tears in my eyes - tears of joy. She is Stardust. She is Golden.
Yes yes yes!!!
She hasn't sounded this good in twenty five years. Eight years smoke-free has restored her voice! xoxo
Yes , what a difference ...
Amazing! She has come back in full voice! Thank you for posting! And a big credit to Brandi Carlile for getting her back on the stage!! ♥️
Yup, Brandi brought her back to us! ♥🌻
OK, that is great. Didn't know that either about Brandi
Brandi Carlile is marginally talented and a whole lot of annoying when onstage
with Joni Mitchell.....
@@theprofromdoverduffey4653 I kind of thought Ms. Carlile was annoying as well. But Joni Mitchell seems to trust her a Lot. So, I dunno. Of course Brandi wasn't responsible for Joni's recovery, as someone suggested. (Besides the therapists, Joni herself deserves credit!) But Brandi seems to have been integral in getting Joni back to the stage.
@@theprofromdoverduffey4653, never misses a chance to showboat!!! It really annoys me.
Any limitations inevitably imposed upon her voice by the passing of time are completely knocked into touch by her peerless phrasing. She's a legend & we'll love her for ever!
I've listened to Joni Mitchell all of my life and I detected no vocal limitations in fact
her voice was flawless. The only limitations may be personal and involve one's own
hearing or loss there of .....Just saying. Because it certainly has nothing to do with
Joni Mitchell's voice. Have a nice day....and keep on rocking in the free world.
She had a catastrophic Brain aneurysm. Brandi Carlile brought Miss Joni back to life. God bless her.
@@theresamitchell9577 Brandi Carlile had nothing to do with her recovery and
her name isn't Miss Joni....it's Joni Mitchell. Hopefully someones praying for
you because it sounds like you need that. Have a nice day.
Get real. It was nice. I love Joni Mitchell. This required a blues feeling that is not her forte. Her vocal style differs from Vaughan, Fitzgerald, Franklin, McRae, Washington... Black vocalists have a particular kind of soul. Now, go back to sleep.
@@TheEleatic Anger issues? Have you considered professional help? Just saying.
Have a nice day. May I add you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
She sounds incredible!
This was what my Mama rocked me to sleep to when she brought me home from the hospital, this was our favorite lullaby. I lost her two years ago to cancer and when i hear this song, i swear, she's here with me💜🛐
The effects of not having smoked after the aneurysm are incredible. She sounds terrific.
She sounds 30 years younger after quitting cigarettes. Great vocals for an 80 year old woman who went through so much, her phrasing is just as impeccable as ever.
SHE QUIT SMOKING????????
@@tamarakonczal6350 I think she moved to e cigarettes actually
wow! she quit smoking!!!? I didn't know that
We have our Joni back forever♥️
Thank you Joni! We love you!!! And thank you Samuel, for posting!
My heart is full ! As a life-long Joni fan, i couldnt be more thrilled to see her singing. After her wonderful career she deserves to rest but its so a part of who she is that she cant just not sing. Much love, Joni ❤
Hi how're you doing?
Proof, that we get better with age and experience 💖💖
My word! That sounds remarkable!! Great to hear Joni singing so well again!
We have a music legend here, people. What a long absence from performing! She has triumphed over stuff ... life's obstacles here and there, and I hope she is doing fine.
Pity this phone couldn't zoom in but at least part of the song was captured.
I was as zoomed in as possible. The whole song will be broadcast on PBS at the end of the month in professional quality. Check your local istings.
@@samuelstone3670 Nice! Thanks. I'll be watching. Man, this must have been special to be there in person. I love the "Oh, my god" in the video. :)
@@samuelstone3670 Yay; thank you. Uh-oh, did I miss it?
@@eduardo_corrochio Yeah, me too! (The omg in the video: loved.)
I cannot believe it, it's just AMAZING. Her voice, her singing, literally seem reborn
She may not have that ridiculous range, but the unmistakeable voice and musicality is still there.
I’m amazed at the amount of people starting a sentence this way. She’s 80. Has been very ill and yet her voice is still one of the finest ever heard. The voice changes so much through life, hers is soul pure soul
@@Belfastboi I wholeheartedly agree.
Gee, another role model, and it's Joni! Band is spot on too!
Joni still has it, truly a national treasure. Have loved Joni and her work for 45+ years. Her music her art, unparalleled, love you Joni.❤
First I was stunned that Joni can sing like this. Then it’s like ,my god, this band!!!!
The 1998 tour had one of her best bands ever. It was a privilege to see them backing up every artist at the tribute. And seeing them with Joni (+Mills, Phillinganes, Celisse, Mumford, Lucius, and Carlile) was a dream!
Thanks soooo much for posting this! Her voice is like Maggie Smith’s or Judi Dench’s acting-more expressed in a breath, a darted glance, a perused lip-than other singers could attempt in an entire career. Kudos! Brava!
Joni sounds as gorgeous as ever.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks to Joni for all of her wise words. I learned so much from her!
This woman is simply the BEST.
Never thought, and certainly it was difficult, that I'd ever see this amazing thing again. Thanks. Awesome.
Rock on Joni!!! Rock on girl.!! A legend in her time.✌✌
Joni, lovely. You sounds smooth as silk, a fine bourbon.. love you so.
The greatest is back. The magic has returned to her. I've loved this woman since I was 7, I'm 61 now.
