Q: Can I send you a deck to check out?
A: Only patrons can send me decks and expect a reply, because I get too many of these requests to manage. Consider joining the discord (links above) and posting your decks in the #decks channel for community feedback.
Q: Why didn’t you play this certain card I would play?
A: Because I don’t think it is as good as every other card in the deck.
Q: Why did you make that play at time stamp XX:XX?
A: I usually talk through my plays, so watch again and see if I mention it (I often do, sometimes during the turn after the play to keep the video moving). If I don’t mention it at all, I may have missed it. I miss plays several times a day, and so do other players.
Q: How can I support the channel?
A: Watching the videos IS supporting the channel. There are many options above if you have extra money and would like to help more. I appreciate it, I have a lot of bills and life stuff to manage, but it is not required. Take care of yourself first, watch the videos, then give other financial support if you really want to.
Q: Will you play janky deck xyz?
A: My mission is to show people decks that they can play often, win games with, and feel successful with. I don’t enjoy decks that strive to achieve an interaction but rarely win (aka, janky decks). There are many successful jank players on CZcams, and you should check out their channels. I am competitive, I like winning, and I like helping others win and feel successful. That is why you won’t see janky combo decks on the channel very often.
Q: Do you show all your games, or do you edit out your losses?
A: I don’t show all my games. The video is usually the best moments of between one and three hours of recording. I remove games for a number of reasons, both wins and losses. Some games are slow, some aren’t competitive because of lands, some are the same matchup over and over. More losses get cut out than wins because winning is more fun for me, which makes for better content for most viewers. It can be disappointing for those who want to see me lose (yes, people watch just to see me lose, I see you!).
Q: If you edit out some of your losses, how do I know if a deck is good and worth crafting?
A: If you watch the entire video, I always give my honest opinion about the deck at the end. As always, you are welcome to draw your own conclusions. My goal is to show off a variety of decks that can get a player with skill and conviction into Mythic, and I want them to have fun doing it. I almost never show a video of a deck that I don’t believe in, and if I don’t like a deck after playing it, I guarantee you will know about it if you watch the whole video and listen to what I have to say.

Your seven minutes of analysis before the games started in this video is some of the best content you've produced. You always do deck tech, and not every card needs to be explained, I get that... but your meta analysis and the "why I'm playing this card and not that card" was very interesting. I'd like to see more of that.
Same, analysis of meta and how the deck addresses it is the most valuable part of the intro imho.

I've been playing a deck with Archon of Absolution and it really puts a wrench in mono whites plays
I was playing a Naya squirrel/clarion spirit deck and I got absolutely wrecked by the archon

Solid advice at the start. Sometimes when a deck feels unbeatable, I will play it to understand it's weaknesses.

Really apprecaite this. I used to get so frustrated trying to play my own brews on ladder and I can't tell you how helpful it is to just have something like this that takes all the frustration out so I can rank when I want to and then go back to playing brews in the play queue.
@50:09 you are looking for lethal and adding everything up forgetting that 5 of your creatures do not deal damage at all. You criticized Poppa Capp playing the Valkmira, Protector's Shield but it was very effective based on the board state at the time, and it was obvious that Reidane wasn't going to do anything to affect the game when you've already got a 3/4 Hushbringer. The Shield was the right choice. I actually dont know why they didnt attack with the Haven when you only have 2 creatures that could possibly have been dealing any damage at that point.

This deck is built quite similarly to my Mono White lifegain Historic deck. Very low-to-the-ground, nothing above 3 cmc. Curve tops out with 3 Heliod, 3 Linden and 1 Lurrus; 2 Banishing Light for a tiny bit of interaction. 23 land and all the glorious 1 and 2 drops. It does incredibly well. I'm honestly all aboard the mono color train at the moment; there's a lot to be said for a consistent and reliable mana base. The mono green Historic deck I'm currently working on started life as a Golgari deck, but it was too slow and clunky. I removed the black splash and the deck immediately sprang to life. I may reintroduce the splash, but in a much different way that doesn't slow the deck down.

@@TheStanishStudios i normally play izzet tempo against monoW, as it's got tools to slow 'em down (for example, brazen borrower on a skymauled speaker)
and they lack interaction, which i can easily abuse

I played a similar deck a few seasons ago (another white deck I got from watching your channel) and made it to top 500 mythic... my highest rank ever by far. Mono white is for real, especially in BO1. Thanks for the training, sensei!

Game 3 is why I only run 2-3 Heliods and 20 land. I’ve drawn all 4x Heliods and it was sad. Last I personally like crawling barrens over the castle. 🤷🏾♂️
47:27 I found that the shield would only prevent the first damage to the first creature and then deal 1 damage to the next two creatures. I think maybe its because it triggers off of the opponents creature dealing damage as a single incident even though its spread across multiple creatures.
Already 0-4 with this deck against Rogues (twice), Sultai Ult and a UB Ashiok deck. GG. Seems like this meta has become a "Mother May I?" game, with the amount of cheap control and removal.

