Denise soprano added something I never even noticed! It’s especially highlighted in “Pure Gold”! Wow!
Their sound changed drastically after she left. Even before it became public knowledge of her leaving the group, people noticed that something was different on their new records.
I agree with you. But I still love them. I wish things were different but God does what God wills. Her voice was so airy and pretty. And held down the soprano when Karen was leading.
Definitely changed it, there was a gap in the perfect meld of the voices bcuz she's not just a soprano, she's a very rare, natural HIGH SOPRANO w/a very unique specific quality to her voice. So it added alot to the group to true vocal fans who listen for specifics, quality & techniques that the average listener doesn’t hear or even know to listen for. A good example is her in the background in "ALL in Vain".
I agree!! Even on alto Denise’s voice gives the songs an extra something!! Recently saw an interview with all of them saying Denise’s voice is what made their blend perfect!!

I finally found it,the whole concert. These girls were mixing chords back then...way before it became Contemporary Gospel,way before all of this nonsense they call gospel music today,its not gospel unless its got soul. "Name It,Claim It" is a perfect example of soul in gospel... They broke the sound barrier.💜

Best set of their performing career and that is saying a LOT considering the fact they have countless legendary sets...They killed this set in a way that solidified it for the books!

Twinkie is KILLING it in the opening song. Tone: everything, harmony: flawless, runs: anointed. She's so in sync with Karen. Everything either perfectly melds together or beautifully plays off of her. AND she's playing the organ the whole time.

The squeak was made when dorinda was finishing her run from “we come”, at the same time as the squeak is made U can hear Denise saying “out as pure gold” and the same exact time. Everybody thinks it’s her. Cause she’s done the squeak thing in the past but if u actually listen to it what I’m saying makes a lot of sense and it actually sounds like dorindas head voice. Take it or leave it 🤷🏾♂️
