- From 1996 to 1999 Manchester based electronika label Skam Records released a series of 5 very limited 12" compilation records titled MASK 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500. The number in each title did not only indicate the order in which these records were released but also the number of copies pressed. Thus, MASK 100 is limited to 100 copies, MASK 200 is limited to 200 copies and so on.
MASK 500 is a compilation of various electronica acts covering well known pop songs, from Duran Duran's "Save A Prayer" to David Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes".
A cover of Man Parish's hip-hop/electro classic "Boogie Down Bronx" from 1984 by mysterious electronica collective - and Autechre side project - Gescom is one of the highlights of this release.
Anyone complaining about this track has shit in their ears. This is a masterpiece.
Saw autechre live in some big London warehouse on the Thames many years ago. Absolutely mental! Proper pair of geniuses.

Stuff of Dreams, they visisted Denver, Colorado a ways back. Right after I moved from there! Autechre has an elusive style, boogie down bronx.

Have you ever asked a manufacturer to press you 1000 records, especially back then? Its just not worth doing.

I think I have to agree..... leave the classics alone.....!
Give it a "C".........as someone has already said..."if it ain't broke....."!...remember rockin' to the the orig!...to tell you the truth the orig. instro. sounds 100x better than this, a sick tune on it's own!....S.W.s "antidote" was 10x better than this, but still didn't come within a mile of the ridge.
