I think that the camera records in raw, which if it's not processed leads to a muted look to videos and images, basically someone forgot to do some post-processing... or the camera is crap.

The fact that Twitch still doesn't allow viewers to pick the quality on small streams is absurd. I tried streaming Factorio and like 10 people said they were leaving because they couldn't handle a 1080p stream, then I lowered it to 720p and I got told that it was unwatchable. Twitch's bitrate means that games that have lots of 'noise' in them (i.e. any game that has small objects like Factorio but also games like Cities Skylines) end up looking super grainy or the streamer loses out on potential viewers for setting the quality too high.
Honestly you might as well go to youtube. Twitch stream discoverablity sucks ass. There's just no incentives to stream there until you have a bigger audience from elsewhere. And at that point why even bother going to twitch. Is the chat being better really gonna make that big a difference to your streams. I don't want youtube to have another monopoly but christ it's not like there wouldn't be a good reason this time

Honestly I think Twitch dropped all this in the middle of the chaos on purpose. So many large streamers are attacking each other and Twitch knows it would be near impossible for these people to drop everything and band together against Twitch. By the time the new split actually happens there really won't be much of a fire under those people and it's an easy victory for Twitch.
It had already leaked to WaPo and they had that switch off date, so they just had to pick a busy time to drop the bomb. It's getting bad play on CZcams but streamers themselves are too occupied with drama and serious allegations/incidents to universally condemn it

Over and over I'm impressed by Ludwig's ability to produce these Mogul deliveries. It's concise, well paced, nice toned and in one cut too. This is good good content, and I am grateful.
The worst thing for us viewers is the increased amount of ads. Something like 10 unskippable ads is insane.

Hey Lud, just to let you know the PhillyD show had an interview about the CZcams short split a couple days ago where Phil asked for clarification on how shorts that use music will be monetized. They were saying "We take care of that beforehand" but when pressed they basically explained the music licensing takes their cut first and then the 45-55 split applies to what's left. I think there was some controversy about how they announced it so I wanted to comment the clarification

The issue is, it becomes propaganda at that point. For instance no one adds in the fact that nearly 50% of many of Twitches Content Creators' subs are from Prime. That is money that Twitch just gives the content creators. No one is paying for that other than Twitch/Amazon. If anyone thinks if Twitch goes away that Amazon Prime price will be lowered is naïve. Its just free money for Content Creators at the cost of Twitch which makes up for the 70/30 at CZcams.

Honestly the fact that you can pause and rewind livestreams on CZcams really really sells it for me. As someone who doesn't chat very much, I'd honestly probably prefer if the other streamers I watch moved to CZcams
Edit: if CZcams added something similar to a prime sub that comes with a CZcams premium subscription I feel like they could totally body twitch in like a year or two.
The ad situation did it for me. Preroll adds PLUS 6-8 unskippable 15-30 sec ads is just fucking ridiculous. Worse than cable TV.
CZcams also only shows 1 AD for a Livestream and it's at the start and you and you can skip. I have watched hundreds of hours of Livestream on yt and I have never gotten an AD mid stream meanwhile on twitch you enter a stream it shows 1 out 3 ads
I started watching rae during covid so i never knew that you can not rewind on twitch and when i tried to watch twitch streams after it was so weird and i couldn't get used to. I mean i still watched like few streamers but i deff liked more yt streams 😂
when i wanted to watch the valorant champions games, i wentto youtube if i needed to pause or wanted to rewind if i couldnt find a VOD of it cause you can literally just rewind lol
Yeah, it's usually on for background noise and I pause frequently, kinda just feels like what tv was for adults 25 years back. So it's nice to not feel lost once I resume the stream.
I find one of their biggest issues with Ads is they treat it like the platform works like live television, where all the content is segmented and tailored around Ad breaks for suspense and other reasons or negate Ads entirely if it's Breaking News or an Emergency Broadcast. But that doesn't work for live streaming, the viewer can't pick back up where the "story" left off before the Ads started, so the viewer is now behind on what happened in the stream and the interactions between chat on streamer (that are integral to the live stream "experience") are now desynced. The way Twitch does Ads is disruptive to the vary thing that their platform is built around. I don't think Twitch will make it if they don't realize that and structure how they display Ads (at least in terms of mid-role Ads) on their platform around the "experience" of live streams.

The thing with shorts is ads won’t be on all shorts just scattered throughout so it’s not ads for your short in specific so the split makes sense to me because you don’t have a guaranteed ad for all shorts like you do for posting videos

Meanwhile, CZcams is going to allow Shorts creators to use copyrighted music. If they did that cross the board on all their content (longer standard videos and live streams) then Twitch would pretty much be RIP.

