  • Taking a ride on one of the more special Class 319s, 319012 - now sadly scrapped along with 319429. This unit was famous amongst many enthusiasts, for one it sported the original Network SouthEast Edward Pond murals. But also, it had the most growliest and loudest traction motors on any LNWR 319. I cannot say it was the loudest 319 in existence, as many Northern 319/3s have proved different (319364 I believe holds this record). However, working with it many a day at London Euston, there were times it would depart Platform 11 and being stood on the adjacent Platform 12, you could literally feel the resonance as the motors kicked in. Alas, I finally got a ride on one - 2K63 21:06 London Euston to Milton Keynes Central, riding her to Harrow & Wealdstone on the Down Slow. Usually the speed limit is 75mph, but this was definitely achieving close to 90mph at some points, so perhaps there are faster sections.
I shall be trying to bash the last remaining LNWR 319s, they are, from what I hear, staying until September/October the latest, however this is subject to either be earlier or later depending on the situation with the Class 730s.
If anyone has any idea of how long Northern's 319s have left, please let me know as I am planning to head to Liverpool next week to ride a few.
    Thank you for watching! :)
