The ref squeezing Vince's leg telling him to brace for impact. Impossible to counter? Sure. But the fact that little squeeze on the leg, versus Paul squeezing Undertaker's shoulder (telling him to turn around) is what is magical. These performers can choreograph which moves to sell/predict in the blink of an eye.

Finding out stuff like this just makes the whole thing seem even more impressive. Like the buried alive thing. Someone actually had to work out how to do it, but still make it believable for fans. It's no different than finding out how things are done in movies. We know camera angles are used to make people appear taller or shorter (like with Frodo/Gandalf in LOTR), we know there are usually cardboard boxes or crash mats when a stuntman takes a big drop. But nothing nor nobody is gonna convince me the Undertaker is 100% human lol
What truly amazes me is that most of these things are never seen when they happen. They do such an amazing job of misdirection - much like a magician - that you never see the tricks unless you watch it over again and again. It shows how awesome the talent is. Regardless of the management and storylines, the talent truly is remarkable - both in the ring and behind the scenes - because they consistently pull off other-worldly performances that leave us asking "how."
During my years that I followed wrestling like a religion I had a lot of people saying things like its stupid to see because its all fake, I simply replied: "you're series and tv movies and cinema are also fake right? The beauty of wrestling is exactly that, being imersive in the storyline, and all the theatrical behind it all, is just amazing!"

This is exactly why The Undertaker was my favorite growing up. His “supernatural stunts” with lightning, casket, walking through fire, etc. It all seems too believable as a child growing up.
I always like hearing about the signs and signals these performers give each other. You HAVE to see them and in a split-second know what to do, how to, and when to perform a move. There's little room for error, which is why it makes for good entertainment when these moves are choreographed correctly in the blink of an eye. Fascinating.

Bro some of it were wrong, they dont choreograph it at the blink of an eye, the whole sequence of moves is choreographed and practiced before the match . The tap on the back during ddt and clap before power slam weren't signals, they are just some habits they develop overtime while performing their signature moves. Hence they dont clap or tap when they know they are not gonna do the move and its going to be a reversal.

Although I always knew Undertaker wasn't actually supernatural, the fact is was done so well and seemed so real made me really like the character though.
@@woodyhorton8537 I believe so, I think after certain points they tune-up the ring and whell him in on a cart so he can roll under the ring. Then he comes out on queue. Hornswaggle says there's a tv underneath so you can watch the match and wait for your moment.
He goes under the ring the same way he gets out other wrestlers have even spoken about having to lay under the ring until its they'r time to come out they find ways to keep them entertained like using a laptop and before laptops phones ect they would have a headset on and talk to the guy's in gorilla or some even read a book or magazine
Even knowing how Shane fell from the cage, it's still utterly insane to even do such a stunt Not just worrying about missing, there's a legit chance the thing could have just failed somehow. i saw a wwe live event where kane came to the ring, and when he threw his hands down, no pyro.. just the house lights came on. There was no pyro charges on the ring posts so no malfunctions. The crowd boo'd. lol
Seth once said in an interview that he and Roman wet their hair because they have crazy curls flying all over otherwise. He was in the ring at Survivor Series 2016 for so long that his hair started drying, and you could see those curls getting more and more crazy as the match went on.
This amazes me how much little details they use to make it look so much more realistic!! The little details make such a huge difference. It’s absolutely amazing this actually made me appreciate wrestling even more even if it is fake (which we all already knew) but even though it’s fake it still takes a TON of talent and top notch acting, this is just incredible!!
I don't get the people that comment on every wrestling video that it's fake. Like yeah we know but we don't care. We still find it entertaining. It's exactly like movies or video games.
Agreed I think it loses the impact cos you can't fully focus on what's going on, go back to static cams man, it doesn't make the product more exciting or intense... first thing I always think from a logical perspective, why in reality would the cameraman lose all control of his camera ability like he's in the Blair witch... all the classic storylines, big high spots, match interferences we remember were filmed static... imagine the camera was going mad when kane debuted, or Austin return at backlash, takers biker gimmick debut return, invasion angles when every other match had interference... those moments would of been ruined

