join me on my venture from the Infamous Queensbury Stations North Junction Towards Thornton Viaduct We also discover something non - railway But interesting on the way !
Another excellent video on a West Yokshire line . Thoroughly enjoyable. You're becoming quite the expert on railways in West Yorkshire .Well done .Looking forward to Part 2 .
This is quite nostalgic for me the Alpine route as it was known, great features, tunnels, embankment and bridges and the contractors who built it after they built the Settle - Carlisle line.
Just a little history of the Keighley-Queensbury-Bradford Exchange Line closed to passengers 23-5-1955 and to freight in 1965 the lines income was badly hit after WW2 by stiff Bus competition and the rise of car ownership plus BR needed to spend a fortune on track and infrastructure as the line was very heavily used in WW2.
@@exploringthepastandthepres9793 Closing" Uneconomic" Railway Lines accelerated from 1950 as the Government Running costs were stupendous after Nationalisation as Labour borrowed a fortune from the USA as the UK was nearly bankrupt after WW2 in fact the National Debt is today £3.2 Trillion the Annual Interest Payment is currently £107 Billion.

I’ve cycled this route a couple of times, I start at Thornton then make my way to Queensbury station site and try to look at the tunnel portal,
Hopefully the can extend this eventually back through wellshead tunnel and hamsersill towards the Denholme station
