- I ADOPTED A HAMSTER! After a while of wanting to get a second hamster I found this little one and decided to adopt him. His story isn’t a sad one :) He was very much loved by his previous family and they were sad to be rehoming him. Follow me in pets at home while i do some hamster supply shopping, set up his cage and meet the newest member of my family :)

Fellow British fan here, funny thing about my hamsters wimzee is that the bobble on the crocodiles head, she chewed through it and now there is a massive hole 😂

My hamster has destroyed the heads of the whimzee alligators he has lol. He won't chew on anything else.
Same! My hamster only chews her wimzees. If u live in the uk, i reccomend getting the coated birch slices from pets at home and also the coated sticks, my hamster likes them too! It helps picky chewers lol
@@littlehamham4251 I'll have to look into them lol. My local pets at home doesn't really have many hamster chews, which is a shame, but it looks like they have them in stock online.
Ok, you find them down the treat isle, they are like £2.49 and it is amazing, my hamster doesn’t stop chewing them, they are great because they are healthy and natural too!

unfortunately it’s not for syrians the minimum is 100x50cm and they need at least 10 inches to burrow
but she’s upgrading so it’s fine

Not sure if anyone mentioned it or not but you can attach that wheel from the top of the cage for more room at the bottom and mess bedding getting in the wheel. There are videos on CZcams that show you how to attach with zip ties! Really easy to cut zip ties when linmon cage is ready and need to move the wheel.
He’s adorable! I love your care it’s amazing! I have one suggestion: put a shelter/cover in the sand bath because hamsters prefer to dig with something over them as they feel safer

awwww there is nothing like adopting a Pet, I used to love adopting out Hamsters to new homes, giving them a second chance when I worked at PAH
This is good cage setup. And im glad you got proper supplies. Like the wheel, sand bath, bottle etc... the only thing i would be concerned about would be, does he have enough burrowing space?
Not as much as I would like him to have currently. The hamster heaven isn’t my favourite and I would prefer him to be in a setup above minimum so that’s why I’ll be upgrading him to the IKEA linnmon once I can get the supplies so I can give him a deeper layer of bedding ☺️

Hi!If you find that that hamster cage does not provide enough bedding you might want to try a bin cage,they can be filled with as much bedding as you want and are a cheap option

Hamster owners the best cage at a really really good price is the IKEA detoff which is 60 dollars

hello, just wanted to say awesome care! I just wanna inform you that the hanging treat stick you are using over the sand bath is bound together with honey so be careful with it since it is very high in sugar. Victoria Raechel for example has a pretty recent tutorial on how to do them yourself if you want a healthier option!
This cage is a great starter, but I do recommend you get a bigger cage sometime. Like maybe a diy one for the hamster to burrow at least 8 inches, and more running space.
As I said at the start of the video he will be being upgraded to the IKEA Linnmon as I prefer my hams to be in setups over the minimum 😊🐹

you seem like you have great hamster care! the only thing i’d recommend is putting much more bedding in the cage so your hamster can properly burrow like they want to. i’d say at least six inches
Thank you 😊 Yes i would ideally like him to have more than he has at the moment. He will be getting his upgrade soon so ill be able to add a lot more bedding in for him 😊

Yes so online they’re only sold in packs im but I store you can buy them individually there just over a £1 I think if I remember, not expensive ☺️

I am struggling to find a safe substrate for my Male Syrian, and also a bigger cage and more things to add. Is the pets at home large hamster home th right size or do I need to upgrade to a bigger one for a price under £20??
I like that video idea, I’ll keep that in mind 😊 the pets at home large hamster cage unfortunately falls under minimum requirements so it will definitely be worth upgrading your little one when you can 💕 one option could be the “Alaska” cage if you can find it in stock online or on Facebook marketplace if you’re looking for something on the cheaper side ☺️💕

@@furzehillm2921 the ikea slama bin is great it comes to a total of £17 pounds and it is 78x56 cm large bringing it to 677 square inches of floor space which is above the reccomened cage size in the UK which is 620 square inches of florspace

I really like everything you have for your hamster he is adorable I would definitely recommend getting a bigger cage which is what I hear you are doing I would also make sure to get a chamber hideout these are where hamsters usually sleep and are very good for them I love all of your wood toys and your wheel is a very nice size good job 👍🏻 if you need any help with anything I have a CZcams channel that talks a lot about hamsters and other animals I have done loads of research so if you need help please reach out to me and I can help you ❤️

Yeah same! She is the reason my hamster is happy and healthy today without her, I would still have my hammy in a 213 square inch wired cage :(
But now she lives in a 490 square inch cage ( which is sadly the biggest cage 1 I could find and 2 can fit in my bedroom) .

Sadly the cage is not big enough or has much stuff to do or much to do hamsters need a couple of different hide outs and toys I would recommend getting a 40 gallon aquarium also my phone muted so if you talked abt why you can’t do this I’m not hearing it lol