I was honestly impressed by the Randy Orton handclap thing. I was watching regularly back then when he first started doing it, and I just didn’t like the addition of it to the spot. But it’s been like ten years since he added it, so it’s there for sure now
The Vince McMahon limo exploding thing happened in my home town. Right up the road from me. When the limo exploded in real time. I was able to walk out onto my back porch and see the smoke billowing from the fire. It was so cool.
I remember reading in Shawn Michaels biography Heartbreak and Triumph that in the very first match he ever had his opponent (who I think was Jake Roberts) squeezed his wrist which meant he was supposed to reverse the Irish whip into the corner. Shawn didn't know that though so he sold the squeeze like it really hurt!
Even though I haven't been a fan of the product for over a decade, you have to respect these guys as athletes and performers. And the wrestlers in WWE are the peak of the profession, those guys have it down to a science.
I remember a specific time where Ambrose/Moxley was slamming Sheamus' head into the post. It busted Sheamus open BAD. He was immediately pulled off camera and Kevin Owens came out to beat up Ambrose for the DQ. I can only imagine how loud Vince was screaming backstage lmao
One thing that always bothers me, and pretty much all wrestling companies do it is the "steel" steps. They're aluminum. If they really were steel and you threw someone into them, they'd never move. You would need at least three people to move them.
1. It's way too dangerous to use steel. 2. It sounds and feels dangerous than calling them "Aluminum Steps" At the end of the day it's make believe entertainment so of course they'll do everything to keep wrestlers safe while maintaining the realism.
Wouldn't be entertaining if the announcers said "Oh my god he was slammed into the aluminum steps!" There's a slice of suspension of disbelief you have to maintain, my guy.

One thing I learned at a Friday night smack down being in the front is, the camera men are part of the communication between the back stage and the wrestlers. Saw a camera man telling the wrestlers around ring side how much time is left in the match,buy whistling and holding up the number of minutes left in the match with his fingers against his chest especially to the wrestlers that have been laying on the floor after being thrown into the wall.

I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t mention some of the props, like the tables. Obviously, the ones that a wrestler is sent through is a prop that is pre-cut or made of a lighter material to break with less force… at least, that’s how it’s supposed to happen. I seem to recall that a WWE wrestler was put out of action for a few weeks when his opponent grabbed a real table instead of a prop and slammed the poor guy through it. I don’t know if the local arena crew left it there or WWE staff mixed it in with other fake tables by mistake, but can you imagine the amount of force it took to make him go through a real table?
The tables are usually real. You can break a real table when a 200+ pounds guy jumps on it from a height. They only use prepared tables for special spots or very light people.
The orton clapping bit is probably the most obvious bit, but I believe other sites have said he does it for timing purposes, not telling the opponent to sell. I think it's both. Next one you should show how the BBM Ray Traylor survived the "hanging"
since the more requires cooperation to be done properly its more like timing, or else the opponent would jump on an unprepared orton or perform the move when someone else is on the way
They also have a flash on the lighting rig above the ring that flashes every few seconds. Idk why. There is also crew members floating in the air by the stage I think it’s for door lights but they are strapped up. One thing that I noticed never gets brought up is that the cameraman will whistle to the stars. I think it’s when they go to leave to early or something it’s a quick whistle and then the star will turn back around and pose befor the show ends. That whistle is definitely a stage command and I just never once seen anyone comment on it.
One of my friends who is a huge wrestling fan mentioned that the reason the WWE took so long to go to an HD broadcast was due to a lot of secrets being revealed by the higher detail like hidden razor blades. Interesting about the camera angles, I don't recall those filming techniques during the attitude era, they may have come with the transition to HD.

