OKS !! Great video on resistor replacement ,, but this was the 3rd resistor that had installed so took the heater motor out & replaced it ALL !! The ""Auto Parts ''store I went to was glad that I brought the old parts as there are 2 blower motors for this unit !! 1 bolts in & the 2nd just turns & locks !! The 1 needed was the turn & lock !! If you have anymore problems with your
Its crazy you had to do the same thing 6 years after this and still had the same truck
Changing the blower motor is very easy also. Cost of blower is around 100.
Good job. If it happens again it could be your blower wearing out causing excess amperage demand.
Thanks for the video. I am here because my 2005 Silverado blower stopped today (all speeds). I hope this fixes mine....
Exact same thing, only works on 5! Thanks fr video. It did it when i first got it then worked for a while, now is on the fritz again.
No problem at all:) I am happy it helped someone else!
O I agree! Grr! I am just glad I figured this out before I took it to the dealership. How many people pay like $400 to $1.000 to get this fixed I wonder:(
Great video!! had to change mine last night because my blower stopped blowing and it was forecasted to be -30 Celsius today. This video helped a lot! I got the part at Canadian Tire for 59.99$. Easy fix that probably would have cost hundreds if I brought it to a shop. Thanks!
I'm never seen this post! I'm happy and help you:)
FYI, make sure that you keep the receipt for the new resistor block, as the new one will probably go bad again. I have replaced several of them on my truck. Depending on who you buy them from, it will have a warranty that will allow you to get a replacement.
Also, cut the power supply wires off the old one (if you know it's bad) that feeds the blower motor so that you can use them to check your blower motor operation by direct feed of power to ensure that your blower motor itself is ok. You can also check the resistance through the motor to ensure that it is up to snuff.
Good stuff Ken:)
I just came acrossed this problem in my 03 Silverado and I came across a recall. The resistor wiring harness needs replaced as well and it will quit burning them up. If your still having problems.
Thanks:) I was happy I could do this myself because it saved me some money! Hope it does the same for you and others!
me ayudo mucho. saludos desde Venezuela.
Thanks for the tip. The Ru1064 was the wrong part but the RU1264 four hole worked like a charm and not needing the bracket from the old one. But there was a $30 price difference
+Jeff Stone, happy you got it fixed:) Still saved a bunch of money so that's awesome!
Very good video and very helpful. Consider adding the correct part number to the video or your description.
I did add the right part number to the annotations:) I also say later in the video the right part.
Thank you by the way Hugo:)
It should bro:) Let me know how it goes!!
Yes you would, I would call first and have the 17 digit VIN ready and make them check
@k20teggydc Thanks:) I am happy it got fixed!!
just changed mine this am. your video was a great help. thanks!
Thanks for your video I changed mine today....and I run with the same problem the first time, I got the part at a place called "advance auto parts" and it was the wrong part, I went back and they said there was nothing else, I went to "bumper to bumper" another auto store that was on my way back, and they had the correct part I even checked that it was a little offset, I took it home, put it together and now i got heat in the lower settings! Thank you!
Totally happy to help!
I tried to change mine but I cant find one that fits up in there
Good job
Is there? What would I need to give them to show I replaced it myself? The receipt?
Not that I can remember:( You can take the resistor and check it to see if it's good. That may fix your issue. Sorry I could not be more help!
Wow, using a resistor for an application like that is something that no engineer would do unless they wanted it to fail, and not work well until it did fail. On top of being the wrong application for a resistor, it would have been cheaper for them to use a ready made one that would last longer. To see that kind of intentional failure and fire hazard designed into a modern vehicle is infuriating.
It's at about 2:30. It's the bracket that attaches to the back of the resistor that changes the position of the bolt holes. My factory one doesn't fit and I was wondering where to get one that fits.
That piece ended up not working for me. If you watch the video after the 2:30 mark you will see that I ended up not using that piece. I didn't buy that piece anywhere either, it came with the truck. The new resister I got installed correctly without that piece. Maybe you have the wrong resistor.
i had the same problem on my 03 Silverado got my parts from local gm dealer not to bad 38.00 make sure u check the plug for burn spots if so u might need to replace the plug too .the plug is not cheap !! thanks the video was helpful !!
Awesome:) Happy it is still helping people!
It's a good thing I didn't need that other plug the plug was like a hundred dollars
That is crazy!! How do they sleep at night? Ha ha ha!!
Matt
Thank you very much .. was a very easy with your video ... took only 10 minutes to replace.. very much appreciated ..
No problem at all my friend:)
O cool!! I am happy it helped for sure:)
i have the same question as this last guy.... the bracket.. where did you get the bracket from and what part number was it. ...
I went to O'Reilly and got a masterwork 2-bmr21 is that the correct part number?
Where did you get that extra bracket that holds it in place? I don't know where to get one
Austin Moore, what part of the video are you talking about? Give me a time and I will see if I can tell you:)
Well, that receipt is long gone:(
So you don’t show the one that works. Thumbs down.
I have a 2002 chevy silverado. i shut the ignition of went in the house
. came back out and went in the truck and my blower motor was running. does anyone know what the problem could be?
illuminati
how is this a diy; hon; the fridge is broke, i goin DIY it.... i mean i geuss... but clarify im DiYing right now in some tissue... i think mine is better because i made a rig to do this so im hands-free talking to you... this is more approiate because not only am i not doing it myself (agree to disagree), i made made something myself to do it... diying i feel has an extra step; you may as well said; "diy chevy motor transmission rocket resistor... and tthen had a video of you doing it yourself right down to a mechanic so he can, again wrong use, diy... the correct term is replace.... my grammer getting if e... i shouldve left before i
I wish I had found this a week ago. Just installed a new switch set thinking that was the problem. Thanks for the video, ordered the part just now (~$20 on amazon btw)
turns on ignition...theres a fire....
What would be easier is if someone can figure out a way to bypass the stupid resistor.
I wonder why they did that;) LOL!! I hope I don't need to buy a new one tell I sell my truck.
Hey, if my video helped you can you hit that "like" button for me? I want others to get help on this problem because I went without air for like 2 years!! LOL!!!
There is a recall GM has for this, you can get your money back
Yup, this was a waste of a video. We are all comming accross the same issue you did and you offer a broken link to the part we all need.
