After all these years admiring and loving BTS and their music, this simple statement hits me hard. I became ARMY after hearing the 1st BTS masterpiece 💜. I cannot get enough and love the solos also. They make me love music more! 🎶
It's Greek mythology when they were performing their solo routines each member represented a Greek Gods Dionysus was the Greek God of fertility later, he came to be known chiefly as the God of wine and pleasure. The name of this BTS performance and song is Dionysus.
One of the really amazing things about this is that it is not a BTS concert. It is an award show. There are many other K-Pop groups. They are waiting to find out if they are going to win anything. This is one of the years that BTS swept the four top awards in the show.
I discovered BTS six years ago at age 69. My generation discovered Rock and Roll and R&B. I had seen all the greats from Sinatra, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Motown, Sam Cooke, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Smokey Robinson, MJ, my kids introduced me to Rap Dr. Dre, Snoop, Cypress Hill, Tech 9, Tupac, Eminem, etc, but finding BTS as your guest said " made me fall in love with music" like the first time. The vocals, the harmonies, the melodies, the beats, the bars, the lyrics, the mix of any genre, OMG BTS. THEY were stand alone , the were the genre. BTS has no competition, they are in their own stratosphere. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Very well said... You those legends that you mentioned were the inspiration for BTS. And now they created their own genre called bts genre.. The are legends now in this era and yet remained humble and kind..
No k-pop group or any other artists can put on a performance like BTS. They are top of the game. These young men have been mistreated and ridiculed since they began. Their songs resonate with so many that are full of love and hope. Their songs are telling the world WE MADE IT! I respect these men 💯!

I am so happy your friend pointed out JK’s talent & understood WHY he is the main vocalist. What he does as a main vocalist is very challenging. Ad libs, harmonizing, singing the vocal guides for not only the group, but even the vocal guides for the solo songs for the rappers AND singers. He deserves the praise. BUT his love for Jimin is so cute!!! Jimin was who I was drawn too when I started getting into BTS as well. He is just a phenomenal performer & so unique. Great review! Jimin literally is an angel and all his solos performances are perfectly captivating he has won the category of the Best dancer pf kpop for five years, he transmites emotiones and feelings with his movements and pretty face, love jimin angel so much❤

Among kpop only Jimin can do all various types of dancing. The only idol who have a national award. Im very proud of him. Multitalented but very humble human being.

💜 Both Jimin and J-Hope are the Main Dancers officially.
It was unusual to have two Mains but it’s real. J-Hope is also the “dance leader” (an unofficial title) because he has chief responsibility for making sure the performance is on point and he leads the practices with the choreo directors. Jimin helps too but is often asked either to work with some of the members more one on one or to help with choreo ideas. The new book talks briefly about Jimin’s impact and how the company made the decision to have two main dancers (JH and Jimin), a lead dancer (JK) and Tae as last member of official dance line since about 2018-2019.

Jimin was the only one who did his stage live. This is the performance that made me ARMY and Jimin bias. It was so good to see them all have a moment to shine on their own and then come together and absolutely smash their performance 💜🔥🤯

@@tlatlsgo. JK’s performance was pre-recorded too. Only Jimin performed it live. JK even reacted to it and said that he was shocked that Jimin did it live
Jimin pre recorded but he decided to perform live and broadcast live at the same time (his pre recorded was not broadcasted). Jk had to pre record because of the water set; however, Jk also performed on stage without the water set for the audience while the pre recorded was being broadcasted live.

Technical difficulties can be such a frustration to a content creator. I feel for you, QoFy! I must say, though, we could clearly see how you two were sharing ideas, recognizing certain ones, appreciating their live mics, grooving with the music, and generally having a great time. Does it help to know Jin was trying to get a v-live started from his hotel room, right after a fan meeting, and couldn't figure out why nobody was tuning in? Jin said he thought, "Ah! Their love has cooled down!" Then he saw it was on rehersal mode, so he switched it and there everyone was!
That's such a good little video, I'll leave the link here. Some of the captions are fangirl editorial remarks - but keep watching and reading because he gets into his famous "self-praise" monologue, the basis for some of the lyrics in Butter: "Oo, when I look in the mirror, I'll melt your heart into two! I've got that superstar glow, so, Oo-oo! Oo-oo-ooo!" [I don't think Jin wrote those lyrics, but I think the writers knew of this video.]

@niickycalder V is in the dance line since Son Seong Deuk said that he improved and he could be in Dance Line. But that is not the same as him holding the main dancer position. Dance line is like vocal line, rap line, maknae line, hyung line etc which does not really have official position. The official postion requires skills and responsibilities in the group

Seen this MMA so many times already, but still I'm amazed everytime. BTS performing a show is just on a whole other level.I hope we will see another epic performance of them after 2025, when all members return. Eventhough they'll be a bit older by then.
As some others pointed out, Dionysus is a God from Greek mythology, of fertility, wine and festivity. The 7 lights combined are the constellation Corona Borealis, the Crown of Ariadne, which was Dionysus' wife. All 7 members represent a greek God during their solo performances. V is Apollo, Jin is Ares, Jimin is Artemis, Suga is Hephaestus, JK is Poseidon, J-Hope is Zeus and RM is Dionysus, who seems to throw a party for his friends on Olympus, the mountain where the Gods live.
The details are amazing, even the backup dancers or people on stage have a special meaning in the stories of the mythology.
All the members perform with their specific God-signs like Fire, water, thunder, war, sun and moon. Jimin and V, (same age), are twin Gods, and they shared a pair of earrings.
The horns, flowergirls, the cougars that were blown up, all symbolise parts of the historic myths.
BTS is truly mindblowing for this. The choreo for this performance was made by Sienna Lalau, who also did ON with BTS.

