I now live in New Mexico, though I lived from Monterrey to San Diego, California, for almost 30 years. I LOVED watching the Aztec dancers and went to every event they were featured in. I tried dancing at one event, were the public was invited to dance alongside, and I enjoyed it, though I was pretty heavy then and I was panting for air when the dance was finished! Also bought a CD of Aztec dance music at another event. Every year in ABQ there is an event, usually in the Spring, called the Gathering of Nations, for about 4 days, where many North American Indigenous Tribes come to dance all their beautiful tribal dances. I went twice, but was always slightly disappointed that I didn't see any Mexican dancers (of any tribe). I couldn't go this year, but I found on CZcams the Opening Parade of Dancers videotaped in April. I was pleasantly surprised to see among the dancers a contingent of Mexican Aztec Dancers. There was also a group from New Zealand, Maori 'Haka' Dancers too! Glad to see the Gathering of Nations is spreading out their invitations to dance to more worldwide indigenous peoples.👍
