Lee Greenwood is the older gentleman who started the song. He wrote it in the 80’s and it’s been a huge hit for him. The other men who were not in uniform are from the group Home Free. They are a tremendous a cappella group (no instruments) who sing all genres of music. They’ve sung this song before and Lee wanted to do another rendition so he called Home Free and they contacted the US Air Force Singing Sergeants and they were in uniform. This was during Covid so they weren’t together. The bass of Home Free (Texas) has a very low voice and can sing super low. The beatboxer was doing the drum sounds with his mouth. So glad you enjoyed it. It’s one of my favorites!!! 🥰

When I was in boot camp at Great Lakes in '87 , I'd go to the Church service on Sunday. They would play this song, I don't think singing along I ever got thru it without gettin' choked up. It made me realize how Blessed I was to be American. Lee came out with this song when we needed a shot in the arm of Patriotism

Cute note: the guy who sang the line "From the lakes of Minnesota" is Rob Lundquist and he is from Minnesota. The guy who sang "Across the plains of Texas" is Tim Foust, who is from Texas. I have to believe they planned it that way 😊.

He was the one who suggested adding the Singing Sargeants to this collaboration with Lee Greenwood. Btw, did you hear the sound of a jet flyover at the end? Jono, America is more of an "ideal" or "way to live" than a land in my humble opinion. Being an American is that ideal. It is the breath in our chest, the heart beating, it is the sun rising and the sun setting and every single choice and action you take! You have every right to feel patriotic to that same ideal. If you are a good person, with a good heart, who wishes for the best for others......you got it! It does not matter where you were born, or where you live.....it is how you choose to live every single moment of each day that makes the difference!

In fact if the institutional "United States of America" were to ever go away, there will always be some group of people who still have those values and who are ready to fight and die for them. And then there will be another "USA." It truly is in the heart. Thank you for your comment, Darice.

At 65 years old, having National Pride isn't what it was when I was younger! It makes my heart swell with love for these men, who not only SING this song masterfully, but with meaning for every line in it! Lee Greenwood, Sir, you are a Master at songwriting and sing your words beautifully! The combination of these three groups is sheer perfection and I am taken back to much better times, when America was a much better place! The people themselves haven't changed! But, the Federal Government has left the people! For all of you really good Democrats; please stop voting your heart and vote with some common sense! We need to get America back on the right track! We need to be the Country that our forefathers prayed for and believed we would be! We need to remember what we have lived through and put GOD back in our schools and COUNTRY! WE must be a COUNTRY with borders and stop this insanity that the WOKE MINORITY, who would like for us to believe that they are the MAJORITY, is trying very decietfully to cram down our throats! DO NOT believe them! There are only a handful of them but they are loud and crude! This makes the world believe that is what AMERICA is made up of! Well! It is NOT! Let us, with GOD'S help, get back to the America of Thomas Jefferson and the men, who so valiantly stood up for Freedom; who so valiantly stood up for the dream of AMERICA! This lovely song, with every beautiful note, describes what America was and still is! Thank you for a wonderfully heartfelt reaction! It is right on target and very appreciated!

Homefree, a completely accapello group, makes every musical sound through their beatboxer; even the drums! This is a combination of the American Air Force Band, Lee Greenwood, and HOMEFREE! The bass is Tim Foust, from Texas and has a 5 octave range! His tenor is as awesome as is his bass! Fantastic Song!!!

I hope you noticed the "flyover" sound by Adam Rupp (beatboxer extrordiaire) right at the end. I missed it for a long time before someone mentioned it in a comment. Thanks for the great reaction. I didn't see any other reactions to Home Free on your channel. They are the group with the amazing beatboxer who put together this collaboration with Lee Greenwood, who wrote the song, and the Air Force's Singing Sergeants. I would love to see you react to more of their music. If you have a playlist for them already, I would love to see a link to it. If not, dive down that rabbit hole and enjoy the journey! 🙂

This was produced during the pandemic, so performers were in each of the locales shown at the beginning. That's why you see the different conductors and various studios. I was in the Navy back in the 70s, and this still gives me chills (I'm 74.) As a veteran of the military, I have the authority to name you an honorary American, so WELCOME, BROTHER! This is the first time I've seen you, and am subscribing. Continued success!

The old version of Lee Greenwood singing this song is played every year at our towns 4th of July Fireworks display and everyone in the crowd knows it and sings along with it, it’s so moving to hear everyone singing together all around the Lake and it’s echoing off the walls of the lake, it’s wonderful! Such a beautiful song, God is our strength in this Country, God has made us what we are because we listened to Him but we’ve fallen away from God here and I’m afraid the USA will fall from within if we do not get back to God morally, faithfully, and for guidance in this Country.❤️✝️❤️

This is actually a video by Home Free, an A cappella country vocal band who collaborated with Lee Greenwood, the original artist who wrote and performed this song back in the 80's, and also featured the Singing Sergeants of the U.S. Air Force Band. This was the A cappella version, no musical instruments, off Lee's original. This was done during the pandemic lockdowns, hence the different locations of the performers.

When I went through US Navy Basic training in Great Lakes in 1996. The Drill Instructors played this to us while we were working together on PT. It broke the toughest of us down and we sang this together in tears. Stands out to me as the moment we came together as US Navy Sailors and what we were here for. A coming together moment that broke us away from who we were when we arrived to who we would be as the defenders of our nation. God Bless the USA!

Jono when i hear you speak of wide open spaces, and self reliance, patriotism, the pride of working with your hands... immigrants with your attitude is what made this country great. Whether Asian, African, European, Latino.. the hunger
and desire to make it on your own, is why we welcome 1,000,000 people every year. We embrace those who bring rugged individualism, yet will stand shoulder to shoulder to defend our way of life.
