Today, Heather and I assess the Democratic and Republican Parties at a particularly dispiriting point, when the Republicans have coronated Trump, who is taking a wide lead in polls over Biden. Anything can happen between now and Election Day, but at this point things look grim. Will Biden drop out in favor of Kamala Harris? Will Trump stumble? Will America come to its senses?
Please join us as we discuss these and other related issues. And, if you’re so inclined, please take our poll.
I am a male,but somehow,when my wife went through,a premature birth, we called the Doctor, the thought of calling the state senator or whoever at the DMV, never crossed our minds! The idea that the governor in the capital, had any idea as to who,how and why we would ask him about my wife’s contractions starting 3 months early, could assist my wife after he called the Supreme Court and asked for permissions to allow my wife to get medical care is ludicrous! Luckily this was before the gop/trump/ fascist/ Christian idiocy, we lost the child,saved the wife,and were able to have more wonderful children later on!! Pregnancies are dangerous if conditions aren’t perfect! Politicians at the hospitals emergency doors are just plain stupidity! Stand up for your family!

150 years ago, the average lifespan for women was 38 years. After surviving childhood, the most common causes of death were related to and complications of sex, pregnancy, giving birth and complications after giving birth. Comprehensive gynocological and obstetric healthcare has changed all that. Women are living healthier and longer. Infant mortality rates dropped drastically. But now mortality rates are going up for both mothers and infants because of states criminalizing Comprehensive gynocological and obstetric healthcare. Many obstetricians and Gynocologists have left states with anti-abortion laws fearing legal prosecution AND not being able to save their patients' lives. Most females in these states no longer have access to a Gynocologist or Obstetrician. No regular pelvic exams, pap smears or other gynocological healthcare screenings. Ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers are going undiagnosed as are other gynocological disorders. EVERY PREGNANCY IS HIGH RISK. Death rates from pregnancy and child birth and cancers and other gynocological disorders are going up and will continue to go up. What's even worse, is that states with abortion bans make females CRIMINALS if they seek gynocological and obstetric healthcare in another state 😡🤬

10 years ago I would never have guessed this could happen. 8 years ago I never expected Trump to win. Our democracy is no where near as stable as I had grown up believing. It is shocking how the tribe can be influenced. It is also shocking though how clueless the Democrats are.

You should have Professor Allan Lichtman on your show. He has predicted every presidential election correctly since 1984. He has been on many shows stating that Biden is the democrats best chance of beating Trump. He has a predicting system that accurately predicts the president. As a healthy, conscientious person just weeks away from being 77, I think this is the most significant election of my lifetime and possibly in US history. I am shocked and appalled at the evidence that mental acuity, perception of truth, and regard for education has declined so drastically. I deplore partisan politics, seeing this system as divisive, hostile, ineffective, and inefficient. However it's still obvious that the GOP has nothing of merit to offer the country while Democrats, in general, care about the environment, public welfare, solving problems, providing the programs and conveniences so many people just take for granted, letting women make decisions about their bodies, not shoving religion down the collective throat. I know quite a few people who believe RFK Jr. is the answer; I don't think they are taking this situation seriously, failing to acknowledge the utter peril of a lying, cheating, rapist conman becoming POTUS. I'll vote BLUE no matter who. It was a shame that RBG didn't step aside when there was still a chance to replace her with someone sensible. unfortunately it's possible, just like we're now seeing more clearly how 1930's Germany and WW2 became "possible". remember, many have been "scratching their heads" over this for the last 80 years.

I voted for him, too. Not enthusiastically, but because there was no other credible option on the ballot. Neither Dean Phillips nor Marianne Williamson has any sort of executive or even leadership experience to come close. I didn't have a real choice (which was ok, with Biden being an incumbent).
But the narrative had existed for a long time that Biden is senile and can't string a sentence together. Then he got up in front of everyone and failed to string coherent sentences together. He proved the narrative for those likely to believe it.
How can we credibly convince people that he is still in charge? We can't, so we must move on.

If the President steps down and Democrats can't come together during the convention and we don't have a clear candidate, the Dems will not have a candidate on the ballot in Michigan, a state we are counting on, possibly a few other states too (Ohio, but it usually goes red, so...). It's just not that simple to change candidates this late in the game.

In a short time the mail-in ballots must be sent. The declining donations to the Biden campaign have suffered the "trickle-down" effect and can't automatically transfer to a new campaign. Keeping Biden on the ticket is the most workable plan - for Trump as well.