Oh my goodness. Her true voice. Her phrasing. That distinctive pronunciation. OMFG.
Tears of joy and beauty.♥♥♥
The unmistakable vibrato.
Finally Joni covers Sublime!
Thanks!🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬
Joni Mitchell Priceless!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
She started singing, just one word and I started crying...💖💖💖💖
Beautiful, and great piano playing by Greg Phillinganes! Perfect accompaniment for this song and Joni.
Singing is about so much more than just a pretty voice . Joni still has style .
It’s what one does with the voice that counts. Sinatra became greatest when his voice deteriorated just a bit.. the artistry took over .
Holy crap she hasn't lost a thing. Way to be Joni. And welcome back.
It`s incredible to see Joni Mitchell back again on stage in this way. So beautiful, I can not believe it. Her voice is so fantastic. I want to thank Joni Mitchell. And thanks to Samuel for posting this wonderful minutes. ❤
i cannot believe i get to see this magnificent genius again this june....almost exactly 55 years to the date that i first saw her at the bitter end nyc. many thanks sam stone for sharing this!
See you there!
I need her to do an entire album of Gershwin or standards or anything. ❤️❤️❤️
Check out the album Both Sides Now from 2000. All old love songs + 2 re-recordings of her own.
Also, check out Herbie Hancock's 'Gershwin's World' from 1998. Joni sings on two songs -- The Man I Love and Summertime.
I think this might be from the album she did with Her I Hancock, I think.
@@mellisapollom2241 yep! It's on the one from 1998 called Gershwin's World. Joni sings Summertime and The Man I Love. Herbie did a Joni tribute album called River: The Joni Letters in 2007 that Joni is also featured on, performing her own song Tea Leaf Prophecy. Two great albums.
After what's she's been through she's there God bless her singin' up a storm with a chalk mark to honour the occasion.......just so good.
I see what you did there ;) well done!
@@samuelstone3670 She's such a treasure, some of the best music ever written.
wow--she sounds terrific. Im so happy to know she's doing so well
Her musicality is off the charts! Such an amazing interpretation. That woman is a treasure!
Oh. My. God. love her she's still so amazing!!!
Joni, you've inspired many of us to never give up. Keep singing like a songbird until your last breath. ♥️
Thank you!
💖🥰💖SHE’S BACK!
❤ she sounds awesome. Thank you for sharing.😊
Just wow, such a clear voice after all she went through!
Amazing, I would never have imagined she was still capable of this. Pure Joni!
I'm gonna be a wreck when I see her live in June. It's non stop chills and tears just watching this video
See you there!
This woman is a miracle - she has more intelligence and talent after a stroke than the rest of us ever will. I'm so grateful to have lived at the same time as Joni.
What a great voice! What a great singer! The pride of Canada and a gift to the world!❤👍🏾🌹
She sounds AMAZING!!!
She is golden! A massive stroke, losses not expected to recover yet Listening to her voice hit the high tones, hold notes and flow up and down deep is spine chilling!
Wow. You've still got a full voice .Sing on Mamma!
'Love her, and have loved her for years. 'Saw her live once, have all of her material. 'Can't get enough... Her talent might possibly only be eclipsed by her performance skills, her writing brilliance, and her 'likleability." Seeing her live was amazing.~~~
Wonderful!
Still has it!
She fought back!
Joni and Greg 🙌
I can't believe I had missed this.
This is incredible, I have tears of joy in my eyes. She hasn't sounded this good in so long, even before the aneurysm.
Thank you so much for sharing, Sam ❤
Awesome! Heard a snippet on NPR. Thanks for posting the whole performance.
She sounds like the life she's lived...❤
It's been written how great this performance was, the reaction alone says it all. To me, her voice has changed a bit but better for this song. Gave me chills.
This Is magic! Joni Is back with us and for us. Be The Artist you are again as painter and musician. The world Is a better place now
I love you Joni. You've been a part of my life for more than half of my years on the planet now and I can't imagine a time without your music in it. I'm so thrilled to see you begin this new chapter in your career.
Long overdue! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🥰 Thank you for carrying me into a day and age where life was easy
The Best!
Eighty years old and still a musical genius!
This has just about made my freakin’ day. Yes to all those things about her voice and phrasing and the band and all that but I’m just so made up to see her back on stage and being there. I’d love to hope there’s more to come
I never expected to hear her perform again, let alone sound this good.
Love to you, Joni! You gave so much beauty to my life. Thank you so much.

Divine. Inspirational.
Just the thought of a new album from Joni Mitchell is extremely exciting! It's sure to be an instant classic, so please let it be so. Come on, Joni!
Wow she sounds so good.
I'm sobbing with joy. Thank you so very much.

Right?? :)
This is just right.
She's a vibe ❤
Joni giving goosebumps as she always has xxx love you so much thank you.
How wonderful to see her remarkable recovery. Joni is legend.
Good for her!!!
Unbelievable and yet, here she is! Wow, what a treat! Today, I also watched a conversation conducted by the Librarian of Congress with Joni, part of the celebrations of the awarding of the Gershwin Prize to her. It would seem this special concert is to be broadcast on PBS on 31 March. I hope it will make it to YT, so this Aussie can enjoy it too. So much love for her and her friends who have made this happen. She deserves every accolade.
Wow. Her voice is a lot stronger than Newport. Thanks for posting!
This may possibly be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard
