    My wife and I found some in the woods end of August. She cut some up into strips, seasoned it and fried it in butter. I came out like scrambled eggs and was delicious. If you have vegan friends, they'll really get a kick out of it. We were so stoked to find 10 pounds of free food just sitting by the trail.

    I found my first Puff ball! It was smaller and when I broke it open it looked like it was already spoiling - happy to have found it but also happy to leave it to go back into the soil ♡

    My favorite way to cook giant puffballs is to cut them in big slabs, about twice as thick as you've done, and then drege them in beaten eggs and flour, and then cook them slowly in butter in a cast iron skillet. A big puffball steak! Yours look pretty good, too! Giant puffballs are pretty unmistakable, especially at the giant sizes. But if the insides have started turning yellow, they are too old. Thanks for featuring a really special part of autumn!

    You can also cut the giant puffballs into slices with the skin and freeze them. The taste and consistency with the skin are better preserved. greetings from Germany

    I would never be able to eat a wild mushroom. Maybe with the exception of a morel... Just the thought of mushroom poisoning...

    • @TimFarmerCK
      @TimFarmerCK  Před 4 lety +5

      There are plenty of ways to educate yourself. When you spend the time to key out particular parts of the mushroom, and understand the varieties, it will become very clear. The awards are amazing. Next week we include a chicken of the woods mushroom with our meal. It was outstanding. If you know what to look for, you cannot make a mistake. Diligence and research is worth the effort.
