I decided that I would sneak out at lunchtime for a bit to see if I could catch my favorite CSX local. I had a goal: to finally video it on the Willow St. bridge in Southborough. So I waited at the California St. crossing since it has good line of sight on the tracks. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I thought I heard a horn in the distance, and a couple minutes later I sensed the rumble of a train. A moment after that, she appeared around the corner. I wasted no time hopping in my car and driving out to Rt. 9 and up to Willow St. where I parked in my favorite lot for this spot.
I had waited at Willow St. three or four times previously for the train but failed, so this was a load off to finally catch a train here. Since the foliage hadn't really grown in yet, I went for the south side of the bridge, knowing that once the trees grow leaves, this won't be any where near as good a shot as it was that day.
It was a Thursday, which meant the train was only going as far as Clinton (I believe) and was primarily (or solely) servicing Ken's Foods in Marlborough. So that meant a shorter consist. A boy was it ever short this time - 12 cars, which is the second shortest L004 I've ever seen; it also was the first time I saw it with a single locomotive. But a train is a train, and I kind of liked the view looking up at the train on the bridge.
    Enjoy!
