      So at first he was Lafayette: A soldier who has a very fluent french accent. Then he goes to France and comes back as Jefferson. Lafayette wanted to be the president so bad that when he was in France, he changed his identity, clothes and hair. He trained to talk regularly and lose the french accent just so he can become president. All of his friends should be asking "what did i miss?" because they certainly missed a whole lot.

    While the musical portrays Thomas Jefferson as a womanizer, real Thomas Jefferson was actually pretty shy and awkward around women. In fact, his entire character in the musical is pretty much the opposite of his real-life personality.

    Lin said he wrote Thomas Jefferson thinking about his parents generation.Like he thought about Hamilton being a rapper because he was young and revolutionary,Jefferson was older,so he couldn't have a song like My shot to introduce himself,it had to be something like old school,something more classic,i think that's why it looks like...brodway and like,the opposite of the other songs in the musical.Genius.

    This song makes him sound way better than he was. He doesn’t sound at all like a guy who owned hundreds of slaves , including a 14 year old (Sally) that he had 6 kids with, and owned a sheep that killed a kid.
