Here's a few others that should never be used in the context of supporting a club, vile, despicable, useless, rubbish. You are not the club, the players and the manager and the history define the club, especially the history. This is why Bruno must be captain now & make Varane VC.
    Bruno spoke from the heart here...good & bad.
    Maguire just has no personality & would never do an interview like this, he would only sound robotic & he could never give the fans that insight into the ups & downs of being at the club...
    Easily one of the best interviews of a Utd player in a decade!!
    Bruno has done himself the world of good here...the passion he spoke with & that will to win came through & I don't think there is a Utd fan now who will not be 100% behind him - it was a vital interview for the club & ETH's vision. His attitude is first class.
    Let's hope ETH keeps Maguire & Shaw well out of the picture & creates a unity with the players that won against Liverpool & Arsenal.
    It will take this whole season & maybe another 6 months before ETH embeds his philosophy but with Bruno, now ETH has a leader on the pitch trying to get the players on the same page.
    I just want Bruno now to start scoring & creating & the confidence will go through the roof.

    • @kimbuoy1
      @kimbuoy1 Před rokem

      Hopefully, you will realize soon enough that you cannot win anything with only 11 players. You need a full squad playing at their best and highly motivated. The heart of your post (I assume it is United's success) is perfect but the Maguire slander was unnecessary and ironic.
      Support the TEAM. That is any and EVERY body that pulls on that Red Shirt and hope for each of them to be at their best.

    • @Account_CB
      @Account_CB Před rokem +1

      @@kimbuoy1 I understand the sentiment of your response, & i am very aware success is based on an entire squad.
      I have supported this club since 1992..I have lived the successes & the failures..(the biggest failure being last season's horror show)
      Not once in that time have I seen a 'captain' so inept at his role than Maguire - both playing & off the field captaincy. This is not slander, it is a sad fact.
      You only need to compare Bruno's passion, character & words to an interview Maguire did last season where he proclaimed he must be 'doing something right, as he has been picked to start by both managers'...EVERY interview he has given whether win, lose or draw has predominantly sounded the same '...we must do better, there are things to improve etc etc'...yet he will step onto the pitch & its like he has ignored his own advice!!
      No successful manager or team, throws a player like Maguire into the starting line up in the hope that he may have a good game & risk losing points/ultimately trophies - See what Klopp did with Gomez at halftime after his absent defending vs Napoli? & Pep will only ever play Ake if he has no alternative.
      Maguire is the only player i have seen at Utd in 3 decades who carries such a high profile & price tag but when chosen, brings such a nervousness to the whole team that to utilise him is so much more of a risk to morale & focus on the pitch than it is worth....case in point - 3 losses this season when he started - 7 goals conceded + captained the side vs 4 straight wins without him & with Bruno as captain & 2 goals conceded. I am not suggesting this statistic will continue all season however it is enough evidence (not even from my view point, but thankfully that of ETH), that Maguire represents too much instability to risk points.
      I would love Maguire, AWB & Shaw to be a success but there must come a point where given the chances they have had...that either time is up or they humble themselves, work hard, prove to ETH & the team they are competent & can be trusted.
      Maguire's performances are sufficient evidence he mustn't be anywhere near this team until he shows he can be trusted...same as Shaw. On the other hand, I & most Utd supporters have seen such improvement in McTominay that he at least is proving he can learn & i admire his character & focus given his & the team's poor prior season.
      Fans will always support a player if they see on & off the pitch, that they can improve through hard work & concentration. Maguire should be looking at McTominay's attitude & learning that is how he can earn the fans respect...but by feeding his family & friends this idea that he is being unjustly targeted is yet another indication of his poor judgement & a huge indictment on his decision making as 'official' club captain.
      Having a squad of 25 players is necessary for success I agree but if there are players in that squad who are clearly not upto the task & have a detrimental effect on the squad's morale, it would be nonsense to suggest using them just on the basis of rotation.

When Ten Haag maintained Maguire, I was NOT happy cos I felt that will guarantee his starts just cos he is a Captain. Remember what Maguire said that if he was playing well, the 2 coaches will not be featuring him in games. What guts! A terrific interview all around. In my country in Latin America, Chocapic is the #1 recommended cereal for young people who are training to become athletes, as it is quite cheap, tasty, full of carbs and you can have it 'dry' (without any milk) so that you don't get an upset stomach 40 minutes after having it if you're doing sports.

    Even though he got sent off at Watford, Maguire was nowhere to be seen after that game. At least Bruno acted like a captain & tried to take some of the blame off of Ole

    The best captains I can remember all had strong characters. Maybe it is possible to be a good captain without that; but history suggests probably not.
    I think Maguire does have qualities to be an important player, if not here then at another club; but he doesn't seem like he has the character to lead a team to success.
    That doesn't just look like being charismatic; it's strength of character in one's own actions and behaviours. If we fall short, Bruno looks first to his own performance (so does De Gea); Maguire when he himself has had horrendous performances, has publicly put the blame on his team mates. That's not leadership.