I noticed the whole tag team thing when I was watching raw a few weeks ago when it was nakamura and riddle against the usos I think. I had my headphones on and I could literally hear riddle saying "NOT YET, NOT YET" until one of the usos tagged the other in and you just hear riddle go "NOW!" Which led to the usual tag in stuff in clutch moments
My friend was an indy champion in St.Louis, WWE hired him to take a bump from Sean Michaels. He was the cameraman in the Bad Blood match. If you go back and watch it, you'll go dam that cameraman big AF!! 🤣 Michaels super kicks him! We were there and laughed out asses off! My friend was a head taller than Sean and 275lbs of muscle! You could see it through the jumpsuit. He was paid 600 bucks. Good times.
The whole taker exposed being under the ring also happened to The Fiend. He went out slightly earlier than the black out but it was like a split second before going back under the ring. Unfortunately for The Fiend, a lot of people watching from that side saw him.
The thing is, it's obvious as soon as you turn off your suspension of disbelief. Even if you don't guess exactly under the ring, it's obvious that for that stunt they have to be hiding near the ring to get there that fast. Doesn't stop it from being cool af when they pull it off though.
the mic being hidden under the ring, that’s super cool . also towards the end when the commercial comes on, the wrestlers are just taking their breaks & talking to each other, then when it cuts back to the show, they continue wrestling as if they never stopped ! i never knew that!!! lol well i don’t think anybody did ( the fans watching it on tv )
The randy Orton clap thing is so obvious once you know it exists. After 20 years of watching wwe I never knew it existed. Makes it so much more amazing. Props to these guys
I like learning about all the little tricks they do in shows while matches are happening. I loved the wwe as a kid and didn’t notice any of this. But seeing how superstars will communicate non verbally to keep things running smooth with taps to to body or ortons hand claps shows how quick they communicate to work things out. Doesn’t change how I felt about seeing matches on tv compared to how they run live events I would’ve assumed there were tricks so these guys didn’t end up getting buried alive for real or something wild but it makes you go “woahhhh that’s how they do it”😂😂

That's a carry over from the old days. The rule was you had to be holding the rope when you made the tag because that was as far as you were allowed to be from the corner. That was used a lot for dramatic effect in order to disallow a tag. The arena rings were much bigger than a lot of the rings used today. One thing you will notice these days is the person trying to tag in will have the hand holding the rope or turn buckle with their arm bent, so they can adjust their reach to make it look close.
It's not a secret actually, it's a rule. The string is basically distance control. You have to be in range of the string, or holding the string while leaning over the rope for it to be a legal tag.

Pro wrestlers are the most incredible athletes in the world. Not a huge fan but every now and again I watch some vids and my mind is reblown. Its insane what they go through for the fans. It's art. Dangerous exhausting art.
The reason for the back slap on a DDT is to let the person on the receiving end know exactly when it's coming. This allows the person excecuting the move to showboat without the receiver falling to their knees too soon.
a lot of these i already knew or were common sense "well duh!" things, but this was still a damn good watch. obviously people don't get buried alive in those matches, but i never knew exactly how they pulled that off until this video. never noticed orton's clap, either. i'm a sucker for these SECRETS OF WRASSLIN' REVEALED!!!!! videos. stunt granny is something i still reference to this day, but i dunno how many people actually get that reference 20+ years later.
And also sometimes, when the wrestlers are in matches, they have certain moves or "spots" in the match at a certain time because it could be used to signify the next happening after that certain move is done or they may have "talked" about it in the ring during the match, so it was verbally communicated or sometimes the wrestlers even practice their matches during the day before the match happens in front of a crowd. There are many reasons this could happen. But I can assure you, when Orton DOES clap his hands before the power slam, it's because it's a move done at that moment, like the narrator mentioned in the video or it could already be talked about and Randy claps his hands out of habit or to REMIND his opponent to take the slam is he thinks his opponent may forget, which ISNT someone you really wanna work with often, if they're forgetting their next moves, steps, words, etc.
I remember vividly that there's a timer in the crowd some where to tell what time it is. I think it helps the wrestlers know how much time they have left.
Love this channel and their videos but more attention definitely needs yo be paid during the editing process, even just watching the videos before uploading would help to prevent the random cuts and missed segments
I recognize a few clips here from that old show "Pro Wrestling's Biggest Secrets Revealed" lol. The PPVs usually reveal secrets or mistakes because it goes out live, and they don't have a chance to edit them, until it gets released to home video. You can also hear what the wrestlers say to each other easier. I was at Wrestlemania 26, and Rey Mysterio's springboard failed. So to everyone in the audience, we all saw that he failed to bounce up, and there was a bit of a delay as he crawled out of the hole he was supposed to spring up from. But thr live version quickly cut to the audience and his opponent, with Michael Cole throwing in something about how Rey was playing mind games with him. But then later for the home video release, that whole part was cut out.
Thats why i like the live ppv i feel like the mistakes give it alot more character. It feels like a reality tv show where things are planned and improvised on the spot. Its never supposed to be perfect like a movie would be.

