Float Fishing for Barbel on River Trent - NOT what he was expecting!

Today you join Shane on the bank of the river trent float fishing for barbel. Now many of you know that the river trent is home to some cracking barbel, absolute monster sized fish have come out and I've got to say they fight they give is like no other. Big carp can fight but when it comes to big river barbel along with the current they are just so strong and powerful.
Although nine times out of ten we're hunting for the biggest fish we can catch, today shane caught what could be the smallest barbel I've seen be caught but what a beautiful pristine condition fish it was and im sure give it a few years it'll turn into a right monster.
While at the bank, Shane decides to hedge his bets of catching a fish and setups a pike rod with a dead bait in the margins...it would be rude not too wouldn't it.

used to fish this stretch alot as a kid when the barges were there. That spot used to be known for decent barbel. we'd fish off the platform to your left so there would always have to be a couple of us so 1 could run down the bottom of the bank to land the fish. Funny i watch darrens youtube channel and didnt realise this was linked till i scrolled through some of the vids. tight lines to you both

Can I suggest a big speciwaggler instead? You will get away with a bit less lead than that massive float you have there. Give it plenty of feed too

Its called fishing not catching, sometimes we don’t catch but we still fishing, it's not all about catching enjoy being out in nature and peace, you'll get a red letter day soon 😀
