  • Our buddy Charlie Card ties up a mean cicada pattern. We (of course) tweak it a bit for this tutorial. Great pattern either way!

Charlie is a good friend of mine. I guided on the Green for 11 years. He was a boy genius. Used to pull a canoe behind his bicycle to go fishing. His fly tying is Master class.
And you'll never meet a sweeter guy.

Though I am not fond of tying foam flies they certainly have their place in the water. This looks really good but wouldn't do here. Maine, if they have cicada's I haven't seen them yet. All the best and thanks for sharing. I really am enjoying the dubbings I bought from you. Can't wait until I can order some more. Sean

I bet your Maine fish would eat some foam. A trout is a trout mate;)

Yeah, they will and they have. Maybe not a cicada, but a grasshopper etc.. I just don't like the look of the flies. I wouldn't open my box often here if it were full of them. Traditional natural materials are more accepted here. All the best, thanks for answering. Sean

So why even comment at all? Just say I like your dubbing and be done with it.
