This romcom reminds me of what happened to this girl who is just like this girl who was tricked into thinking that one of the popular guys wanted to go out with her and he turned around and said that he was just kidding and the fact that he didn't really like her well he really really screwed up with saying that to her because he didn't know that I was standing right behind him and he pretty much messed his pants because I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and I pinned him against a locker and told him not to do that again and he said that he was sorry and he had to go home and change his pants and underwear

That line is a giant load of crap & she (the writers) know it. FMC was flat out infatuated with this guy's looks & is terrible at hiding that fact. The guy was going on auto pilot as she practically jumped the bones of "the best looking guy in school", considering all he did (on screen, before the fake confession) was touch her hand & tell her to be confident.
I get that people take looks seriously, but the last thing you should be doing when dealing with awful people like the antagonist, is complimenting & appealing to them, especially on the trait they put you down for.
I mean, Yuta defended Yui when Asami and the other girls made fun of her, and helped her up when she tripped (over nothing, that was contrived and poor writing), so clearly she thought he was being kind to her even if it was all an act.

Instead, the entire focus (concerning the antagonist) was based on physical appearances, including the constant nods at it throughout the story & the FMC's "physical changes".
The story implies it, the characters imply it, but the written/spoken dialogue (in one instance) SAYS otherwise. That entire segment should have gone completely different with her never talking about the antagonist's "physical appearance", or even better, admitting she had poor judgment pursuing a pretty boy she never properly interacted with. Unlike the MC, whom she knew well enough to retract her accusation of being set up to fail by him after the prank confession.
Finally a story without some ditz who dismissed a guy and came running to the good guy and him dumb enough to accept her
