EFolklore is a collection of traditional local folklore from around Indonesia. The videos were created in a collaboration between EF English First for Kids and Teens and Kastari Animation. We hope EFolklore will be a fun and educational experience for Indonesian children and children throughout the world.
The origin of Mount Merapi is a story from Yogykarta Central Java. It tells of two kris makers and two gods who try to save Java island. Do you want to know how legend says that one of the most active volcanoes in the world was formed?

wow, the story is very good and interesting. the characters here are very cool and wise, the origin of Mount Merapi which is famous for being strong and dashing. This story is very good for young children to watch to add insight. The lesson from this folklore that we can take is, don't use violence or evil ways to get what we want.
Moral: You can't force other people
We have to listen to other people's advice, because if we don't want to listen then we will get the result of not listening to other people's advice

complication: both the Mpu didn't pay Vitara Narada and Penyarikan's order whom tasked by Vitara Guru, to leave the forest which had been selected as replacement for Mount Jamur Dwipa location which made Java island tilted to south because of it.
Both Mpu, who were Mpu Rama and Mpu Permadi insisted the place they made Keris is the most sacred place none to second. So they died buried by Mt. JamurDwipa which now are known as Mt.Merapi
what a lame folktale, i know the better version.
Mt.Merapi was just small portion of Mt.Jamurdwipa which scattered around Java Island as volcanoes
