If you ever wonder what to use as door prizes I have a suggestion. I adore your sock and mittens and having one that you knitted would be such and honor and the most special prize you could give!! Just an idea........
always thought grannys would open their trenchcoats and "psst... need shetland? merino? even got some with silk! have a look.". Ireland and Italy are the 2 places i wanted to visit since the 4th grade
I visited This Is Knit twice when I went to Dublin in April. It's a charming little spot and the staff is just so lovely and friendly. I almost couldn't close my suitcase after shopping there. 😁😁😁
Hi Sam, thank you for sharing with us. I'm based in Manchester and sadly we don't have many yarn shops here. I never been to Dublin, but I always wanted to go!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment!! I feel the pain! I had to do a lot of research to find some yarn companies here in Ireland as well…although there re so many sheep 😂
Hi Sam. I am from Dublin and am sad to say that I wasn’t aware of many of the shops you mentioned! I will find your spreadsheet very helpful. Your podcasts are very enjoyable. Many thanks.
Thanks so much Lilla! Believe me, I was not aware of the amount of shops too!!! I kept complaining of nit finding good yarn here but, well…we have so many good retailers 😍 Hope the spreadsheet is ok and I will keep adding as I go
Afternoon Sam - I was sitting down with my lunch and knitting and thought I would see who was here this Friday. Delighted to see you and how lovely of you to show us the yarn shops. We are not planning to go to Ireland anytime soon but it is a.ways so good to see shops in different areas. You got me into watching Ruth and love her. Have good weekend and see you soon. ⭐️🌻
Thanks so much!!! Well if you ever plan to visit please let me know! I d be delighted to show you a few of the best knitting places ❤️ have a lovely weekend
Thank you so much for this!! There are shops there I've never seen on google. Off to find out who the winner is😁 It's gorgeous and sunny in Laois today; we're in Ireland so we have to mention the weather ha ha!
Sam, how great to hear from you again. Your review of yarns is helpful since I order most of my yarns anyway. I live in Virginia, USA. I just finished a sweater using Holst Supersoft and Holst Titicaca (100% alpaca) held double and I am over the moon pleased with the texture. This combination makes a soft yarn between fingering and DK which is just right for me. Holding Supersoft double makes DK but it makes a dense yarn and I prefer a light and soft yarn. Their web page has a chart that helps pair up the two yarns based on color choices. I have already started on #2!! I hope this is helpful.
I am so glad you made this video. I am going to go shopping! This was very delightful! When in Ireland I bought ready made sweaters not yarn but as tourists we had to do what was planned. Since we were Irish dancers we always visited shops for dance shoes. I absolutely love the music you are playing....... details please! Where I am there are no yarn shops. You are lucky. Whenever you have a question, nobody seems to know or give correct advice. There was that time with the dye lot bad advice I was given when I should have listened to my mom in my mind!! We went to Blarney Woolen Mill but I don't remember if there was yarn. Always happy when you pop up in my feed! 🍀😊🍀!
Hi Sam, great list of yarn stores, I've gotten yarn from most of them, This is knit is a beautiful shop & the staff are sooo friendly, The constant knitter used to be in francis Street but sadly it closed it was another amazing little shop, great to have an Irish knitters view on where to yarn shop as we don't have that many shops here, great job Sam 👍❤
Thank you for this list Sam! I am a flight attendant in Canada and hope to be flying over to DUB in the near future. I've put these recommendations in my notes. :)
Sam, this is great!! I have been taking a several month break from watching podcasts because I decided to buy no more yarn or patterns, & podcasts just provide too much temptation - and LOL one of the 1st ones I see now I’m starting to watch again is your one about Irish yarn shops 😂 I’m still not buying this year, but I had an email from someone who will be visiting Ireland soon & wanted some yarn shop tips- I’ll link your video because it is so helpful! And of course I’m thrilled that you mentioned Irish Fibre Crafters 🤗 Hope summer is treating you well 🤗 Susan
thanks Susan!!! We've been missing you!!! Please share with them my spreadheet too, should be accessible to everyone. I think might be a good starting point for an Irish database to get some shine on all our amazing sellers here in Ireland!
Hi Sam, thanks for sharing all the beautiful yarn shops. I might be visiting Dublin in March so it gives me an idea of where to find some beautiful yarn.
Thanks Sam..I have newly moved home to Ireland and although i have a decent stash I did wonder where I will buy my yarn. Cushendale mill seem to be the only ones who spin irish wool as far as I'm aware?! I hope to visit there soon. They are taking part in August as craft month and have regular tours that are free to attend. Thanks for a lovely video 🥰
thanks so so much! and welcome back to Ireland! I think we do have Kerry Woollen Mill and Studio Donegal that also have some Irish fibers but I need to double check that!
Thanks so so much for checking this out!!! If you are visiting Ireland you will definitely find such amazing yarn !!!! Let me know if I can help with anything else Ireland related!!!
Thank you! We are coming to Ireland Sept 12th for our anniversary trip. This is our first trip in years. Our last trip was Ireland in 2018. Any recommendations you have would be amazing. We start in Dublin and then Doolin, Dingle, Killarney, Skibbereen, and back to Dublin. We loved the people in Ireland so much!! And the country is so beautiful! It was my favorite trip I’ve ever been on. We’ve both been sick with Covid the past few weeks so hopefully we will be feeling energetic enough by the 12th to hike the Cliffs of M again! Do you have Instagram?
Hi Sam! I just booked a trip to Ireland for April and am so happy I discovered your video! I have noted a few of the shops to put on my list and would love to check out the spreadsheet but it seems to have been deleted. Any chance it’s just a broken link? Thanks for the tips!
Have you checked out the wool cones from Springwools? I picked up the merino/mohair 1kg cone when I was in Dublin a couple months ago and am just now getting to knit with it. I will say that it isn't an easy shop to get to, especially if you don't have a car, but their shipping isn't too bad and the prices for their cones are comparable to Wooly Knits and Holst Supersoft.
If you ever wonder what to use as door prizes I have a suggestion. I adore your sock and mittens and having one that you knitted would be such and honor and the most special prize you could give!! Just an idea........
You are way too kind

I’ll be near Galway in April! I’ve been looking for all the yarn stores to visit! Thank you 😊
My pleasure!!! There re quite a few down there!!!
This is great information, I sure will come back to it if I ever visit Dublin.
Happy it was useful!!!
Loved the new music! And thank you for an overview of local shops that ship internationally!

These yarn shops are a big help. Drops yarn is impossible to find in Australia
Fantastic!!! Really happy to help! Hopefully some of the shops can ship to Australia for a good price!! Have a wonderful weekend

Hello lovely xx
Great info, thanks. Have you been to the Aran Island for yarn?
Not yet! Didn’t know there was a yarn shop over there? Must check it out

I was in Dublin Ireland and couldn't find any near me at the time, so sad

hi Sam I can not access the spreadsheet, could you please share it again
Apologies for the delay bit for the past two weeks didn't have access to a computer. I updated the link and it should work now.