On the Izzit dragon game, I’ve been playing my own version of mono white lifegain this and last month, I have never lost to that deck.

Btw, that metagame percentage, 100% bullshit, everyone on ladder is playing either Gruul Adventures, Naya Adventures or Temur Adventures (with all the subsets of variants) Because if you are not playing adventures, you can't keep up
It’s funny Bc if you’re in the higher standard ranks, you can usually find more people playing CGB’s decks the same day he drops a deck guide. I can’t tell you how many times I watched his vids then played against those same/similar decks back to back to back...I am guilty for doing this sometimes, too 😅

A fun piece of tech I've been using lately in a mono-white brew has been Sigrid God-Favored. Lots of fun when they go for the Embercleave and then you just exile the big attacker.
It is def. a great card but it won't work in this specific deck because of Hush
started playing this deck once I hit Platinum (started at Gold this season) and have yet to lose. Currently in Platinum 2 and moving up! Awesome deck.
Hey cgb I know you don't take deck requests (unless somebody threatens to ask for 2 years straight) BUT I'd really love to see an Abzan Yorion doom foretold deck.
There was a guy who asked CGB to do a Teferi's Ageless Insight deck every day for about 100 days. He would post a daily comment saying something like " day 75 of asking CGB to make a Teferi's Ageless Insight deck". Eventually, CGB complied. But the deck wasn't very good, because CGB specializes in competitive decks and doesn't have lots of experience building janky decks.
@@lifeisawesome1391 CGB is great at jank too. It's just that he plays very powerful opponents due to his high rank and his propensity of scaring the algorithm with powerful cards.
@@danieledman5826 What makes you say that? I've never seen him build a good janky deck. The few times that he has played janky decks in his channel, they have not been very good. When playing jank he sometimes makes poor card choices and bad plays. I don't blame him. He has almost no experience with jank. He only plays the top decks from tournaments or the top decks that people are talking about on Twitter. You have to practice something to get good at it.
I’m considering playing some aggro climbing ladder decks, just to get more cards. The coffin is empty after my last work trip. I imagine many play for this reason. It is a money machine we’re playing in after all...

Faceless haven and all your snow lands come in tapped against ridane. I think CGB made this deck specifically to beat mono-red and other mono-white decks.

Either they concede after a mull to 2 because no combo and we're not playing or they win on turn 2 with no counterplay other that turn 1 duress and we're not playing magic...

i dont think he even noticed at the time that the shield protects life total as well. He was counting for lethal but didnt take into account the shield protection

Playing this deck and I cant get past plat 1. Is it only meant for mythic meta or am I just playing it wrong? Lots of counters and removal in plat making it hard to get the deck rolling.

Unless you can protect angel of destiny or get to 35 immediately all it takes is a removal spell and all youve done is given your opponents extra life points when they are hopefully already low hp to begin with. Angel of Destiny goes against everything a aggro white deck does

Sorry, CGB, but have canceled my CZcams membership because the members-only content under the Community tab will not play for me. I click on the content...nothing plays. Was a 2-month member. Apologize for mentioning this here...as a video comment, but don't know how else to contact you. Tried your Discord, but no remedies there, only referrals to CZcams Tech Support (much appreciated). The CZcams Tech Support maze was not fun, and not helpful. If someone can help me get troubleshoot this, I will gladly rejoin the CZcams membership. (Have tried different browsers and rebooted PC many times.) Thank you.
Newbie here 😅: Anybody care to explain what he's talking about here 35:56? Why would he not have blocked when there was no land prior combat dropped? It doesn't make sense to me how dropping the land prior combat affected his decision in this case. I think the idea of the opponent was to signal that there might be another thread in hand to get through without a block.
It does make a lot of sense, because he knows more or less what the opponent has in the deck... in an Black Auras deck he is afraid of Mogis's Favor (the +2-1 he talks about) that costs 1 black mana... once the opponent plays the land on red he knows he is safe (if the opponent had a Shock in hand, unlikely in that kind of deck, it wouldn't make any difference since the opponent would play it before combat). If the opponent doesn't play the land, he would not risk blocking, leaving the creature on 1 life and potentially killable by a black land+ Mogis's Favor which also makes the opponent draw a card. I hope the explanation was clear enough :)

If the Redaine deck dumpsters the removal heavy decks and everyone is going to rush to arena with this lifegain deck and the smart people are going to switch to removal this afternoon in order to counter them then later today the Redaine version should probably make a come back.
I mean, not to be a contrarian, but monoR has about as hard of a time curving out as Yorion decks do with their ETB permanents.
IF you were ever wondering if Arena hates someone worse than you CGB.... I have been playing this deck and have 15 times out of 51 been on the play with a win rate of 86% on the play and 58% on the draw.
