Honestly this movie just reinforced my head canon as a child that Prickly and Finster knew the entire dynamic of the playground and just acted like the bad guys so the kids had someone to unite against from time to time lol
I think it's actually far from headcannon. A few episodes straight up suggest that this is the truth and that Prickly and Finster love their jobs and love the kids.
You know, the idea makes a lot of sense. It's that way in the military too, your Drill Sergeant (Army) is a hardass but that helps Unite your unit, form a brotherhood.
Finster showed such character development. She went up against her ex, shut down his declarations of entitlement, and reveals she came with backup. Also, who knew Ms. Grotke had that fighting spirit?
I loved that part. Grotke being a martial arts practitioner kind of makes sense. Lots of people get into martial arts for spiritual reasons like learning self control and finding one's center, hippie stuff like that. Grotke would absolutely be all about that. Also proof that Peaceful doesn't mean harmless.
Of course Ms. Grotke is a badass, you just need to remember what she says when she teaches. She calls out early American settlers on their treatment of American natives, historical men on their sexism and the worlds inequality. She was always a fighter but she uses words and education as her weapon of choice rather than her fists
I never noticed this before, but pretty much everything in this movie has a purpose. Gretchen going to Space Camp where she realizes something going on with the moon. T.J. finding his baseball ball so he can give it to Vince to stop the laser. The box of papers isnât just a random throw away moment either. Also how they get the box is tied into the ice cream bit they did earlier as well. Even the gross lunch food comes back later in the film. Itâs definitely a very well written movie.
I wish this could happen in my school them saying to me Fight me? you and what army, and then I would say me and this army and allof the students and teachers walk behind me and get ready to fight.
Also have you seen that nearly all the teachers there were trained in some type of fighting style? Boxing, martial arts, Tessenjutsu, geez where is 3rd Street Elementary located, Detroit?!

I had an English teacher in high school that was almost identical to Miss Finster in personality and physique...it was awesome! Sheâs still one of my favorite teachers of all time.

I like to think that this scene started my love for movies about people fighting the powers that be. Because sometimes the powers that be need a reminder that they breathe by permission of the people.
Scenes like this shows that even though Miss Finster's super stern and strict to all the kids at the school deep down she really cares about all of them
This is right up there with Serenity for a perfect film based on a TV series. It has enough fanservice to be an extra-long episode, but it also has enough respect for its story, characters and audience to be a good standalone movie. Granted, it's still fucking insane. But Recess has always been insane.

The kids were right to cheer for their victory; I don't blame them for not having very much sympathy for a man who just tried to destroy their holiday, and by extension, endanger the entire planet, even if it was for a good cause.
Whatâs sad is in the episode Recess is Cancelled getting rid of recess just made kids slow minded and dull to the point where they kept failing tests. That just shows how wrong Benedict was in getting rid of it. Whatâs worse is that I think Benedict knew about it but was too lost in revenge to think clearly considering he was about to put the planet in the next ice age.
Ms Grotke at the 0:45 and 0:59 cracked me up big time when she went all Jackie Chan on those thugs. This was my childhood cartoon when I was a kid!! LOL đ

This was one of the funniest movies ever from my childhood watching this on VHS tape when I was 10 years old. Brings me back memories looking at it, I laughed so hard when Prickly said "you got something on your tie" then punches him. This was one of the funniest movies ever from my childhood watching this on VHS tape when I was 10 years old.
