    Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

Are you terrified to tell your truth on the page?

Historically he's wrong. For all of human history, story telling has been a delivery device for teaching. The modern movement of stories becoming this search for truth and meaning is what leads to stories being devoid of meaning. The most successful stories, whether theyre books, or movies, are the ones that have lessons in them that resonate with everyone. Lord of The Rings teaches the value of optimism and innocence and the insatiability of lust. George Lucas Star wars teaches how good men fall, how great nations collapse, and the importance of living by the spirit of the law as opposed to the letter of the law, and how optimism is so powerful it can even redeem the fallen. Theme and truth are in there but they are a byproduct of the purpose of the stories; to teach. The movies that are unsuccessful are always statements of what writers think, which is what happens when you strive for truth, you get stories that say 1+1=2. It's true, but it doesn't have any resonance. For a story to be successful, you have to aim to teach. What ever it is. If you do that, it will force you to create scenarios and obstacles that will teach your character the lesson you are trying to get across, the audience will then learn these alongside your character as your character goes through the learning process. If you do that well. You will end up with a story full of meaning, truth, and thematic bliss, but they are byproducts
And for his example of Lady Bird, the lesson is that it isn't always a bad thing to go back to where you come from. Everything he speaks about comes as byproducts of that lesson being told.

Alan Watt makes such sense; my 1st novel is very clear now, and I'm through draft 1 and on draft 2. Thank you!

There goes Alan Watt with story wisdom once again. His books on novel and screenplay were game changers for me. Simple yet profound stuff. Great Film Courage interview questions as well (as always). Thanks, y’all.

I think it resignates for you because he speaks to people who write for the system. He's inviting us to all write for ourselves, that's huge. I'd look at why the things Allan says has so much meaning for you. Digest it. And wrote from it. Correct me if I'm wrong

5:03 resonated with me because I have the same story idea haunting me for years, I haven't been able to successfully start it, I've been stuck. I think I am subconsciously afraid of telling the truth on the page, I try to understand it and try to dig deeper but it's been hard. Lol my subconscious is telling me something 😂.