As a viewer, I have always enjoyed CZcams streams more than Twitch, because of things like skippable ads, better FPS, and being able to rewind (also instant VODs that you never need to pay for.) While Twitch chat is way more _fun_ than CZcams chat, that's really it. Most of the other features that make Twitch good come from having to pay for it (like, Twitch Prime is awesome, but also, you have to be paying for the Amazon Prime account to get it anyway). So yeah I'm not really surprised that Twitch is taking more money from creators

Every morning I wake up to a video from Charlie and a video from Ludwig about the latest Twitch drama. I first watch Charlie to wake up chill, make my coffee, feed my cat. Then when I've drank my coffee and am really powered up, I watch the more energetic version from Lud. It's perfect.

I honestly think YT has a better streaming product now than Twitch. Twitch streamers hate the YT Live Studio because it's unfamiliar to them, but just like most things once you learn it then it's easy to do and navigate. I personally think the Twitch studio is confusing af because I never use it. The only annoying thing about YT streams are live thumbs, so if you change games or topics you need to change thumbs for consistency.
No chance. For bigger creators, the CZcams live chat is too fast which makes chat unreadable. Also there's a notable lack of channel rewards. There aren't as many bots which help out either. Your point is valid if you're a lurker (someone who doesn't interact with the stream), but there's a huge difference if you're a chatter. I've used both Twitch and CZcams, getting familiar with both streaming services. However despite the lack of discovery, Twitch reigns supreme for the chatter experience.
I respect your opinion, as it's pretty true if you only watch the livestream and don't interact with it much.
CZcams is the only place I actually WATCH livestreams, and those channels don‘t seem to have any problems, so it definitely must be the former Twitch streamers‘ unfamiliarity. Which is their problem, not mine. You changing workplaces ALWAYS means changing routines. So cry me a river…
And Twitch chat goes by just as fast as YT‘s, that‘s due to the NUMBER of chats/minute. All the Twitch chat windows I‘ve seen so far are actually SMALLER than YT‘s… go figure. 🤷♀️

Is there some kind of explanation out there as to HOW CZcams Livestreaming works better than Twitch? The only reason I ask is I can search Twitch by category. For instance, if I wanted to watch a FFXIV stream or what not, I just look up that game on Twitch, sort by viewers, and boom, I can watch a smaller streamer, playing a game that I like, and interact with them. Is there something like that on CZcams or am I just one of those "Former Twitch Streamers" that doesn't know any better? :P

Ludwig is the only one who is looking like a great investment for CZcams. Great streamers, good content, E for everyone content appealing to all audiences while also promoting the platform on pretty much every occasion possible.
Ludwig is earnings and working hard for that money. The rest of the signs?. Not looking like a good investment. Ludwig contract is the only one "paying" back to CZcams for the trust on paying him the massive contract.
They don't promote the platform, they don't talk about it, they don't sell it to viewers. They just took the money and did nothing to make people be aware than streaming here is just better.
I bet if CZcams can do everything over. They would sign Ludwig and let the others go.

The thing you have to realise about the 45/55 split is that ads are played every FEW videos. Think about it like this, a content creator can make between $10 to $30 for every thousand people that watch an ad. Now let's say you apply that to shorts, where you'll probably have a short ad (5-10 seconds) every 4-7 videos, all of the sudden CZcams effectively paying up to 7x as much without getting more $ per and in the first place. It's not like CZcams is profitable to begin with, but keeping a 70/30 split would be like getting cancer & then trying to cure it with some MLM scam off Facebook.

for anyone wondering why his camera is like that, the camera is filming in "flat" which is where the colors in the image are dulled out of camera but through color grading in post, you can enhance the image by a significant amount. Lud didnt bother to color grade it because almost all Mogul Mail videos are shot in one continuous take and use little to no editing.

My only issue on youtube is the chat, but just make a live stream option next to theater mode wherein it just copies twitch and fits the stream to the whole left side and leaves a sliver on the right for scrolling chat.
The thing is Lud and his crew are working on that with their Truffle plug-in. Hopefully it’ll be available for all CZcams Live folks soon. They’re still testing it/using some streamer friends as guinea pigs for it.

What makes it even worse, on mobile, it buffers like crazy for a lot of streams regardless of your device, mobile or wireless connectivity, etc. Like it's garbage across the board unless you're on a desktop/laptop, and then like you said, unless your internet connection is amazing, the buffering is either endless or you're lagging so far behind what's actually live that it's not worth it.

