Yep. Nothing pretty about killing the engine at the red flag, not having enough battery to restart a "farm stock" tractor and needing a "tow" to get off the track.
Nothing pretty about 42s on a "farm stock" tractor that never even had 38s from the factory either.

Yeah that's real impressive "competing" with 414 cubic inch and smaller engines in the other "120 hp" tractors.
Not to mention a 585 Minneapolis-Moline engine from a standard-tread Minnie in an Oliver row-crop that was never available "stock" with that "outsourced" engine AND a "tricycle front" really pushes the "spirit" of a farm stock speed limit class if not the "letter" of the description.
As does any "farm stock" tractor "ballasted" with Brand X wheel and/or suitcase weights "mounted" on "aftermarket" suitcase weight brackets and/or "upgraded" wheel weight hardware.
Not to mention no manufacturer of "modern" farm tractors with variable-speed diesel engines and any type of "powershift" transmission system has ever "recommended" maximum drawbar loads at minimum "field speeds" particularly with worn-out tires that have "off the charts" slippage to the point that a 5 mph "gear" on the speed-hour meter isn't even good for 80% of that in "true ground speed".
But of course all these "Brand X" pullers had to find a way to "compete" with the REAL green machines in a "farm stock" 120-hp small-frame row-crop class and even then they have to use "creative interpretation" of the rules to "compete" with the REAL 'farm stock" tractors in the class pulling "light" because they're not "dedicated" - or stupid - enough to hang multiple tons of extra "ballast" on a "stock" 120-hp tractor, put it in a "creeper gear" and then try to make it "hook" on a bone-dry "clay" track without enough "bite" to make any fully "ballasted" tractor "pull down" from high idle at all much less to "working speed".
They pull for fun and "pit" for fun as well which does not include "throwing" 3 tons of additional "ballast" by the time they get "weighted up" for 16K after starting at a 10K class that was also probably 4 mph and they also couldn't begin to "hook up" in because that's a "creeper gear" class too.
Speed limit classes "punish" the "hot rods" and embarass the "stockers" every time.

    • @42lookc
      @42lookc Před rokem

@@deeremeyer1749 That is a corporate built Oliver 2155. It came from the factory with the 585. It is a Minneapolis Moline G1350 with Oliver paint and decals from the factory. There is no "outsourced engine" in it. That is a factory built tractor that happens to have a lot more cubic inches than many competitors. The only thing changed is putting a narrow front under it, although both were classified as row crop tractors. It would have been possible (even if not likely) to order one from the factory with a narrow front.

Tractors are loping and have huge P pump injection pumps on them. Regular farm stock tractor will pull about half track against them . It's like most other things, if you spend the most you'll win. To me this is far from boring. This is pulling. All that other is just a weight controlled drag race.

Friction and weight. The further down the track you go, the box is moving forward thus applying weight over the pan of the sled. This creates friction along with bars on the bottom of the pan also creating friction. If you notice at times, there is a trip the box will trigger which puts the pan to the ground (press downs) and will literally raise the tandems (axles/wheels on rear of sled) off the ground.

Stock/Antique classes have limits be it mph or rpm. Been that way for ever. Not BS. Drivers game.

"Stock" except tons of extra weight on "aftermarket" brackets and a ridiculous speed limit you'll exceed running "stock" tires with more than 50% tread and "stock" inflation pressure. And that is at least 10-15% slower than the minimum recommended field speed for a "hard pull" if you want to avoid excessive powertrain and tire wear and tear.
And seriously? A speed limit class with no measured and marked "free pass" zone AND an audible and/or visible "speeding" warning to notify "rookies" - and everybody else capable of "speeding" out of the gate depending on track conditions - they're over the limit out of the gate?
That's as ridiculous as the 4 mph speed limit for "modern" tractors itself AND weighting 10,000-lb. 120-hp tractors to the full 16,000 lbs because its a 16K class while running worn-out tires that can't even put 120 hp at 16K to the ground because you have to be way below "stock" field speed to avoid breaking the speed limit at high idle - WOT maximum no-load speed - in a gear you'd never use for "field work" at rated engine speed.
Looks to me like the anti-Deere crowd invented a "farm stock" class they can "compete" in against "comparable" Deere tractors that are "between gears" at 4 mph and "WOT" specifically because its Deere that "recommends" never doing heavy drawbar "field work" that slow at rated speed.
    What a joke.

Good way to ruin a tractor pull by limiting the mph. hook it and let it eat !!!
