You took your Christmas tree the day after Christmas day? That's super early.
I'm Icelandic and at home we don't take Christmas decorations down until January 6th which is the official end to our Yule tradition that lasts 26 days.
Outdoor Christmas lights will stay up for probably another month or 2 to brighten up the darkness that's so intense this time of year. Today there is just under 5 hours of sunlight. I decided to escape the darkness and went to Gran Canaria in late November where we get around 10 hours of sunlight and HEAT! At home it's been the coldest december since 1918 and here it's been the hottest December since the early 1980's it's been around 77°F or 25-26°C every day where I am and if there wasn't wind blowing it would be unbearable, but it's still better than being in 14°F that's for sure.