@@bouncyvenus CZcams has been paying millions of dollars to poach Twitch streamers and make them platform exclusive, yet when contract is over, almost all of them go immediately back to Twitch. It's never about the payout, it's about the interface and chat interaction. There's a reason Twitch keeps focusing on chat interaction improvements and new plugins. These changes will piss off streamers for a while, then nothing will change because viewers don't actually care. CZcams can keep poaching streamers, but it's the viewers they want and it's also the viewers they can't get. Nobody wants to come here and spam laughing emojis on a chat box with white background like a 40 yo soccer mom when Twitch have sh!t tons of emote extensions you can use.
These are topics I've no idea if I would care about at all if Lud weren't the one discussing them - his pacing, his inflection, and enthusiasm for these topics really makes these videos work

I tried to use twitch more often (and this is without ad issues) and the biggest problem i would have is the fact that its just impossible to watch old vods. whenever i discover a new streamer i like, i would want to go back and watch old streams of theirs so i can get a sense of any inside-jokes or an overall idea of how this streamer likes to do things. its just straight up impossible. watching the vods on youtube has just been easy to do and navigate to that i dont see how twitch could ever beat out youtube after this.
This low contrast post processing strains my eyes.. y use my monitor at minimum brightness and this is almost like looking at just gray
The 45-55 split for shorts makes sense to me since a CZcams Short takes so much less effort to create than a full CZcams video that can be monetized. A CZcams Short is able to be viewed way more frequently than say a 10 minute long video. I say that CZcams is being generous to allow for the people who re-upload shitty tiktoks to make a few pennies.

From what I see on Philly D-- if you use music: The music people will take their money first, and then AFTER that, you split 45/55 with youtube from what is left. But they wouldn't be clear on how much the music was going to take from the pot. So not using copywrite music might be the play.

I went and tried to figure out where i can find the livestreams to see something. Theres no option for "livestreams" in the sidebar (although i remember it being there a while ago), the category at the top with the bubbles for livestreams is only there if VERY RECENTLY (as in like a day or so ago) i watched a random livestream, that wasnt there, and i was just lost. couldnt figure out how to find livestreams so i just searched for live and got like NBC news or something.

I hate navigation on youtube so so much, and that goes deeper. I'd love to see content that isnt just my little bubble but the only way of watching youtube is either going down a little rabbit hole, clicking suggested videos from small youtubers on the side if it doesnt just give you the recommended there either, or watching whatever the home page gives you which is either so good you want to watch all of them or so repetitive and boring you want to watch none of them and keep scrolling but getting nothing.
I have some ideas to solve the above issue by the way, im not sure if youtube would do it or if anyone else would even care cuz people have a life and dont just watch youtube all day like me so it doesnt really matter to them but i wonder if anyone would be interested in a 3rd party tool that does just that. aggregate video content from different websites in one place with a better recommended system that you have WAAAAAAAAAAY more control over basically... if that would be the meta it could also allow for more competition between platforms that are essentially monopolies like youtube and they dictate so many things about our lives and expression. but also to be fair even though many ppl complain a lot, its mainly alt-right content creators that are getting screwed over, rightfully so, they are basically just a big hatespeech group but yeah...

Given it's nearing the end of September, I wonder if the announcement timing has more to do with placating shareholders just in time for the end of Q3 than anything to do with the current drama. What sucks about shorts on CZcams, when you go select a music to overlay on your vide, its not even the full 60 seconds.
A smart PR team would have swapped the timing on these two Twitch announcements. Announce the revenue share split change on the 20th, and then the gabling ban the on the 21st.
I pay for youtube premium and I have no ads on any videos I watch, so why would I ever pay for a Twitch subscription for just one streamer unless I watch them almost as much as I watch all of youtube? They should at least offer bundles, like subscribe to 3 or 5 or 10 channels for a discount.
Twitch turbo exists if you just care about getting rid of ads, but twitch seems to try and hide it.

Something important to note, the "45%" rev share on shorts is split between creators and record companies, they are yet to share exactly what the breakdown between them is.
When twitch gave the "current market rate of AWS" as a justification, that's absolutely bullshit. Every service within Amazon (including twitch, a subsidiary) gets a significantly discounted rate for these web services. For example (not actual numbers, just positing), if it costs an outsider without a special deal $4000 to run a particular service, it might only "cost" an internal team $1000 to run the same service.

From what I see on Philly D-- if you use music: The music people will take their money first, and then AFTER that, you split 45/55 with youtube from what is left. But they wouldn't be clear on how much the music was going to take from the pot. So not using copywrite music might be the play.
