      If you like whisky cocktails that you can’t taste the whisky in, then 100% buy a bottle 🤪

    They’re trying get more people into whisky. They’re trying and at least it wasn’t flavored. So I’ll give them that. But good for you guys on trying it. You never know if you’ll like it unless you try it 👍. Cheers 🥃🥃

    Thanks for the review guys.
    As this dram is great to be put into cocktails, I leave it to others to join... and I hope they'll enjoy it.

    I live in Thailand and normally buy a bottle of J&B to mix on the beach in the daytime, I noticed this is now stocked in 7/11 and very reasonable priced at 16 GBP, will give it a try based on your review. Thanks from a fellow Brummie. KRO & SOTV.

      Hi Johnny, £16 for this certainly makes it seem like a much better proposition for cocktails 👍🏻 Thailand is a change from Birmingham and after your comment about mixing drinks on the beach it sounds like it 100% is for the better 😀 Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment 👍🏻

    Another great review guys. As others have commented may give this one a miss. Stick to the Red for mixing and the Black for drinking on its own. Cheers 🥃

    Great video! You’ve both got amazing palates. I’ve enjoyed JW bottles over the years so I’d like to try this especially this summer. JW is huge so they can keep coming out with whatever they want to keep that money rolling in lol Cheers!!

    • @NewDramDrinker
      @NewDramDrinker  Před 3 lety

      They certainly can Ritchie. I genuinely think they already have better whiskies for cocktails in there range which makes this even more if a strange release. Can’t blame them for trying though 👍🏻

    Interesting, and it also opens a big debate on highballs if you ask me (I'm not a fan of them, coz if you wanna real feel the whisky you have to put a lot of it & then what's the point of making a highball ? I prefer a real cocktail). That JW seems expensive for what it delivers, when I hear you....Besides I enjoy this format of videos : 1/ tasting it neat 2/ in a cocktail or highball...Thanks for your cocktail recipes too...Cheers !

    Like the honest approach, once again! I find the marketing strategy a bit odd... whisky for people who don‘t like whisky. They‘d drink vodka, right? So another JW for me to let pass... the label was in German btw. Where did you get it from?

    • @NewDramDrinker

      Hi Luna, we found this online but it wasn’t hard to find. If your not into whisky this definitely isn’t going to change your mind

  • @maltymission

    Hold on, wait just one minute! This was made for mixing? Have we been doing it wrong with JW Red all these years? I understand the reason for this release, trying to tap into a new customer base (although the branding is just trying a bit too hard to appeal to that market), but retailing this around €10 more than the classic JW Red doesn't really makes sense, does it? JW has been doing some nice experimental little things with the likes of the JW Red Rye cask finish and what not, but this... uhm... no.

    • @NewDramDrinker
      @NewDramDrinker  Před 3 lety +1

      Totally agree mate. Like I said in the video, the actual price it will be in the U.K. is a little uncertain as we paid £29.99 but I think that may have been a little inflated due to it not being officially available over here yet. I had a look and it seems like they are going for a $24.99 in America which usually translates directly to pounds so it should be £24.99 but I still wouldn’t bother with it 🤷🏻‍♂️

      I totally agree on the paper with you, Menno (I haven't tasted it but I trust their palates)

      @@NewDramDrinker it's going for 20 euros in NL at drankgigant currently, still priced somewhat higher than Red Label..
      i had a feeling this was gonna be a beautiful bottle containing not-so-beautiful whisky... shame

    • @NewDramDrinker
      @NewDramDrinker  Před 3 lety

      If someone was to have a collection of JW and wanted to add a nice looking bottle to it then it’s well worth a buy, but as a stand alone ‘mixing’ whisky I’d think twice. Saying that, if you see it dirt cheap then I’d give it a go and see why you think.

    Agree that these seem a little gimmicky and seems just a way to leak into the more modern whisky cocktail market. We know nothing will beat Ant's love for the Blue. Cheers NDD!