Agreed I think it loses the impact cos you can't fully focus on what's going on, go back to static cams man, it doesn't make the product more exciting or intense... first thing I always think from a logical perspective, why in reality would the cameraman lose all control of his camera ability like he's in the Blair witch... all the classic storylines, big high spots, match interferences we remember were filmed static... imagine the camera was going mad when kane debuted, or Austin return at backlash, takers biker gimmick debut return, invasion angles when every other match had interference... those moments would of been ruined
Static cams make it more realistic, like a real sporting event. Bring back static cam. Does anyone experience nausea?

Even though I haven't been a fan of the product for over a decade, you have to respect these guys as athletes and performers. And the wrestlers in WWE are the peak of the profession, those guys have it down to a science.
I remember a specific time where Ambrose/Moxley was slamming Sheamus' head into the post. It busted Sheamus open BAD. He was immediately pulled off camera and Kevin Owens came out to beat up Ambrose for the DQ. I can only imagine how loud Vince was screaming backstage lmao
One thing that always bothers me, and pretty much all wrestling companies do it is the "steel" steps. They're aluminum. If they really were steel and you threw someone into them, they'd never move. You would need at least three people to move them.
That's so irritating to hear them keep saying that..🙄🙄

One thing I learned at a Friday night smack down being in the front is, the camera men are part of the communication between the back stage and the wrestlers. Saw a camera man telling the wrestlers around ring side how much time is left in the match,buy whistling and holding up the number of minutes left in the match with his fingers against his chest especially to the wrestlers that have been laying on the floor after being thrown into the wall.
It's no wonder so many wrestlers go on to have successful acting careers. Holy hell what talent to do all this. Couldn't be more humbled, thank you!

I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t mention some of the props, like the tables. Obviously, the ones that a wrestler is sent through is a prop that is pre-cut or made of a lighter material to break with less force… at least, that’s how it’s supposed to happen. I seem to recall that a WWE wrestler was put out of action for a few weeks when his opponent grabbed a real table instead of a prop and slammed the poor guy through it. I don’t know if the local arena crew left it there or WWE staff mixed it in with other fake tables by mistake, but can you imagine the amount of force it took to make him go through a real table?
The tables are usually real. You can break a real table when a 200+ pounds guy jumps on it from a height. They only use prepared tables for special spots or very light people.

The orton clapping bit is probably the most obvious bit, but I believe other sites have said he does it for timing purposes, not telling the opponent to sell. I think it's both.

since the more requires cooperation to be done properly its more like timing, or else the opponent would jump on an unprepared orton or perform the move when someone else is on the way

They also have a flash on the lighting rig above the ring that flashes every few seconds. Idk why. There is also crew members floating in the air by the stage I think it’s for door lights but they are strapped up. One thing that I noticed never gets brought up is that the cameraman will whistle to the stars. I think it’s when they go to leave to early or something it’s a quick whistle and then the star will turn back around and pose befor the show ends. That whistle is definitely a stage command and I just never once seen anyone comment on it.
One of my friends who is a huge wrestling fan mentioned that the reason the WWE took so long to go to an HD broadcast was due to a lot of secrets being revealed by the higher detail like hidden razor blades. Interesting about the camera angles, I don't recall those filming techniques during the attitude era, they may have come with the transition to HD.