If you notice Jimin got the difficult parts of the choreo so its kinda understandable of the stability when its his solo compared to others he travels from side to side. Theres a video about that how Jimin travels from one place to another in each song. I feel tired just watching him.

Both Jimin and J-hope are MAIN dancers 😂 No matter how many times I watch this, they both nail their parts. Such a pleasure to watch. The only minus is that J-Hope blends in to the background too much, he should have worn some lighter coloured clothes so that he could stand out more.

I totally agree with your friend that BTS has made me love music more. I had honestly stopped listening to music except for in passing when it used to be such a big part of my life. I had given up on western artist not doing anything new, interesting or meaningful. Now I listen to mostly them daily and all day. I love their creativity, the amazing lyrics, the skillful rappers and out of this world vocalist and numerous genres. Etc…..Their discography is so deep you never get bored listening to them as a group and then throw in the solo work. It’s just insane. I haven’t even mentioned performance and charisma and charms.

Please don't let them affect your good work..even I am jimin bias but not once I thought about you not mentioning jimin as main dancer. There are few people who are really possesive about appreciation of their biases so don't mind them. And especially since you both seems to like jimin there will be few jimin biases who will always expect you to always appreciate jimin but don't even give them time to your response. Loved your reactions, and even enjoyed the muted mic part, I thought it was really cute and you were both so animated and clearly loving it, it was fun! Jimin’s so special, I agree. His voice, his personality shining through, his dance - amazing. It is interesting to me though how as you listen to the older BTS music you can hear even then how distinct each member is. They all contribute and their best songs are ones where they each have a large part. It’s a major part of what makes BTS special for me. Each member contributes something important and without any one of them, it wouldn’t be as spectacular.

Each member represents an Olympian god:

Jin: Ares
Jimin: Artemis (Apollo’s twin)
Suga: Hefestus
J-Hope: Zeus

The light bulbs form the constellation CORONA BOREALIS which was Zeus’s wedding gift to Ariadne (married to Dionysius)
Dionysius was known to ride leopards (the inflatables )…

To think this isn't a BTS concert but an Award Show but then they did take home all 4 Grand Prizes. (major awards).
The high notes while RM is rapping is actually Jin, a lot of Dionysus high notes are both Jin and Jimin. Dionysus was written by JHope and is based on the Greek God of Wine making, they compare the desire to over indulge in vices, to their own vices, which is music. For a producer to proclaim they love music even more after watching this show is truly an example of their impact. There was one producer who was working with RM in Indigo who was thinking of quitting the industry, and he only participated because Namjoon asked, afterwards he said that he was inspired and found his love of music again from it. Suga produces and writes all of his own albums and the last one DDay has been getting awards and breaking records, as well as being highly ranked by critics, one even said he was one of the best Korean Producers of our time.

I am 76 and I love them like no other performer in my life. I love their attitudes to each other and ARMY and the respect they bring to the world. I hope the military look as after them as even in this role they want to take their responsibility to serve like any other South Korean male.. WOW ❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's so crazy to think that wasn't even a BTS concert. I mean, when the sheer size of ARMY is shown as the camera pans out (at the end of RM's intro with Persona), it's almost impossible to imagine there are other fandoms there. All I see is an ocean of ARMY Bombs 😂
This is one of my favorite reactions. This is not the first time I'm watching it. Even with the silent mic, you two expressed much more than many reactors. Your appreciation and enthusiasm for the performance and for BTS were so clear! I wish they would watch this.
I'm loving Dan's journey down the rabbit hole. It might be nice to show him the dance practice for Dionysus since he just saw the live. That way he would have gotten a taste of different types of content - intro videos, music, live and a dance practice. Just an idea💜

The whole representation since the first horn was about Greek deities. Each of them represented a different god, and the table was the Olympus. All related to the title song Dionysius. It's a masterpiece of a performance.

1:00:08 I had the same thing happen when I started listening to BTS. I realized I had almost completely lost my interest in music without even realizing it. I’m grateful to BTS for giving it back to me. You nailed it, BTS is a whole experience.

PS: The last song’s title is Dionysius (god of wine, followers got drunk & threw wild parties to worship him). Each of the guys is representing one of the main Greek gods, as reflected on their solo intros. RM is Dionysius (due to distinctive staff), Suga is Hephaestus (Fire), Jk is Poseidon (Sea), JHope is probably Zeus (Lightning), etc. Who the others is a bit unclear but let’s be honest, Jimin could 100% represent Aphrodite or Eros (Beauty/Love) bc duh! 😉
So the scene you were discussing is reminiscent of the Last Supper painting but it more likely meant to represent Olympus. At the start, the gods are looking down on their subjects (and apparently not at all impressed by what they were seeing 😂) Sorry for the long post.

I actually liked the muted captions 😂 it was a fun, energetic silent movie style!
Basically, Dionysus is the god of wine-making and festivity (amongst other things) and the lyrics are basically talking about partying - "one shot, two shots" as the guys mime taking a drink.
The performance was meant to be the council of the gods, with BTS being the gods looking down on their subjects.
The whole performance was SO over the top and over produced and amazing because this was supposed to be the final performance before Seokjin (and then the others) left for his (their) mandatory military service. Big Hit wanted them to go out with a bang so people wouldn't forget them, however the pandemic happened and there was an extension to the older member's exemption which allowed them to continue making music and videos while the world was on fire.
I have yet to see a performance at the MMAs or anywhere else that tops this one.

BTS fills the vacuum; thet give me hope that 7 Magnificent young men 💜 give: there are wonderful and 💜 persons alive. They give, they care, they create beautiful sounds....they are gorgeous in every way.
