Agree, but to Denzel it's not about Oscars, it's about playing the character in the story and portraying him as written to the satisfaction of the audience; His words in an 1992 print interview. He is a very conservative christian who branched off and away from HW to produce movies and select his own character in written stories and bring it to life on screen. Jose . . . yeah. It was a rhetorical question -- for she knew Creasy loved her. Creasy was a damaged, impervious soul -- so much so that when Pita said she loved him, he probably would not have said it back if she hadn't asked him to confirm it. That's how deep and damaged he was. It was obvious he loved her all along, but he was so damaged, broken and impervious that he would not admit to it unless asked on the spot, which Pita did. She knew this, and hence why she asked it. Great writing, acting and cinematography!

He took care of her and bonded with her without ever truly giving her the words she wanted to hear but he was her protector and she felt that. Fathers may not be up for all the talking but they get it done. The best kids are the ones who receive this kind of attention.

I think most people cry when they see this scene, but for different reasons.
Some cause it's terribly sad, others because of the genuine love between Pita and Creasy, or maybe even some combination of the two.
But the reason this scene gets me is that it overwhelms me with a sense of pride.
It's the part right at 4:27 as he lets Pita go, knowing he'll never see her again and turns to face his fate, knowing all that's left for him is death and pain. He looks scared, but his will to do what must be done to save the ones he loves never wavers.
The level of courage it takes for a man to walk valiantly to his death to save others is the stuff of legends told around the world...and this scene is no exception.

I first heard the real story, as to what actually happened and to where this story first came about.
An Ex Regimant (British S.A.S) guy looked after a Family in South America. He had nothing left, no one to call family etc... The child was actually a boy.
The S.A.S. guy felt guilty, ultimately dishonoured after the boy was captured. He phoned his Mother, telling her of his situation. His brother answered the phone & then passing it to his Mother, with a shocked expression on his face,
He could see the life drain away from his Mother's face. The Mother listend to the final words of her HERO Son, as he told her where to find the boy whom he had helped to save.
I know this for a fact, as it was my Brother who saved him!

You wear holy work shirts so you're kids get new ones. Work a job you hate with all your being but the money is good and your kids are happy.
Your kids never know what you do for them. The little sleep you got working two full time jobs. It's done every day in all parts of the world. Father's doing all they can. To make sure their kids have, even if it means they go without. These are the men to be acknowledged and revered. I guarantee you know one as they are everywhere. Make sure you thank them.

Creasy grew to love Pita so much more than any father could love his own daughter. Creasy was Pitas guardian angel. I feel Tony Scott installed Creasy as a near immortal with the power of love making him almost god like. Living just enough to save Pita. One of my top 3 movies for sure. RIP Creasy.

Am far from a film buff/critic but this film is just so perfectly assembled to engage you entirely it’s a work of art. The music is so perfectly matched with this scene.
You cannot watch this and not be moved. Tony Scott is a genius

6:31 When Pita looks up, and Creasy looks back at her one last time, and she realizes he's not getting away and he knew he wouldn't... and she mouthes his name with so much sorrow at the realization. T__T
    .
She didn't know he was wounded, but she did realize he loved her so much that died for her. Because he did; he could've sought medical treatment, but it would've slowed him down, locked him in place and kept him from doing what was necessary to find her. He made the choice not to.
    .
Idk about irl, but I'm glad in this movie that he passed away from his bloodloss before they could torture him. I hope the real man didn't suffer much. :' (

One of the most beautiful scenes in cinema history. This is pure love from a broken man. He gave his life and had no regrets. I too have a few young girls that I would gladly give my life for. This movie just reminds me of the love I have for them. Beautiful and true

In the end, he won. The Voice didn't get the pleasure of torturing or killing Creasy. He died on a car ride knowing he saved the person that gave him back the meaning of life that was once lost to him. He went in pass. It was a good ending.

Charlie Robles a real man would die for there loved ones, would be there for them whenever they need them, would show compassion, emotion etc. The definition of a real man is having honour, love and respect.