I noticed the whole tag team thing when I was watching raw a few weeks ago when it was nakamura and riddle against the usos I think. I had my headphones on and I could literally hear riddle saying "NOT YET, NOT YET" until one of the usos tagged the other in and you just hear riddle go "NOW!" Which led to the usual tag in stuff in clutch moments

My friend was an indy champion in St.Louis, WWE hired him to take a bump from Sean Michaels. He was the cameraman in the Bad Blood match. If you go back and watch it, you'll go dam that cameraman big AF!! 🤣 Michaels super kicks him! We were there and laughed out asses off! My friend was a head taller than Sean and 275lbs of muscle! You could see it through the jumpsuit. He was paid 600 bucks. Good times.

The whole taker exposed being under the ring also happened to The Fiend. He went out slightly earlier than the black out but it was like a split second before going back under the ring. Unfortunately for The Fiend, a lot of people watching from that side saw him.
The thing is, it's obvious as soon as you turn off your suspension of disbelief.
Even if you don't guess exactly under the ring, it's obvious that for that stunt they have to be hiding near the ring to get there that fast.

I like learning about all the little tricks they do in shows while matches are happening. I loved the wwe as a kid and didn’t notice any of this. But seeing how superstars will communicate non verbally to keep things running smooth with taps to to body or ortons hand claps shows how quick they communicate to work things out. Doesn’t change how I felt about seeing matches on tv compared to how they run live events I would’ve assumed there were tricks so these guys didn’t end up getting buried alive for real or something wild but it makes you go “woahhhh that’s how they do it”😂😂

That's a carry over from the old days. The rule was you had to be holding the rope when you made the tag because that was as far as you were allowed to be from the corner. That was used a lot for dramatic effect in order to disallow a tag. The arena rings were much bigger than a lot of the rings used today.
One thing you will notice these days is the person trying to tag in will have the hand holding the rope or turn buckle with their arm bent, so they can adjust their reach to make it look close.
It's not a secret actually, it's a rule. The string is basically distance control.
You have to be in range of the string, or holding the string while leaning over the rope for it to be a legal tag.

The reason for the back slap on a DDT is to let the person on the receiving end know exactly when it's coming. This allows the person excecuting the move to showboat without the receiver falling to their knees too soon.

And also sometimes, when the wrestlers are in matches, they have certain moves or "spots" in the match at a certain time because it could be used to signify the next happening after that certain move is done or they may have "talked" about it in the ring during the match, so it was verbally communicated or sometimes the wrestlers even practice their matches during the day before the match happens in front of a crowd. There are many reasons this could happen. But I can assure you, when Orton DOES clap his hands before the power slam, it's because it's a move done at that moment, like the narrator mentioned in the video or it could already be talked about and Randy claps his hands out of habit or to REMIND his opponent to take the slam is he thinks his opponent may forget, which ISNT someone you really wanna work with often, if they're forgetting their next moves, steps, words, etc.
It clearly showed him trying to recover so he wouldnt have time to clap and then do the powerslam🤦🏾♂️

I recognize a few clips here from that old show "Pro Wrestling's Biggest Secrets Revealed" lol.
The PPVs usually reveal secrets or mistakes because it goes out live, and they don't have a chance to edit them, until it gets released to home video. You can also hear what the wrestlers say to each other easier.
I was at Wrestlemania 26, and Rey Mysterio's springboard failed. So to everyone in the audience, we all saw that he failed to bounce up, and there was a bit of a delay as he crawled out of the hole he was supposed to spring up from. But thr live version quickly cut to the audience and his opponent, with Michael Cole throwing in something about how Rey was playing mind games with him. But then later for the home video release, that whole part was cut out.
Thats why i like the live ppv i feel like the mistakes give it alot more character. It feels like a reality tv show where things are planned and improvised on the spot. Its never supposed to be perfect like a movie would be.

alot of people take the piss out of wrestling but these guys are the most impressive stunt men/athletes in the world.. movie stunt men get multiple takes to 'Do their thing'... these guys do it LIVE in front of thousands of fans, day after day, month after month, yr after yr... in ONE TAKE! that takes SKILL no matter which way you cut it!! respect to them!! the rest is movie magic! there was once an interview with I think either Vince or Shane where they said they are in the business of making movies.. each show is a movie, with characters, scripts, plot, stunts.. and this is all shown as above.. great video! keep watching these guys.. they literally risk their necks just to entertain us!!!
