Same here, the first video I ever downloaded off the internet was the pilot episode of South Park and it was less than 180p quality, but that was the only way to watch in my part of the world. It was still one of the greatest moments in tech history for me, actually downloading a video off the internet in the days when it took overnight to download one single MP3.
I dunno it’s good but some episodes are real stinkers. I watched one at random on some streaming network the other day and it was just bad, not funny at all. But that’s any show, especially going on as long as animated shows do
I remember when we first found The Spirit of Christmas/Jesus vs Santa stuff online in the 90s right around the time they popped off. I was way too young to watch but I watched every single episode. My mom just gave up and let me watch it because I loved it so much. Now I'm 35 and been watching ever since.
I had to listen to this funny kids dialogues that I stumbled upon in some hidden folders on one of the old pcs from my tech class in 1995 România, I was second grade. I remember me and my friends were laughing out loud, and it we listened at a very low volume, it was mostly a secret. Only after a few years when I found South Park I made the connections.
Well only because Matt and Trey have... Okay this is gonna be awkward to explain, but in Ireland long ago, what people feared the most was a satirist, even Irish aristocracy, with me so far? And you can google Brehon Laws and the Irish Gaelic Social order for context. Yes, people could go after Sourh Park, politicians or celebs, but the mix of money South Park generates, and South Park being a LOT more ruthless and popular than The Simpsons is part of what keeps certain types in their place. I am not sure I explained it well, long day, late shift almost over and about to walk 4.5km or 2.7 or whatever miles home to be more active after eating a chocolate bar on my security shift, but I will put it this way regarding South Park: they have that "F around and find out" energy, so they can get away with MOST things, with one infamous exception, and people may guess what I'm alluding to here.
The episode where Stan discovers Token is named Tolkien literally made me die laughing, it was absolutely perfect. They broke the fourth wall so good in that episode too 😂
@@SOUPNPC Trey and Matt don't create the subtitles though. Even though he's still Token back then, the streaming services are afraid of looking racist. They're afraid of that doctor guy in that episode haha
@@SOUPNPC yeah it's kinda meta lol. I get the feeling a future episode is going to reveal it was Token all along and call us out for correcting people to "Tolkien" to flex our non-racist egos haha
I seriously think Matt and Trey are the greatest comedic geniuses ever. They really know how to show the ridiculousness of both sides of things. Just like Bull they really know how to piss everyone off 😂😂😂
Playing devil's advocate here, but George Carlin and Ricky Gervais are groundbreakers. This particular season of South Park is surely one of my favorites. The safe space stuff & Randy dealing with being shamed at Whole Foods (with Seagal and Vin Diesel) is a gem.
I still find it amazing that South Park manages to stay consistently funny and relevant after all these years. A lot of shows go down hill after being on for this long, if they even make it. Of course a lot of it is Matt Stone and Trey Parker being some of the best comedy writers alive today. Still though, it's pretty incredible that they're still banging out comedy gold on this show.
What??! R U 12??! South Park "blew up" in it's first year, '97. Trey just got paid $900M + costs for the the next 6 reasons... If that's not "blown up", idk what is...
I didn't appreciate South Park enough when I was younger. I've recently started re-watching it from the first episode, and it's downright amazing....I'll tell ya one thing,. I can't watch Family Guy the same way ever again...lol
You nailed it! Family Guy was a great ride, when I first started watching it, but, the show just doesn't have a lot of range, and the quality has declined steadily for at least a decade. On the other hand, Trey and Matt tackle stuff that NO ONE has the balls to, and, usually, they hit it over the fence. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to tee up the "Strong Woman" montage!
Lol they got the idea from staying at the Wynn hotel in LV where Steve Wynn was voicing a presentation that plays on the tv of all the amenities of the hotel.
To this day, if anyone asks me for recommendations on a good neighborhood or area to live in I know exactly where to send them---"I hear the Villas at Kenny's House are amazing." People rarely get it, don't care.
If you said that around my neck of the woods (Atlanta) people were assuming you were talking about Kenny Rogers, whose mansion kinda looked like scarface's palace, so people would think you weren't fooling. Also, how often are people asking you for advice on where to buy/rent a place?
I didn't realize that I accepted a job in an area that was in the middle of gentrification and the area was being called "sobra". I worked the area for 10 months and finally had to leave. It was so terrible 😂😂😂. "You guys going to 'bra'??"
As an asian I love and appreciate Mr Kim, he maybe a white American who has the mindset personality of an Asian but he represents part of our culture to southpark,
im that guy who goes to all the city places that are off the beaten path and im their last customer before they shut down... whats that? being served instantly and dining in fucking peace!? oh imagine the luxury
The first Mr. Hankey episode was fantastic. When Kyle's dad comes into the bathroom after Hankey sings his song and there is crap all over the room...so great. The later episodes with kids and drunk wife were a little dumb, for sure.
South Park was my favorite tv show for a longtime… but they lost me with the serialization of episodes, less seasons, bad writing, overly political/feminist satire & video game based content.
Nah he said "tired". You're bound to get a little bored with someone once you've been with 'em long enough and have heard everything they have to say. Look at any geezer who been married for like 20+ years. It's like that bit Bill does about the old man face.

South Park has been consistently funny since I was in high school, and now I'm old as fuck. Matt and Trey are both comedic geniuses

What really does it for me is the fact that they showed up to the Oscars in drag and on acid.
