    beautiful work! I have been in French Quarter twice over NYE in 2000 and 2001. What a wonderful place! I knew a musician Jamil Sharif, who was a terrific trumpet player! I WANT to go back!

    Truth be told, you haven't partied until you've partied in New Orleans. The food is great and so is the music. I can't wait to go back and stimulate their economy. Great vid.

    New Orleans is a place I've never been and would love to go.With the hurricane I was worried that there would be nothing left.I like so many others donated in hopes that they would rebuild and reclaim the wonderful heritage I've heard so much about,for afterall it is that reason I want to go.I have french lineage and I think it's a wonderful place and this video as short as it was gave me peace of mind and hope that someday I might get to go there.Thanks so very much.

    home sweet home....I'm a 14 year-old-girl from New Orleans and I do not appreciate all the rude comments about our city. We have been through alot and I would appriciate it if you do not have anything nice to say, that you do not say it at all. It's called manners. They raise us up to be well mannered respectful American citizens down here. On the other hand, thank you so much for all your love and support for those out there who left uplifting comments. It really means alot.

    I am a New Orleanian and I LOVE my city! No place like it! I am so tierd of the haters... If you hate us then look the other way and leave us alone, weve been through enough already without all your misinformed hate comments.Instead of focusing on how much you hate us, look into your own city's emergency plan (or lack of one) then be grateful we showed all cities they need to take another look, not that it will help much without federal help when its supposed to come.

    I do not appreciate that comment.I had great respect for a man who lived in the ninth ward.He died of a heart attack when he stepped on his front porch and saw the water rushing towards his house.His 76 year old wife held his dead body for three days while she stood on a matress with just her head above water.That man worked his whole life to provide for his family and he was a wonderful man for it.Although he could not afford the best, he had a good heart and did the best he could.They do care.

    I have heard that the city of New Orleans is working with Dutch authorities/specialists about dam construction, since they also live beneath the water level (though no hurricanes) and hopefully they will incorporate some of the tips they get from a country (or city, Amsterdam) that has a great need for well-made dams that last a long time.

    The worse loss of life was the hurricane of 1928 that struck Lake Okeechobee,FL. The loss of life was closer to 3,000 as well as the tremendous damage done by flooding. Texas also has a place in history as being hardest hit in Galvaston literally wiping it almost off the map.

    The nay-sayers are missing the value of this short film, I think. I've never been exposed to the French Quarter, and I appreciate the fact that someone has taken the time to show more of N'awlins than the usual drunken insanity that is Bourbon Street during Mardis Gras.
    Anyway, I liked how you used the music from the street performers all throughout the clip; it really tied it all together. It was a very professional move, and I think is something I'll employ in future projects of my own.

    We in New Orleans were aware that our city was shaped like a bowl, and that it was continually sinking. Yet we stayed, because it just wouldn't feel right to relocate to...New New Orleans, Texas....or something to that effect. And when all of the city is underwater, There will be no relocation. There may be a reconstruction around that area. That's why we bother with it. It may be far from perfect down there, but it's home. And we cherish it.

  • @jimjim
    @jimjim Před 17 lety

    Canal street used to divide the Creoles (mainly French, Spanish)from the then newly arrived Americans. The Americans developed and controlled (even had their own city government) the Uptown section of New Orleans and the Creoles controlled Downtown (The French Quarter).
    The architecture of the French Quarter is actually Spanish architecture. The original 'French' Quarter had burned down right at the time the Spanish took over New Orleans.

    the french quarter is probably honestly one of the most dangerous places to be in all of the united states. its so horribly congested with crime, its pretty much insane to go out by after 7:00 at night

    I'd agree. Louisiana is a beautiful State. NIce friendly people with pride in their homes. They neighborhoods are usually very clean. NO on the other hand has always been a cesspool. I visited my first time in 1981. Even the water pressure of Katrina wasn't enough to douche that town.

    I loved the music, entertainment and the food in New Orleans (except for the crawdads or crawfish or whatever you call them) and taking a ride on one of those party paddle boats going down the river was the highlight of the trip. I just had a nightmare of a time with all of the drunks that crowded the streets and acted like animals, pissing and puking right in the middle of the street while people were walking down the street right next to them in shoulder to shoulder crowds.

    As a New Orleansresident, born and raised, I was educated in the history of Louisiana culture and heritage. I'm not out to start any arguments, as I knw several N.O. residents did consider the same thoughts, why are we still here, why cant we rebuild somewhere else, etc etc. But on the other side of that coin, The vast majority of Louisiana would consider New Orleans to be their real capitol, not Baton Rouge.
