I'm a Bengali Londoner and I will never forget how my Somali mate's cousins in Gothenburg fed us like we were at a wedding. much love and respect for Somalis.
The chef was so welcoming and Polite, love how is English became very limited when asking about the spice mix he uses haha

They just prefer to keep a low profile usually. Focus on food more rather how the place looks . In Somalia it's combo of ambience and taste though

@@balochafghan4890 Its hearty and delicious, try their pulao and samosas. Very tasty and they know how to use spices sparingly to bring out the taste in foods.

Our gentics we are lean in stature as our forefathers were camel herding pastorolists who lived off a diet which was based on camel milk and camel meat.

One of the secrets has to be soy sauce! Lol...When i ate at Brothers (iâm sure you know this place) the beef steak had this distinct flavour profile but iâm assuming now after the chef mentioned he uses soy sauce that they (brothers) also must have used it on the beef to give it that deep rich flavour, of course thereâs more to it but I suspect thatâs one of the keys lol
@@tshelby9808 Hahaha Thatâs not true actually. The secret to Somali food flavor has to do with the exact herbs and spices we use which doesnât contain soy sauce at all. I think youâre trying to get it out of us by using a clever tactic or outlandish statement in order to make us reveal it. Well done @ T Shelby. Nicely played ;)

So, I watched your video on Sunday and decided to visit Al Kahf today.
Everything was just as you said, "cooked to perfection". Great portion sizes and reasonably priced too!
This was my first place I experienced Somali food. At first I was a bit unsure of what to expect, but the flavours are really nice. The three Somali soup is definitely underrated

I've tried Brothers cafe in Tottenham, Savannahs in Shepherds Bush, Hooya's kitchen in ilford... all had fantastic đ food. Next on the list is Al Kahf inshaAllah

Next brothers in Tottenham is another restaurant that I think serves better food
@@aja2168 nothing yet has matched the taste of brothers cafe. Savannah is more modern decor and food is great too.
@@aja2168 for me I loved brothers but if ur female u will feel awkward a lot of male go there however they have side for females. Savanna is not very very authentic they have authentic mixed with Morden western food and very fantasy still great but u will not feel like Somali authentic food however I didnât try the other two and will go there soon inshallah (godâs willingness)†I tried Duniya in Harlesden authentic food as wellđđœ
Yummm. Iâm a Somali living in Qatar and I really miss Somali restaurants in the West, especially Toronto where Iâm from. The spices we use are similar to Indian spices - cumin, coriander seeds, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, red chili powder, garlic and lots of fresh coriander. Thatâs pretty much the base of our spices. And this chef is using soy souce to top it up a notch. In my family, we add a bit of brown sugar and lemon juice to the lamb.
There is other spices that are missing and we use them so letâs make it secret for the restaurant đđ€
I lived in Doha and used to go to souq waqif Yemeni restaurant to get my Somali food fix. The host there was a Yemeni Somali who always made us feel so welcome.
This looks so delectable that I want to book a plane ticket and leave Miami, Florida in the USA right away to this restaurant. Looks phenomenal!!!
You can find amazing Somali food in the US, mainly in Ohio, and Minnesota.

@@sunflowerbaby1853 usa food the meat isnt the same . I tried both uk and usa.. yall have fake meat when u eat in uk and dubai you will realize the food in usa isnt real .. is hard to explain .. new orleans and washington and ohio probably the best bet for food in usa
You won't be disappointed, east london has every cuisine you can wish for and more
Are you muslim? Maybe try to find a somali at a local masjid. Then ask them about somali food. You might even get a home cooked meal.

Well, they need to be more open minded and mix with other people. If they keep speaking their language around non Somalis and staring too much of course they would people people off and nobody would go to their restaurants
Am really enjoying these trips to other chefs.

This is my local somali joint. The meats are to die for. The decor is horrendous lol. You don't go there for the aesthetics of the restaurant, you go there for the food only! The rice alone is amazing.
I tried Yemeni food in Qatar with our Yemen friend. It was an incredible experience with insanely diverse but delicious food. People who explore are often rewarded.
I went there with two of my brothers and I LOVED it. Itâs so good I recommend.

As a Somali from London this Restaurants is to die for MashaAllah with excellent chefs and workers, however you should try Brothers Restaurants in north London, youll thank me later :)
