- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

@@MULLERTOM123 I liked that movie, lol. The instrument seen in that film is a guqin (古琴). Similar to the oud, and its descendent instrument the lute, which were both known as "the king of instruments" in places where they were traditionally played, the guqin has been called "the father of Chinese music." Sometimes it's even mistakenly called a "lute," but aside from both being strings instruments, the two have quite different histories, and are tuned and played differently.
