  • India's Billionaire Maharajahs | Real Stories
There are now more billionaires in India than there are anywhere else in the world, excluding China and America. From glitzy Bollywood weddings and luxury yachts, to building gigantic towers and palaces and holidaying around the world, these new Maharajahs compete with each other to spend more. Although the majority of Indians live below the poverty line, these select billionaires live off of the riches of the country’s growing economy. We immerse ourselves in the lives of billionaires with very different profiles : from rich heirs to the self-made men. What difficulties do they face in getting to the top? During this 6-month long investigation, we infiltrate this tightly knit circle of India’s new billionaires.

The person who impressed me most is the woman they refer to as "untouchable". She's an inspiration, amazing and full of class. Am so happy and proud of her courage, humility, intelligence, kindheartedness and unprecedented accomplishment. She's truly a rule model.

She is giving back. That is a wonderful thing. But she should teach them how to fish instead of giving them a fish (ex. Money for start up the business/pay for kids school instead of wedding (I understand that is the culture---but that is a luxury and short terms want(they need to address the NEED not want).
I see the other rich people, and they just want to show off. They should enjoy their money, but they should also give back---to school for in touchable class and grant to start up the business.

The most impressive for me was Kalpana, the inspirational lady that defied her untouchable caste system and rose to the top. She may not be a "billionaire" according to the $$ ranking, but she definitely is the richest.of them all in terms of guts and heart! The cherry on top is that she also has commanded the love and respect of her children in what they are all building together. Awesome, simply awesome!!
