With every renovation project & DIY I am so thankful we are putting in the time to salvage this house. We are making it a home now. When tackling this 124 year old home entryway makeover we knew there would have to be some design elements to bring our vision to like such as adding storage ideas, thrifting for decor and salvage building materials to spend as little money as possible bringing it all together. The one wall is missing all of the original tin :( during this series I get creative on how to cover the space making it look intentional and meant to be and not just a cover up. My plan is to save the tin throughout the small and large section of the front hall keeping the original integrity of the home. We built a diy upholstered bench with thrifted fabric, made a salvaged wood shelf and more! This episode I restore the original tin ceilings with copper paint!
The white really dulled the beautiful details of the tin. The copper just brought it to life! Don't be afraid to use that same copper color in other areas of the house. It suits your home much more naturally than the gold.
That glowing coppery color is just fabulous! The ceiling looks timeless, it will never go out of style. Its really beautiful Elysia. You guys hit it out of the park this time.

Your parents are so sweet and encouraging. I wasn't a fan of the gold paint. But I thought the copper would work. I'm sure I have seen tin ceilings that are copper colored. Now your ceiling matches your hat and your couch and your horses. 👍👍👍 I love it.

When you first showed the gold paint, my reaction was "oh no!". When you showed the copper paint, my reaction was "oh yes"! It turned out better than I expected!! Beautiful!! I've seen you get excited about a lot of things, but you're just "glowing" with this project. This house has been a lot of work so far but also a BLESSING. Many of us have been with you since you pulled into the driveway and always can't wait for the next episode. THANK YOU from those of us who need an extra "push" to work on our own homes. Your family is such an inspiration.

I love the way this turned out!! It looks absolutely stunning! An idea: Instead of eventually putting a light on the ceiling, why not use wall sconces in that area? The light will reflect off of the metallic ceiling and make it nice and bright, and you won’t have to worry about putting any holes in the ceiling. You could put one in each corner and could still use the battery powered bulbs, so that you don’t have to deal with electrical stuff.

I am from Georgia and down here those old tin ceiling are in house of that size which were usually large farms, horse ranches, cattle farms and there were in silver, gold, copper, bronze, brass and pewter. Thumbs up for finally using a drop cloth and two thumbs up for the ceiling. Wow! Was wary at the initial mention of gold, given your penchant for it. The copper is very authentic, a 'crowning achievement.' The results could be seen as being both understated, while at the same time, making a bold statement. As someone with a bad neck and severe balance issues, I'd never be found on a ladder or spending all that time looking up. Am impressed by your ability to do that.
