keeping players safe
I've never seen them blow it dead in that situation. The refs always wait till the team with the hurt player controls the puck.
@@keithouderkirk7493 exactly. And the goal came almost immediately after he was hit in the face. To blow to play dead and rob Seattle of a goal would have been poor officiating. The guy above you must be new to hockey or something because everyone knows you don’t blow the whistle there.
@@hunterman458 remember, it goes both ways, and this is a part of the game that's dictated by the NHL, unfortunately. Would it be the same if cages were mandatory?
I agree, that kind of set the tone. I also wonder if they were not all there mentally and emotionally after what happened in their backyard with the shooting on Saturday
Destructive blow from Seattle! Nice!
Let's go Kraken!!!!
Haha all of us Blues fans are pulling for a Dallas L.
So are we here in Nashville! Cry Suter cry. 😂
So crazy, Kraken definitely getting more love as an expansion team than Vegas Did.
Riding the Kraken bandwagon as both an Avalanche fan and a citizen of the PNW. LFG KRAKEN!!!
as an avs fan losing to seattle starts to look good. we had a low scoring games where seattle contained our offense with all the forecheck and hardwork. They are reaaally outplaying dallas right now.
As a Kings fan, so am I. Let's go Kraken!!
I am a Vancouver fan and am pulling for Seattle. Can't understand how we are so mediocre year in and year out lately and Seattle does this in 2 years...
Let’s go Kraken!! Seattle in 5!
YES!!! Woo hoo
As someone who's not invested in these 2 teams, Seattle can take it but this will go the distance. We'll see if Oettinger bounces back from this.
@@Shawn-st2lx he has near vasilevskiy-like stats in games following losses so he should bounce back but you never know
@@Shawn-st2lx I say last night we (Seattle) lived rent free in their heads, they (stars) will continue to allow their emotions to get the best of them resulting in another horrible loss.
@@Shawn-st2lx Seattle in game 7 at home for the final game of the Cup against the Panthers 🙂
The only time Heiskanen lets in a soft goal he gets hit in the face xD
The Kraken are not a bad team, and then they are morphing into a great playoff team. Wow.
They were always going to be a tough out in the playoffs, as long as they got goaltending. Goals from 18 of 20 skaters and points from all 20 (plus the injured McCann).
They'll likely regress next year. Doing stuff by committee is hard to sustain over multiple seasons especially when you don't have any superstars
Go Kraken!
Wow. The Otter got ate up by the Kraken. What a game
Я люблю этот плей-офф. Флорида ведет в серии 3:0, Нью-Джерси Каролине в игре 8 шайб загрузили, а теперь ещё и Кракены Далласу 7 отвесили! Как-то так...

Oettinger has to take this loss on his belt. Dude was like a ghost in goal.
The number of goals off people's faces in these playoffs is crazy lol
if i had a nickel for everytime someone scored after the puck hit someone's face, i would have two nickels. which isnt a lot but its weird that it happend twice
The Dallas stars is who I’m rooting for since my LA kings are out, but Dallas needs to comeback and win the next few
Well that escalated quickly
That was a bloodbath!!!
“… the all-important seventh goal.” 😂 What?
That's an appropriate score in a tie break.
OeTtinger iS an ElitE goalie ya top goalie right there
even vasilevsky had some bad games this postseason. not to mention he wasnt getting much help from his defense.
The floodgates opened up when that 1st goal was an unfortunate #DangIt for the Stars.

Would love to see the kraken play against the panthers in the finals if either of them make it
The panthers made it to the finals
That effort by Wedgewood to stop Gourde's goal at 6:25 is absolutely embarrassing from an NHL goalie lol
Tanev was telegraphing pass the whole way and he still looked like he was defending a penalty shot 😂.
Not a great position to be put into for your first save attempt coming off the bench but still, it's the playoffs and that looked like a save from a team tanking for Bedard.
Release the Kraken!
I offered the same advice to Dallas in this game as I did Carolina in their game: "Maybe if you stop scoring ... they'll stop scoring!" 🤣
Krackups gOt-ingers head, me thinks. He was a part-time pastry chef in goal tonight with those soft goals! This second-year team is unprecedented. Series still looks like 6 or 7.

Game 4 is the series for Dallas-can’t see them beating Seattle 3 straight if they lose it
Bring Otters Parents to all the games!! Seems like when they are in the stands Otter is on a diffrent level.
Slow that last goal down to .25x speed and watch the last replay of it. I believe Schwartz should be credited with the goal.
Schwartz seems to have chipped the puck up and over Wedgewoods shoulder

Hey @Sportsnet, slow motion replays of celebrations are for golf. Be better.
I know it's the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but man I'd have found it tough to score when the guy is on the ice injured after getting hit in the face with the puck. I'd have been tempted to just let the goalie freeze the puck.

4:54 wtf was that Dallas player doing???
How is the whistle not blown when a player gets a puck in the head. That should be automatic in my opinion.
You are right....He was bleeding and everything....That play seemed to unravel Oettinger and the Stars.
Ayres, Dallas needs you !
The rule unfortunately states that play is stopped immediately when one team's player is injured *unless the other team still has possession of the puck.* There's soom room for discretion when the injury is "serious," whatever that's supposed to mean, but the severity of the injury must be "obvious" to a referee or linesman. In other words, if (like me) the linesman saw the player drop to the ice and said "Jesus Christ, I hope he's okay," that's not obvious enough to warrant an immediate whistle. It must have been obvious enough that the official who witnessed the injury thought something along the lines of, "Yeah he is definitely not okay, this is serious enough that the player needs immediate medical attention."
@@ericfleming5522 He wasn't faking it thats for damn sure. Hard to believe Goalies at one time played without masks!!!....OUCH!!!.
