In layman’s terms, they genuinely identify as animals; usually on a non physical level, however some people have clinical lycanthropy or other psychological disorders that cause delusions, so they physically identify as animals. These people should not be ostracized for seeking community. a shift (in the context of Therianthropy) is where your mental state /thought process becomes more like their theriotype, or a phantom shift is where someone feels limbs/ears/tail that their theriotype has, but they physically don’t have. A theriotype is the animal someone is. People can have many theriotypes, and they could be any animal such as a cat, wolf, fox, lizard, bug, or shark. There is misinformation spread by haters saying that therians are attracted to animals, which is NOT TRUE. Z00ph1les are not acceptable in the therian community.
